The Corrs - Forgiven Not Forgotten http://www.yourmusic.com/images/200x200/1/0/2/102867.jpg Early 1999 and I along with everyone else decided to buy The Corrs debut album Forgiven Not Forgotten which came out in 1995 originally. The power of a £6 price tag in most shops led to this album rocketing up to No.2 in the UK chart at the same time that their second album Talk On Corners was at No.1...I can't think of any other time since that the same act has had both albums in the top 2! Anyway, this album thoroughly deserved its belated success as it is a brilliant mixture of traditional Irish instrumentals and amazing pop rock songs. A lot harder than their later material anyway... KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope http://www.offliners.dk/covers/KT%20Tunstall%20-%20Eye%20to%20the%20Telescope.jpg Another amazing debut, Scottish singer KT first came to my attention in late 2004 following the release of Black Horse & The Cherry Tree...I had to get this album ASAP and I'm glad I did as its stunning. Beautiful indie ballads mixed with edgy pop rock classics, its just a shame that Drastic Fantastic felt weaker in every way... April 10, 200817 yr Author 11-20 recap 11. KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope 12. The Corrs - Forgiven Not Forgotten 13. Sarah McLachlan - Afterglow 14. The Corrs - In Blue 15. Bardot - Bardot 16. Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten 17. Alice Deejay - Who Needs Guitars Anyway? 18. Christina Aguilera - Christina Aguilera 19. Take That - Beautiful World 20. Kylie Minogue - Ultimate Kylie I'll do the top ten slightly differently now...they warrant more of my time as they are the ten albums that have helped me through life (what a cliched thing to say!). I will rate every track out of ten but it doesn't necessarily mean that the track with the highest averages will be higher like in David's countdown because I have to account for other factors such as nostalgia/how much I still listen to the album now etc...
April 10, 200817 yr Author 10. Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts http://www.acountry.com/images/carrieunderwood_somehearts.jpg American Idol Season 5 winner Carrie Underwood impressed me a lot with her debut single Inside Your Heaven. I'd followed the series throughout and had wanted her to win from the start despite not usually being into country music at all. Needless to say, when she released her debut album Stateside in late 2005 I snapped it up straight away online. On first listen it sounded a bit 'too country' but after a few listens I slowly got into it and every track in its own way began to worm its way around my head, leading to almost the entire album making an appearance in my singles chart at some point or another in 2006...I believe its one of America's biggest selling albums of the decade too, and deservedly so to be honest because its stunning! April 10, 200817 yr 26. Nelly Furtado - Loose http://www.roton.ro/imagini/1154434529_NELLY%20FURTADO_mare.jpg This is a great album. :D The singles definately p*** all over the album tracks though. 24. Shakira - Oral Fixation Vol.2 http://music.km.ru/images/cds200/shakira-oral-fixation2005.jpg I still love 'Don't Bother' tbh. Great album again, brings back many memories of early 2006 for me! 22. The Veronicas - The Secret Life Of... http://www.slantmagazine.com/images/music/secretlifeoftheveronicas.jpg Very average album imo, only a couple of songs I really liked. 11. KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope http://www.offliners.dk/covers/KT%20Tunstall%20-%20Eye%20to%20the%20Telescope.jpg Again, very average I thought. The singles were good, the rest were forgettable I thought. :( Good stuff though so far Rich. :w00t:
April 10, 200817 yr Author :o I can understand people finding KT's album average in places (though I love it all) but The Veronicas album is amazing
