Posted February 28, 200817 yr So, it has been revealed that Prince Harry has been fighting in Afganistan on the front line for the past ten weeks. The MoD released the details today after a news blackout by the British press was scuppered by reports in foreign papers. Apparently, the Queen gave her permission for her grandson to fight. Should Prince Harry be fighting on the front line? Could he put his fellow soldiers in even more danger by being a high profile target? Could he get kidnapped and held hostage? Or, should he fight as he is after all a soldier despite who he is?
February 28, 200817 yr I'm in two minds about this - yes he should because he's a soldier just like everyone yes, but no he shouldn't because he's a risk to his family and to his troops. He's served there for 10 weeks, which is something and i'm suprised the news of him fighting on the front line has managed to stay under wraps this long! I would not be suprised though if he stops/has already stopped fighting on the front line however. He's just too much of a target.
February 28, 200817 yr Prince Andrew served in the Falklands flying helicopters and dodging Argie missiles and he is of as much importance in the royal heirachy as Harry is and there was never any fuss about Andrew Harry wants to fight and it would be bad for morale him having special treatment so fair play to him
February 28, 200817 yr Well apparently he was supposed to be returning in April but I presume now word is out that he's going to be sent back earlier! It's a lot different these days considering if he was taken hostage they could just get a camera and put it straight onto the internet then there'd be a worldwide media blitz etc. But fair play to them for trying to do it the way they did and fair play to the british press for keeping their mouths shut for once in their lives!
February 29, 200817 yr Im so angry at the yanks for leaking this. He has the same right as every other man to be there, he wants to serve his country which is a rarity nowadays. Now that its leaked, all of his troops are at risk. Stupid bloody americans screw up again.

February 29, 200817 yr OMFG From BBC News: Prince Harry is to be withdrawn from Afghanistan after news broke of him serving there on the front line, the Ministry of Defence has said. The 23-year-old royal, who is third in line to the throne, has spent the last 10 weeks serving in Helmand Province. Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup, had been considering whether Harry should remain in the country. There had been fears the prince could become a prized target for the Taleban.
February 29, 200817 yr well its probably the right decision, not only is he putting himself at risk but also his fellows are at a hightend risk too.. i mean, if we thought bin laden was stationed in THAT village wouldnt we try extra hard to get him?..

February 29, 200817 yr Whilst it's probably right for him to be bought home now, what with the danger to his troops, why the f*ck do people have a problem with him being out there? He's been there for 10 weeks and nothing's happened, as long as people dont leak it, he's proved its no biggy!
March 3, 200817 yr I was also in two minds on this one. He should be there to serve his country, after all he is a soldier and why should he be treated differently, but on the other hand, he is a sitting target and all his fellow troops around him. So thinking about it, it was the best thing for him to be pulled out. But good on him for doing his bit. Well done Harry Now i want to say about my man who is out there fighting for his country, come back home safe soon babe. :(

March 4, 200817 yr My friend put it perfectly the other day. What so special about him, it's not as if i know him or care about him. He's only special because of the family he was born into. Too me, and others their Husbands, Sons, Daughters, Wives, Cousins, Friends etc. all did the same without the coverage. My dad was out there ffs, to me he is and always will be more important.
March 4, 200817 yr My friend put it perfectly the other day. thats rather a dumb statement tbh... try 'because hes royalty'... dont you think that if the taliban captured or killed harry the ramification would be far greater then if it was 'jo bloggs'?... yep, hes an ordinary bloke but like it or not he carries a premium on his head where as 'jo bloggs' doesnt.
March 4, 200817 yr she's more on about the media, not what happens out there. Because of course a member of the British royal family is gonna be the ideal target. For the Taliban (and the yanks  )
March 4, 200817 yr When the time comes to praise the troops in Afganistan, it comes, but in the form of the media ass-kissing royality. They're ignored for months, and even when this story comes along they're still ignored. And if he wants to fight in Afganistan, then let him, although he should be carefull as he is/was putting lots of people in danger. It's stupid though how the media has gone crazy over this and still not paid any dues or respect to the troops out there, what's more important, People who've been fighting over there for months, or a Worldwide Tourist Attraction..?

All of a sudden, because it comes out in the media that Ginger Bollocks Royal B/astard has been out there for less than THREE SODDING MONTHS, we suddenly give a sh!t about "our boys" (well, really only the one "boy" in reality...), who've been dodging bullets and suicide bombers for considerably sodding LONGER, and their welfare.... "ooooh, it's too dangerous for Harry to be out there".... Well, if it's 'too dangerous' for him, then it's too dangerous for the rest of 'em as far as I'm concerned, or are their lives not worth as much as the HRH Ginger Bollocks... <_< BRING ALL OF OUR TROOPS HOME..... Still, nice bit of publicity for The Windsors Plc innit....? -_-
