Posted March 24, 200817 yr I have always thought that when you download a music video from Itunes, it does count as one single sale for the Official Single Chart... But this week I noticed Mariah Carey's Touch My Body has spent the whole week at #1 on Itunes Music Video chart, but it's nowhere to be seen on the Official Single Chart... I guess she would have sold enough music videos to at least appear somewhere in the top200. So do the music video sales actually count or not? Or maybe the song has to be released first before adding the music video sales to it, which would be a bit silly... Well, I don't know, so if someone got the answer, let me know :)
March 24, 200817 yr Nope, I don't think they do. Like when 'Gimme More' was released, it was relesaed first on video download and I guess it sold quite well, but still didn't enter the chart. I think they should though..
March 24, 200817 yr Music Videos don't count as a single sale, OCC are going to introduce a new chart for videos, but I don't know when its happening.
March 24, 200817 yr that be cool tho 9even tho the top ten could be made up of porn, sorry i mean misistry of sound dance clips, that the hits cant show
March 24, 200817 yr or it means more music channels showing more top 10's instead of a playlist. I am sooo sick of the top 50 cheesiest videos and Charley's Top 10 hits and all that
March 24, 200817 yr ... the top ten could be made up of porn, sorry i mean ministry of sound dance clips, that the hits cant show You make a good point. You could end up with a Top 10 singles chart made up of slutty videos. It would have nothing to do with the music being any good, just how many half naked girls appear in the video. Not good :( Edited March 24, 200817 yr by britster

March 24, 200817 yr Author You make a good point. You could end up with a Top 10 singles chart made up of slutty videos. It would have nothing to do with the music being any good, just how many half naked girls appear in the video. Not good :( Well, look at Itunes videos chart : 01. Girls Aloud - Can't speak french 02. Chris Brown 14. Mark Ronson - Valerie It's hardly porn.
March 24, 200817 yr Music Videos don't count as a single sale, OCC are going to introduce a new chart for videos, but I don't when its happening. That will be the official video download chart. I believe it`s going to happen before the end of the year.

It`s a gimmick to capture the males attention :puke2:
March 24, 200817 yr I thought they were included in the chart months ago? I remember people being a bit pissed because they were going to include them before downloads counted from the moment of release rather than the week of their physical release.
March 24, 200817 yr that be cool tho 9even tho the top ten could be made up of porn, sorry i mean misistry of sound dance clips, that the hits cant show  That would be funny. "Labels" could release videos with a bit of music on them and they could pass off as a music video and be number 1 forever even if the only version was a "music" video
March 25, 200817 yr Just because a video is sexy doesnt mean its 'Porn' lol (Girls Aloud's videos, Mariahs videos, Sugababes videos)
March 25, 200817 yr I am sooo sick of the top 50 cheesiest videos and Charley's Top 10 hits and all that  My problem is that I tend to like a large proportion of the 'cheesiest' songs... :)
March 25, 200817 yr Mariah's video is pretty close to porn tho... I'm a little worried about your idea of porn... :heehee:
March 25, 200817 yr That`s why they sale though. It`s a gimmick to capture the males attention :puke2: Well unless the video was on the CD i dont think you'd catch a guy buying a Girls Aloud single do you?? :heehee: they need to get the male attention somehow! lol Coz the majority of the male population like Not radio friendly stuff so the video is the only way of capturing their attention to the song! lol
March 26, 200817 yr well filling your video with scantly clad ladies - it does work Let's face it - it's the only reason why Jessica Simpson's version of TBAMFW made No4 in 2005 - the song itself was sh!t.
