Oddball Brooklyn-based duo MGMT (aka Management) produce spacey electronic rock that is both engaging and playful. Consisting of singer/multi-instrumentalists Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden, MGMT's debut set ORACULAR SPECTACULAR is produced by David Fridmann (Flaming Lips), although they had originally requested that either 'Prince, Barack Obama, Nigel Godrich and not Sheryl Crow' would be on studio duties. MGMT featured in both the top ten of BBC's Sound of 2008 poll and in Rolling Stones's Ten Artists To Watch 2008 list. - HMV

A discovery of pop-punk superstars Fall Out Boy, the Las Vegas emo band Panic! At the Disco (named for a Smiths song), stormed the charts in 2005 while its members were barely old enough to vote. Offering a highly danceable take on the emo formula of pop melodies, punk guitars, and heart-on-sleeve lyrics, Panic! are as much a symbol of the power of new digital media--download sites, blogs, DIY Internet outlets like My Space--as they are of the state of music in the early 2000s. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, the band's debut album, FEVER YOU CAN'T SWEAT OUT, sold almost 10,000 copies the first week of its release. - HMV

Oh dear LORD, why must you lot continually slag off F&R? I think we GET the picture - you don't LIKE them or their important, life-changing statistical errors - but how about we talk about the music? -_-

We are talking about the chart, and they are part of it. If they do it wrong, then we comment.

I was thinking the same thing lol... So Rihanna's had 3 albums not 2... big whoop

To say i thought this was going Top 5 after the physcal was released and it missed out... theyre holding up quite well with NITA :D

Indeed they are but everyone knows they make mistakes. Not going to make much of a difference having 15 people in a thread say 'SHE'S RELEASED 3 ALBUMS NOT 2 ' etc is it? Doesn't make for interesting reading on anyone's behalf...

Come on Girl is holding up well aswell! :D Shame about his album! :(

Alison Goldfrapp first gained notoriety for her astonishing vocal work on albums by Tricky and techno duo Orbital. She joined forces with composer Will Gregory in the late 1990s to create her own moody, sensual version of contemporary electronica. With a succession of critically lauded albums, the duo honed their approach and utilised an assortment of influences ranging from traditional soundtrack themes and vintage pop to '80s synth sounds, disco, and glam rock to create one of the most intriguing and satisfying electronica hybrids to emerge from the genre since its inception. - HMV

Perhaps a page is overkill, I will admit.

We all post at around the same time...

I like Goldfrapps stuff much better than their other stuff but 'A&E' is by far their best Single IMO! and this is slowly growing on me, even though the video is kinda

Goldfrapp - Happiness my Personal Chart #1 for the last three weeks, taken from the best album I've bought in 2008 so far.
