May 27, 200619 yr the single was deleted last year, but the new rules about deleted records didn't come in until March this year. As soon as the rule was introduced, the record was removed from the chart. That was over 2 months ago and were it not for that rule, the record would STILL be in the top 75 - it still sells enough copies each week, and a few weeks ago it was selling enough to have re-entered the top 40 once again... Thats true - It would still be there :(
May 28, 200619 yr I thought a song still had two weeks on the chart after it is deleted then it gets disqualified
May 28, 200619 yr The thing is, why should they or the record company care if people get sick of it? They're getting the sales, that should be all that matters. As if 'Smiley Faces' is gonna do anywhere near as well anyway, they should enjoy the success they're getting from this.
May 28, 200619 yr Definatley to be deleted, confirmed today on Music Week website Gnarls Barkley single is deleted Source Music Week Gnarls Barkleys' Crazy is to be deleted tomorrow (Monday) after topping the chart for the ninth consecutive week. The decision has been announced by Warner Bros, who want to prepare for the release of the second single, Smiley Faces, which is scheduled for release on July 17. In announcing the decision, Warner Bros Managing director Korda Marshall says, "Crazy has proved to be a huge international smash hit that has ravelled and communicated around the world incredibly well. We feel that the album, St Elsewhere, is such a strong depth of work that we want to move onto Smiley Faces for the summer." Crazy is an historic number one, becoming the first single to top the chart on digital sales alone more than two months ago. It is also one of the Top 10 most enduring number ones in UK chart history and the longest standing chart topping single in the history of Warner Music UK. The success of Crazy has also helped create a double for Warner Bros, which claims the top spot in both albums and singles charts for the third successive week this week - the albums chart is topped by Red Hot Chili Peppers' Arcadium.
May 28, 200619 yr No - They are allowed two more weks after being deleted.... I think the OCC will realise this rule's $h!t and change it so it doesn't go 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-?-?-OUT anyway...
May 28, 200619 yr Well if Gnarls does drop from the no1 next week, bye bye friend, it's been great while it lasted.http://www.devotedfansnetwork.com/forums/images/smilies/sadgoodbye.gif
May 28, 200619 yr Aww I wanted its chart run to be 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-out :( but if it can be on for two more weeks it might not be!
May 30, 200619 yr I can't stand 'Crazy' and it will be a relief to get a new number 1. Now if only they could delete it from the radio and our memory too that would be great! ;) :P
May 30, 200619 yr Who the hell is Warner to say what we can and cannot buy? I'm with James Masterton on this one!
May 30, 200619 yr Sorry if I ask, but I think they are deleting the cd single...what about downloads ? Will they be considered anyway ? It would be so funny if Crazy stays at #1 thanx only to downloads ;) LifeLight
May 30, 200619 yr I think downloads count for two weeks and then the whole single is starred out :( Thats correct, all sales (download and physical) will count for 2 weeks, then its gone from the chart! :o
