I don't get why Geri gets hate for being a Tory :/

 

I voted conservative the last two GE and im a gay male on a 30k salary, so im just your average brit... don't get why people get so funny about politics.

I just cannot fathom how any LGBTQ+ member votes Tory with the track record they have when it comes to the community but oh well.

Geri got slaughtered on twitter and rightly so for that pic with Nadine. Every time you start to warm to Geri a bit again she reminds you she is a Tory, who wears white and puts on an awful fake accent.

Back to the Geri photo, really bad choice especially with Nadine who is pretty widely publicly ridiculed and disliked. The problem with Geri supporting conservative like this is that she came from quite a rags pauper background according to her and conservatives have never shown any support to the lower class citizens they have always been the better option for upper and middle class so it very much looks like she has forgotten her roots by publicly supporting them like this. Then there is the racism, sexism and homophobia which has always been very active within the party too, for an LGBTQ+ advocate to promote conservatives isn’t a great look.

She is a fascist and the fact that Geri keeps associating with these people is just disguting. The shit she is getting online is sadly not surprising considering everything. Even with Boris Johnson, who is a neo-fascist dressed as a clown for the cameras, she supports him.

 

It is revolting, really, and a dissapointment specially for someone who was once considered an icon of freedom and inclusivity.

I hope Geri isn't aware of Nadine's views, I know I shouldn't give her the benefit of the doubt. Geri's such an enigma.

Geri is just a lot cause at this point. It's almost Holly Valance/Candy levels and I honestly can't defend or support her. The fact she surrounds herself with those tory racists and homophobes just says everything about her and her views. You would expect better from someone like her with a huge gay following. I wonder how the other girls feel about this, especially the two Mel's.

I think it says a lot that Mel was clearly also just behind Nadine but there is no picture of her with Nadine anywhere to be seen. I think Mel is savvy enough to know it would not go down well anyway but she has also been subtly vocal of her dislike of the Conservative party in the past speaking out about how Geri’s thatcher comment never sat well with her and was not a view she shares. Attitudes have changed a lot in the north now but there is still a underlying dislike of Tories in Leeds I imagine Liverpool is the same.

No but it lends support to someone with those hideous views why would you want to spend time / have photos taken with them? I wouldn’t spend time with her if you paid me to.

 

Also Geri has been vocal about her support of Tories, Boris, Brexit in the past. As a public figure if she chooses to speak out / interact with the likes then she has to face the criticism of it. Nobody is bashing her more that it’s disappointing, which it is.

Her entire fan base is almost exclusively women and gay men and yet she wants to hand around and get photographed with a woman who wants to reduce the rights of both. I’ve still never read the Spectator 1996 interview in full, so I’d never seen that quote before. Geri (as well as a very outspoken Victoria) being massively Eurosceptic… well, that was a thing! Not sure if it was a sign of the times sort of thing, but the interview clearly didn’t derail their popularity at all back then. Maybe the lack of widespread internet and no social media meant it was overlooked by many. Whereas now if a popstar said any of these things it would be everywhere.

This epitomises why I can't stand her, she has always been nothing but a Tory c**t. Certainly no ally of mine, that's for sure.

There is deffo no need to call Geri any names, it is just seriously disappointing that someone who came from her background, lived her life and had the interaction with minorities she has had would be so swayed by her wealth and status now to essentially get in bed with the people who would have never given her a chance as a child or young woman.

 

Geri has always been what I called 'lost' and latches on to things to feel part of something. It is just a gut punch she has latched on to these sort of people, wearing white, talking in a faux posh accent and supporting awful people like Nadine and Boris.
