Posted March 18, 200817 yr Well the 21st Century has gone downhill imo for music from 2004 onwards. But what have been your favourite years for pop music and why? Mine are 2000 & 2002, 2003 I loved the fantastic Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera etc from 2000. 2002 has stunning songs from Enrique Iglesias (Escape), Vanessa Carlton (A Thousand Miles), The Calling (Wherever You Will Go), Sugababes (Freak Like Me) etc And 2003 was even better with the likes of Delta Goodrem  , Beyonce, S Club (7), S Club 8, Lisa Scott Lee, Holly Valance, Britney, Christina etc. However since then music has been on a downward slide with little in the way of wow songs for years.
March 18, 200817 yr ^ I think the reverse. The decade started off poorly, but picked up from 2004 onwards as manufactured pop stars went on the slide in popularity whilst more talented singer, songwriters have taken over, although it seems to have hit a plateau at the moment. So my vote is for 2006: Maneater, Hips Don't Lie, Chasing Cars, Patience, I Don't Feel Like Dancing, Rehab, Who Knew, Crazy, Something Kinda Oooh, Irreplaceable, America, Ain't No Other Man, All Time Love, SexyBack, Smile, Sorry, Fill My Little World, etc......
March 18, 200817 yr  I voted all 2002-2007  I think they've all been great depends what you're into, 2005 started off bad but towards the end of the year was amazing
March 18, 200817 yr 2007: Beautiful Liar, Shut Up And Drive, About You Now, Song 4 Mutya, 1234, With Every Heartbeat, Chelsea, Breakin Up, Starz In Their Eyes, Integral, Let Me Know, Acceptable In The 80s, Overpowered, Rock & Roll, Adrenaline, Lil Star, Me And My Imagination No other year comes remotely close.
March 19, 200817 yr Hmmm this is tough! All of the years started off pretty bad... but when you look back on them all of them turned out to be brilliant 'Classics' in their own right! But i would think 2004 - 2005 WERE AMAZING! Though! Alot of the songs reminded me of 'The Good Times' in life!
March 19, 200817 yr 2000, 2001 and 2006 for the following reasons 2000: Mariah Carey, Kim Lukas, Vanessa Amorosi, The Corrs having a UK No.1, loads of classic underrated pop songs that I still like now such as Made In London, M2M, Sister2Sister, never bought so many CD singles in one year! 2001: Atomic Kitten's rise, Dream, Bardot, Masai, started to love Eurovision and its songs, Kylie's Fever album, Sophie Ellis-Bextor's first album, N-Trance's Set You Free 2001 being released 2006: Shakira and Lily Allen owning my summer  All Saints great comeback single, The Veronicas, Daz Sampson's brilliant but underrated Eurovision entry, Girls Aloud still releasing amazing music five years on, Take That's comeback, The Pipettes!
March 19, 200817 yr there was good and bad in all these years, but i reckon 05 was the best. 06 started a decline, 07 was poorer and so far theres not much happening this year. kaisers 'oh my god' hard fi 'tied up too tight' amerie 'one thing' gorillaz 'feel good inc' juliet 'avalon' possibly tipped it in 05,s favour. but qotsa 'no one knows' (02) is for me THE best track of this decade so far

March 22, 200817 yr I voted for 2007. '02 - '04 and '07 :cheer: don't think I'll be adding '08 this time next year :( It might be a little it early to be disappointed yet. I mean this time last year a lot of of the best songs weren't out yet. "Umbrella", "Bleeding Love", "About You Now", "With Every Heartbeat" were all yet to be released. We did have some good songs already like "Grace Kelly" and "The Sweet Escape" this time last year though. -_-
