May 30, 200619 yr So with Gnarls, is it just that the shops have stopped reciving anymore copies but the ones they do have are still counting towards the chart? Yes that's it ;) I too hope Gnarls can manage another week ^_^
May 30, 200619 yr I hope it'll do a 10th week to! stupid that they've deleted it though It could have easily been a million seller, did they not want that to their name?!
May 30, 200619 yr I hope it'll do a 10th week to! stupid that they've deleted it though It could have easily been a million seller, did they not want that to their name?! No, its because they dont want the song over-shadowing the promotion of the next single, Smiley Faces.
May 30, 200619 yr No, its because they dont want the song over-shadowing the promotion of the next single, Smiley Faces. ..somehow I can't see Smiley Faces doing better then crazy, (even though it's a good song) Edited May 30, 200619 yr by Rikrokk
May 30, 200619 yr ..somehow I can't see Smiley Faces doing better then crazy, (even though it's a good song) I hope it gets to Number 1 as well, its an excellent song.
May 30, 200619 yr I hope it gets to Number 1 as well, its an excellent song. My hunch is that Smiley Faces if download only, will debut at around #8 and then spend a short stint (2 weeks?) at #1. Then again, I might be very wide of the mark
May 30, 200619 yr 01 Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (31 copies behind) Not sure what song's meant to be 31 copies ahead of Sandi Thom... As for Gnarls Barkley, assuming the deletion is genuine and not a massive publicity stunt (like Wet Wet Wet), it could be that they are planning to include a re-mix of Crazy as a b-side to Smiley Faces (this will be eligible if Crazy is no longer in the chart!).
May 30, 200619 yr Personally I find the midweek Top2 rather ironic. Baring in mind Gnarls Barkley's single is being deleted, the physical copy was still available in large quantities this lunch hour to buy in Woolworths, HMV & Virgin in Swindon, yet all three stores did not have any stock left of the Sandi Thom's single! I hope Gnarls Barkley fails to get to #1 on Sunday, because announcing that you are deleting a single while failing to mention that the shops will still have c.30,000 physical copies to shift (which on top of the downloads) should comfortably see it have a 10th week at #1, hardly suggests that the single is going to drop dramatically in the next two weeks! In short it smacks of a cheap publicity stunt.
May 30, 200619 yr I'm kind of rooting for Gnarls to manage a 10th week, not that I'm still overly keen with the song itself, but it'd be a great achievement! I thought Keane would easily be top 2, with Pink top 5. I hope Pink climbs anyway...
May 30, 200619 yr God that Sandi Thom song is absolutely dreadful. She has an amazing voice but its so BORING!!!! Keane definitely deserved the top spot this week such an AWESOME tune. One of their best!!! Hopefully it will climb!!
May 30, 200619 yr I thought Tony Christie's latest single was "...to the World Cup" and not "...Amarillo"? Edited May 30, 200619 yr by Sound-Bite
