Campest movie EVER- But it got the whole cinema up and singing. :D

actually wasnt that camp tbh - much more like being subjected to a bad hen night out in Blackpool than a musical Carry On Camping with songs by Alexander Bard!!!! - then again saying that it was not as bad as i thought it was gonna be and tbh only went as my parents wanted to go 241 and they and their friend enjoyed it loads - thought it was v uplisting and a nice film without any really explicit language (excepting the innuendo obv) or violence

brilliant :D saw it last night, best film I've seen all year, I couldn't help but smile

Meryl Streep was excellent, as was Pierce Brosnan (not his singing though) and of course the music was brilliant

I saw this tonight, and i havent laughed so much in ages, you can't help but come out the movie with a smile. One of the best films i have seen in a while.

I nearly died during this movie - at the end of Dancing Queen I actually felt the happiest I've ever felt in my life, I thought I was gonna explode!!

Such a feel good movie  As always, Meryl Streep shines, and Amanda Seyfried's voice is shockingly good. The same cannot be said, however, for 007.

I loved the ending when Donna and the Dynamos sing and Donna starts yelling in the camera asking why we (the audience) aren't leaving  then starts to sing another song... seeing those 3 men sing and dance was sooo funny! One of my fav "scenes"

007's voice is horrific  I couldn't stand to hear him sing! It was so... unnatural

It was strange enough to see Colin Firth in his role after the hubba hubba Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones Diaries

I had no idea Meryl's voice was that good either! A pleasant surprise, definitely! Love her

Really enjoyed this! Cant believe Amanda the bride plays Karen in Mean Girls she has changed loads.

:o I thought I recognised her from something!

so that's why her face was so familiar!!!!! :o thank you so much, I hate when I see a familiar famous face and can't remember where I'd seen it before

Could this be Meryl Streep's 574th Oscar nom?
'Mamma Mia!' is UK's biggest ever movie

By Michael Thornton

Mamma Mia! has become the most successful British film ever at the UK box office.

The Abba musical has now grossed £67 million domestically, eclipsing the £66 million made by previous record-holder Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone.

Mamma Mia! is also the second most successful international movie in the UK, only surpassed by Titanic, which took £69 million at the box office.

The musical held the top spot in the UK box office chart in July before being knocked off by The Dark Knight.

But...why?

That movie was so $h!t IMO. :(

But...why?

Successful stage musical + ABBA factor + Sunny escapist film + female/gay/teenager appeal + sing-a-long potential + multiple viewing factor = big hit!

In Woolies DVD Pre-Order chart, Mamma mia is number 1. I thought Dark Knight would be but that's only 3rd behind MM and my fave film of the year ( ) Wall-E :w00t:
I don't understand either really... there wasn't really a great deal of hype about it (compared to Harry Potter or The Dark Knight for example). It was good though ^_^
I take it back the movie wasn't $h!t, but it didn't deserve to do this well.
I thought it was a great film :D but then I love ABBA songs so I would

I loved loved loved it  Most fun I've had in the cinema for ages. Though I will admit I'm a big ABBA fan too. Can't wait for the DVD. It's actually predicted to be one of the biggest selling DVDs ever.

With 'Mamma Mia!' currently the 2nd 'Biggest Film

Ever', in the UK, (behind 'Titanic'), Universal have

launched a 'Final Push' to try to get it into 1st place.

From Friday 14th November to Sunday 23rd November,

you can see 'Mamma Mia!' on a 'Buy 1 Ticket Get 1

Ticket Free', basis/offer at UK Cinemas.

The DVD is out the day after the offer ends - Monday

24th November. It is expected to be the fastest

selling DVD of 2008, in the UK. At present,

the 'Sex & The City' DVD is the fastest seller -

820,000 sold, in its first Week.

A few Weeks ago, Amazon.uk said that the 'Mamma Mia!' DVD

was already their 3rd 'Most Pre-Ordered' DVD - ever.

This might be a really thick question but do DVD sales count for total gross?