April 10, 200817 yr 18. Christina Aguilera - Christina Aguilera http://www.speedace.info/music/musicimages/christina_aguilera_album_cover_debut.jpg A fine debut album back in 1999 from Xtina consisting of Disney ballads and R&B pop songs...it sounds a tad dated now but for two years this ruled my life, and if it was remade with up to date production, these songs could sound just as good now... Best Tracks: Reflection Blessed I Turn To You Genie In A Bottle What A Girl Wants    I Turn To You is one of my fave Christina Aguilera songs EVER! 17. Alice Deejay - Who Needs Guitars Anyway? http://www.woolworths.co.uk/product_images/10/31/86/10318664.jpg No guitars needed here...Alice Deejay's pop trance gave them 3 UK top ten singles in 1999/2000 and this albumOn went top 10 too! A brilliant collection of tracks, which I was so desperate to buy that I bought it on import for £17 because I couldn't wait 4 more months for its official UK release...a tad cheesy in places but a great album for fans of Cascada/Fragma etc... Best Tracks: Better Off Alone Back In My Life The Lonely One Will I Ever? Everything Begins With An E I LOVED LOVED LOVED 'Back In My Life' but i loved 'Better Off Alone' more! ^_^ 16. Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten http://www.yourmusic.com/images/200x200/1/6/2/162095.jpg Having not been a fan of Single, and certainly not a fan of her brother Daniel, I was surprised when I heard These Words, feeling that it was an incredible pop song! I bought the album on the day of release and have never regretted it. A mixture of gorgeous ballads and quirky anthemic pop songs, it wasn't out of my CD player for at least six months!!! Best Tracks: These Words Unwritten Wild Horses Silent Movie I Bruise Easily One of my fave albums ever too! and i felt so similar to you, not liking 'Single' or Daniel beforehand! :o Wild Horses is easily the best song Natasha has ever done IMO!
April 10, 200817 yr Author cheers again John! I agree with you about Wild Horses...it should have been released in place of I Bruise Easily, would have been a much better ballad option  Xtina's I Turn To You was hugely underrated, I can't believe it missed the top 10

April 10, 200817 yr Nice to see KT Tunstall at #11. Surely the most underrated artist on my personal chart, but obviously not here :D . I think im the only person in the world who prefers Drastic Fantastic
April 11, 200817 yr Author I like Drastic Fantastic but I just think ETTT is so much stronger and more personal...plus it brings back memories for me...I have no memories attached to DF...Hold On for example was b-side material...even the b-sides in the ETTT era were all amazing
April 11, 200817 yr Author 9. Shakira - Laundry Service http://www.zicline.com/an4/semaine19/shakira.jpg The first I heard of this lady was in early 2002 when the music video to Whenever, Wherever was plastered all over the TV...the song was so unique but I absolutely loved it and snapped up the import version of the album (Servicio De Lavanderia) straight away. Needless to say, I didn't think that single would be bettered so the moment Underneath Your Clothes started I was blown away. Such a simple ballad but beautiful nonetheless. I grew to absolutely adore the album. Alongside the singles, it has some excellent Spanish language tracks as well as some real oddities (Poem To A Horse anyone?) but nearly every song on there is charming in some way and in my eyes, it marked the transition from singer to superstar for the Colombian! April 11, 200817 yr Author 8. ATB - Movin' Melodies http://img.mp3sugar.com/album/cover24_21.jpg The first dance album I ever bought...summer 1999 and 9PM (Till I Come) was the first dance song I fell in love with, starting my long love affair with the genre! I got this album on import and was stunned at its quality. Never before and never since had a dance album captured my attention in the same way that this one did. This is the German version of the album...the UK version has all of the UK remixes (though the German mix of Don't Stop is far better) but it lacked the excellent, dark atmospheric track Too Much Rain. Still a favourite of mine today, these 14 tracks have really stood the test of time... Track by track rating: 1. The First Tones 9/10 2. Emotion 9/10 3. Underwater World 9/10 4. I ordered it online and completely forgot about it for two weeks. When it finally arrived I fell in love with it...I listened to it about six times in one day and the simple but effective guitar melodies ended up in my head instantly...perfect all throughout last summer and I still listen to it quite regularly almost a year on...Colbie is a true star, Bubbly has been a hit in nearly every country in the world apart from the UK, but its Britain's loss because this album is sublime and I can't wait for the next one!
