With her multi-octave voice and more than 80 million records sold worldwide, it's no surprise that pop diva Mariah Carey is viewed as the successor to Whitney Houston. She emerged as the premier R&B/pop songstress of the 1990s, and by the end of the decade had shifted gears a bit by collaborating with the likes of Ol' Dirty bast*rd and incorporating elements of hip-hop into her sound. Though her 2001 big-screen debut, GLITTER, was a total flop and something of a blow to Carey's seemingly Teflon career, her 2005 comeback record, THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI, solidified her status as a true pop-music diva. - HMV

The Kooks formed in 2004 while all four members were attending the Brighton Institute for Modern Music, the rock school set up by Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Paying homage to their influences, the group displayed an accessible (and bankable) mix of Brit Pop, Kinks-like hooks, and Libertines-style punk swagger. In 2006, the band's highly anticipated debut album, INSIDE IN/INSIDE OUT, rocketed into the top five of the U.K. album charts. - HMV

I'm so excited about the sales this week, and I'm so happy that Tangled Up went so high :D

Here is the video for Madonna - 4 Minutes (if you haven't watched it yet)

I often do that too. I like buying the ones with pretty covers

If djcharly designed all the album covers in the world I'd buy everything!

I'm sure it will do. And then hopefully it'll follow The Feeling, Hard-Fi, Blunt etc and fall fairly quickly and be lucky to sell 1/3 of the debut!

New single is dreadful, devoid of anything that made them remotely good first time round.

Oddly enough, I was just saying the same to Mykul. The album will be number 1 then flop, as will the next single.

Really? I think it's the best thing they've done so far.

Wow, this is the biggest hit in the career for the Kooks. too bad the Kooks despite being a good act hasn't issued a song that you might say could be a signature hit for them yet.
