I don’t think Iz has an act as they were a judge at 6CC. Unless that makes you Sammy Fender

Oh yes forgot about that. Maybe I'll go for AllStar being Sam F then.

Really tough first live show, lots of great songs and still some big hits here:

  1. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Get Over You (I always loved this, Sophie's Deluxe Edition Read My Lips single released to capitalise on the unexpected success of Murder and having nothing much to follow it up with on the album, this did the job very nicely indeed and slightly repositioned her from indie-pop star to disco-pop star, which she remains today)

  2. Texas - Halo (strong return to form after the wobble they had in the 'lowest streamed' round, this is one of my top three Texas songs - one more is yet to be played - White On Blonde was one of the 90s best albums with a run of killer singles including this one, summer 1997 memories flooding back again, I love the drama and use of strings)

  3. Bananarama - Cruel Summer (a good one to play to keep them in i'd hope, an absolute 80s classic with great production and melody)

  4. MARINA - How to Be a Heartbreaker (great play from their mentor once more, for how few actual hits she has to her name, she certainly has a lot of songs that feel like classic hits)

  5. Darin - Electric (this man does no wrong in this competition, another brilliant pop single, hats off to their mentor for the way Darin has been guided through)

  6. Kate Bush - Babooshka (another classic out quite early on for Kate, I wonder if the aim is to just keep her going as far as possible now rather than strategic choices – this is great of course)

  7. Gary Numan - Intruder (oh I've heard this before somewhere, maybe Radio 2? It's a good modern one)

  8. New Order - Ceremony (I enjoyed this and didn't aleady know/remember it consciously, it sounds ahead of its time)

  9. Zara Larsson - All the Time (one that would have done a lot better for Zara if she wasn't in the khia era at the time, solid pop)

  10. Adele - Oh My God (30 isn't an album I'm hugely fond of - this is nice enough though)

  11. Fontaines D.C. - Starburster (it's good but I need to see my favourite from this album played pls, then I promise I will rank them very high)

  12. Sam Fender - Getting Started (solid but I definitely became a bigger Sam fan from People Watching onwards)

  13. Depeche Mode - People Are People (I remember seeing this on an 80s TOTP repeat fairly recently, they definitely had far better to come but it's solid)

  14. Sam Smith - Like I Can (I never really got on with Sam's voice on this one much in the chorus, the production is pretty good on it though)

  15. Tom Grennan - Royal Highness (didn't get too much from this personally)

Guess you guys wanted a lactose free live show. 😉 As I posted yesterday in the other thread, this would’ve been Agnes’s live show 1 song. 😚

01 Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Get Over You (fave)

02 Fontaines D.C. - Starburster

03 Tommy Grennan - Royal Highness

04 Adele - Oh My God

05 Darin - Electric

06 Sammy Fender - Getting Started

07 Marina - How to Be a Heartbreaker

08 Zara Larsson - All the Time

09 Kate Bush - Babooshka

10 Bananarama - Cruel Summer

11 Gary Numan - Intruder

12 New Order - Ceremony

13 Sammy Smith - Like I Can

14 Texas - Halo

15 Depeche Mode - People Are People

Ranking all of these was actually tough as things were close. Get Over You is a classic (IMO) and such a staple of 00’s pop that I kinda had to put it at the top! Will say though that Sophie feels very boxed in to about 3 of her albums when she’s had about 9(?) so would be good to get some later stuff (unless I’ve forgotten anything post Make a Scene making an appearance). Saying that, we're in the home stretch now and most of her bangers are in the 00's, so I can see why whoever has her has been wedded to that period.

I’m in a bit of a Fontaines D.C. rabbit hole at the moment due to Dopamine Chamber; I think that whoever has them could submit anything and I’d put it near the top, Hopefully Demolition gets in one of the Rounds. Royal Highness, Oh My God and Electric are good pop songs, as are Getting Started, How to Be a Heartbreaker and All the Time. In fact ranking that cluster of 6 songs was probably the hardest thing to do. I like Babooshka too and Cruel Summer is ok, again a decent entry for Banana's!

The bottom 5 was also fairly difficult to rank mainly as I think a couple of them have a lot more to give/ songs which would probably do well. I didn’t mind Intruder and found it interesting which put it ahead of the others. The New Order song was ok, but think they probably have bigger picks to play.

Like I Can, I wasn’t a massive fan of. I’m a bit hit and miss when it comes to Sammy Smith and I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a fan – but he has had some good picks in the past, this one just didn’t do it for me. Texas have been a bit of a vote grabber in the groups category and I would say A LOT of their big songs have already been played. I just found Halo a bit too MOR; I know Texas are very mid anyway, but they have had some great songs. I just didn’t find that Halo really grabbed me.

Then there’s Depeche Mode and I hate putting them bottom as I am a fan of a number of their songs. But I just didn’t really enjoy this song. It sort of pains me to put them low given they just got back in, but its just how I felt listening to all the song together.

I would actually love 'Breaking The Circle' or something from the HANA album but yeah I agree I can see why her mentor has stuck with her disco classics and not taken too many risks. But for something more recent, 'Hypnotize-ed' would probably do well!

Forgot about Hypnotize-d!

Yeah I think its probably difficult for a lot of the female acts, given how stacked the category was, to not just go for big hitters every round - as one wrong move and you'd be out!

Possibly the Groups/ Male categories are sometimes easier to show off lesser known tracks/ songs. But I guess the other end of that is, the Female category is more likely to win overall - so advantages/ disadvantages to which category you're in

I think the votes are going to be very varied this round!

I have listened to a few so far but would love an apple music playlist
