Someone can be probed until their dying breath but they don't need to say anything unless they choose to.

I didn’t like that Mel B thing myself, I never watch that trashy TV. But I don’t get why Geri tries hard to erase something natural. We all have experiences when we’re young and we do things that sometimes we regret when we’re older, being ashamed is another thing though.

Let’s not forget we’re talking about Miss ‘I’m gonna pretend I’m having an affair with Chris Evans to get the no.1 spot over Emma’.

I’ve just watched Look At Me. Jeez, it also makes sense now 😂

That didn't affect Emma in any way other than losing out on a possible number 1 though so hardly the same situation.

Personally I think Lift Me Up deserved the top spot regardless as vocal faults aside I think it's the much better song. ^_^

Personally I think Melanie C sold more records than Beyoncé.

Personally I think that Stages... ok, no, that’s too much even for a joke.

All Spice discography group and solo > Viva Life > Lift Me Up > Stages.

This thread's been... an interesting read, and I think conclusions have been leapt to. Geri wearing white and acting "regal" does not automatically equal tory / someone who's anti-LGBTQ+ rights, and I don't think Geri's actually indicated recently what her political angle is? Please correct me if I'm wrong! I think this thread's been quite heated and it's a little uncomfortable to read, so let's try and base our opinions on the facts and not assumptions!

Well she said she supported May and Brexit last year. She calls Margret Thatcher the original spice girl.

She called Maggie T the original Spice Girl because she took life by the balls and clawed her way from greengrocer’s daughter to the most powerful position in the county, and in a time when we still lived in a very male dominated country... I loathe Thatcher but even I can appreciate that was a massive achievement and actually one of the pivotal points of “girl power” was not letting anyone stand in your way and that women could achieve just as much if not more than men...

Also she never said she supported May or Brexit as such just that we should try and support each other more regardless of our views and that the country was very divided. Never once did she say “I support Theresa May and her policies I voted Conservatives and to leave in Brexit” you’re just assuming that.

Yeah Geris Thatcher praise back in the day was clearly to do with her getting to where she was as a woman rather than her supporting her politics.

I'm amazed people didn't/don't see that.

This.

And I agree with schizo_spice that Geri was just looking to support a powerful woman with her comments about Thatcher. Geri was in her early 20s. She was a soundbite machine and said lots of somewhat bonkers things. "Thatcher was the first Spice Girl" was a statement that did its job in that...it got people talking. Did Geri understand Thatcher as a very complicated, controversial figure? I kind of doubt it. She was also a fan of Marilyn Monroe without having seen any of her movies.

As for her reaction to the Mel B fling...look. I would have also preferred that Geri just laugh it off and embrace the past. But in reality, her embarrassment isn't over the fact the fling's with a woman...it's WHO that person is. Geri readily admitted to having a lesbian relationship for years. But there's a reason "David Bowie slept with men" was a lot less salacious to the public than the claim "David Bowie slept with Mick Jagger." Geri and Mel B were already forever tied in the public eye...and the story of their fling (at least for a while) overwhelmed the attention to the actual reunion tour in the works. No matter how woke we think we are now, the world DID act like this was a huge scandal...and Geri probably knew that would happen. It's no one's place to tell Geri how she should feel about something this personal getting blurted out to the world.

As for her standing with the LGBT community, I think it's easy to forget something in 2020. It's a different world now. Pretty much all pop stars embrace their LGBT fans. That was not the case in Geri's late 90s/early 2000s heyday. It's not that pop stars were anti-LGBT (...mostly...). It's just many of them weren't overt in their support, really. Geri? She was never quiet about it. Even said she wrote songs for the gay community. Geri wasn't alone. There was, like...Madonna, for example. But Geri's fans were younger and were more likely to have the cash of conservative parents buying albums/singles. Geri probably had more to lose. Anyway. Her candor about it was something I definitely appreciated at the time.

Yes. This is why I'll always be thankful for her existence tbh. The first time I heard the word "queer" was in a Geri's song. I remember watching her debut interviews and she was amazingly outspoken about LGBT. It was the first time I heard the "gay" word because of one her debut interviews back in the day I had in my Spice interviews cd. I was 9. For a 9 year old kid who's from Middle East it was an eye opening moment for me. Like, I don't think some of you all understand what it meant to hear those "strange" words for a 9 year old kid. Woah, even writing about it made me kinda emotional. I'll always be grateful for Geri Halliwell. I really really don't want to believe that she's a Tory. She's a gay icon to me, to this date...

There is nothing wrong with being a Tory supporter. People should be allowed to vote to whichever party they want. We don't live in a dictatorship.

Of course, but supporting parties against civil rights is a bit contradicting for someone who used to ‘love’ the Gays so much aka the Gays who bought her records.

I love how Melanie C took the time to educate herself about the LGBTQ+ community. She’s humble and I appreciate that. Her political views are in line with what she says and the way she acts.

I really hope Geri proves me wrong. I would be THE FIRST to acknowledge that.

That said, still no news on her new projects?

Lol. Ofcourse people should vote for whichever party they want, just like people can be very critical about this exact same fact. That what makes a democracy. And believe me, there is a lot wrong with being a tory supporter (in my opinion).

This is exactly right and yes, I am also here for Geri to come around and educate herself.

She has teased more again, why does whatever it is not have a release date with these teasers?

OMG she’s coming! 11/08/2020 (Sunday? f***, it’s a Sunday!?)

There’s a new video on IG 😬

Imminent and (not) promising 😬

I'm intrigued by what this all is.

She went to a lot of trouble with those Elizabeth ads.
