Whilst they might not have sold lots, White Stripes (7 Nation Army) and Missy Elliott (Get Ur Freak On) are considered as classics of their genres

7 Nation Army would have been good on the indie/rock disc...I don't think Get Ur Freak On or Lonely would be better than the 20 songs I already picked for the R & B/Hip Hop disc...Akon has been big this decade but I doubt people will look at Lonely as one of the classics of the decade

Wino's on there twice because one is a duet with Mark Ronson...Dido's on there with Eminem but I still don't think White Flag is as well remembered as Here With Me or Thank You...I never hear it on the radio anymore

The chart runs for Clint Eastwood, Dare and Feel Good Inc:

Clint Eastwood : 4-5-6-4-5-6-9-9-12-14-14-23-25-39-49-59-65->17

Feel Good Inc: 22-21-22-20-2-4-5-3-4-5-8-10-13-15-17-17-18-23-23-34-45-51-55-63-71-74-73R(2)-66R(3)-67-68-61-65-61-59-41-52-69-74R(11)-72->39

Dare: 1-2-3-8-11-15-18-16-20-21-22-28-33-29-45-47-50-42-47-55-57-65-68R(2)-58-61-69-62R(5)->27

Considering Clint Eastwood came out in the quick moving chart era of 2001, its 8 weeks in the top ten were more impressive than those 8 that Feel Good Inc had in 2005. I also believe that Clint Eastwood was out at the same time as HUGE sellers from Shaggy, Westlife, Atomic Kitten and Hear'Say so it did well to stick around...However, I can appreciate why both songs would be equally considered as representative of the decade...

Clint Eastwood sold more and appealed to younger people...Feel Good Inc appealed to a wider audience and peaked higher...

its a very hard one to call for me and one of the harder choices to make for the tracklist

I still stick by Feel Good Inc as the defining Gorillaz track, and I firmly think that it will be a recognised 00s classic in years to come.

interesting update...I can't believe I forgot Gold Digger :o

Some of the songs are good, but of the last 8 years, I can only name 5/6 that will be classics.
Maybe "By The Way- Red Hot Chilli Peppers" should be on there

Edited by Harve

I prefer Clint Eastwood.

Dare got a tad annoying after a few listens.

I never knew Infernal had such a huge hit until I checked, I can't say I actually recognise it or consider it a classic. In terms of #2 dance hits from 2006, I'd consider Booty Luv's "Boogie 2nite" to be more recognisable. I wouldn't say "Release Me" was a classic either, but I suppose your love for it might help it's inclusion over someone like September. :heehee:

Leona looks a bit weird on the R&B disc, maybe Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown would be a good replacement, but Leona is an obvious must. Some of the million sellers are a bit forgotten about now (Shayne/Gareth) but there's an obvious argument for keeping them.

Generally a pretty spot-on summary of the decade.

The only track I'd possibly quibble are Agnes - I like it, but I don't think it's really deserving of a place in the top 100 of the decade, it was big but not THAT big, and she's a bit of a one-hit wonder.

Add Britney Spears - Oops I Did It Again & Christina Aguilera - Beautiful and it's perfect. :P

Edited by Tyler

also Guru Josh Project-Infinity 2008 :P...it was hit all over europe like it or not and you can still hear it on clubs.
and I think Natashas Unwritten will be much more memorable than These Words...u can still hear it on Pantenne commercials :lol:

and I think Beyonce Single Ladies is way bigger than Crazy In Love :P

and I'm out because I just realized this is based on UK chart positions and sales.
