Does anyone know why or how it’s back in?From the sales reportFeatured in the newly released fourth season of Netflix streaming hit, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, and the musical backdrop to numerous recent TikTok videos, Bronski Beat’s 1984 No.3 hit Smalltown Boy is a re-entry at No.71 (6,037 sales).
23 hours ago23 hr I did think the physicals for Olivia were unlikely to secure her the #1 but shame they weren't even enough to stay in the top 2 - ah well, still a 4th top 3 from the album, I'll take it. (Still not heard the Chappell remix oop, I was tuned in from #33 up to #7, coincidentally bookended by Zach Bryan x). 'Babydoll' crashes in as my 2nd least favourite #1 of the year so far, breaking up the previously all-Taylor bottom 2 ('I Knew It, I Knew You' escapes my bottom 2 but 'Opalite' remains firmly last). 'Housewife' looking clearly poised to take over next week so it might end up being a 1 week #1 although still wouldn't be surprised if it has longer legs and just ends up back at #1 in January.Really enjoyed both of the Zach songs (pleasantly surprised 'Lodi When' wasn't skipped), consistent from him as ever, must make sure to check out the rest of the EP. It's great that he has a top 10 single to his name now and that his name power seems to still be on the rise ('Lies' obviously being helped by the Lana feature, but it's the first time any of his projects has landed more than just the one big single in the top 40). A bit of a shame the EP itself ended up just missing the top 10 especially with it being held out by the somewhat farcical Katy Perry greatest hits but #11 is still pretty good for an 8 track EP with no physical release - still a higher chart position than all of his full length albums bar the most recent one! Also aw at Fontaines D.C. not getting that first top 10 single when it looked promising at the start of the week but nonetheless, all three of their entries this week being higher than any of their previous singles chart positions is nothing to sniff at! 'Demolition' was sounding fantastic on the chart show today, still sitting pretty as my favourite album track and probably overall 2nd favourite on the album after 'Where Is Gone?' - although I won't mind if 'Mimesis' knocks it out next week now it has a chart position locked in. 'Japan' is growing on me as well, I do get why it's the song being pushed even though it's far from my favourite on the album (was actually my least favourite on my first listen but I might put it ahead of 'One Man' now), it along with 'Marianne' are the two songs that sound the most like conventional mainstream hits I suppose.First time hearing the KETTAMA song today too, agreed it's not as good as 'Comes And Goes' but I did like it more than both of Prospa's other top 40 hits! Also hooray for Justice holding onto their Wednesday position (I was still never worrying about it dropping out entirely x), utterly mad it's taken them 20 years to get a second top 40 hit, 'D.A.N.C.E.' at the very least should definitely have got there for them. Also ofc surreal to hear King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard being discussed on the chart show them and KETTAMA both joining the fairly long list of artists getting first top 40 hits from the last few weeks! (Along with Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton going by Spotify's credits on 'Think Of You').'Thriller' already re-entering is pretty ikonik too. Is this the first time the chart show has played Michael Jackson outside of the top 10 this year?A bit sad for the state of the charts that the activity this week would have been quite commonplace in the not too distant past but stands out as being particularly exciting for 2026. But we'll take what we can get I guess.

13 hours ago13 hr My word please don't let babydoll be #1 for the next (non-consecutive) 56 million years. Prefer it to the other chart-topper with that drum beat from this year though even if I am a big Fam Sender fan normally.Might be a grower....Oh shit I'm starting to like it, at least it actually sounds like a #1 and is kinda joyous unlike the mid as feck Geordie Springsteen tune I always thought would just stay a reasonable enough side 2 album track before O-Dean jumped on it.In fact, I feel like I've known it all my life, I wonder what it rips off. Ironically, even after the Rein of Terror I think we still have more #1s than 1992? Showing me age here. Edited 13 hours ago13 hr by HiyaLuv!
13 hours ago13 hr Also really hoping XO's Stacey (Take You Higher) makes the main playlist at some point soon, obviously it was the BBC Introducing Track of the Week a while back but it deserves so much more. Is basically Let the Music Play, Debbie Gibson, early Eternal, Spice Girls, Little Mix and whatever FLO are trying to be having a euphoric sunkissed pop baby and I am totally there for it. I have long suspected that the BBC Radio 1 playlist "bigwigs" lurk on here so if you are reading this, bring it back FFS! Edited 13 hours ago13 hr by HiyaLuv!

I mean, that's not really true when they decided to strategically change the release date of the physicals at the very last minute in its second week purely to block 'Stupid Song'. It was a similar trick they used in Brat's opening week.
