Sandi Thom, RCA’s first signing since Sony BMG announced its repertoire split last year, looks set to grab the number one spot on the UK charts next week with her debut single I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker.

Lifted from the album, Smile… It Confuses People, the song has passed the now deleted Gnarls Barkley single, Crazy, on midweek sales reports from most retailers.

Ronan Keating also looks set to enter the Top 10 with his new single, All Over Again, a duet with folk singer Kate Rusby.

The song is Keating's first since his Greatest Hits in 2005. Meanwhile both Keane' s Is It Any Wonder?, Pink's Who Knew and Oakenfold with Brittany Murphy have climbed into the Top 10 following their physical singles releases last week.

It’s a number one result for Orson's debut album, Bright Idea, which is currently the biggest-seller for UK retailers. The album looks set to debut ahead of the Red Hot Chili Peppers who continue to hold second position.

Elsewhere it looks to be a stable week for retail with most of the albums within the Top 20 maintaining a very steady sales pattern. The Futureheads new album, News & Tributes, is on track to debut inside the Top 10, while recent touring act, AFI, provide the only other new entry to the Top 20 with Decemberunderground at number 15.

So is Gnarls gonna be out of the chart completely?

Glad Sandi Thom is heading for #1, although I'm not 100% keen on it myself.

Really liking that Ronan & Kate song too, hope it can hold up well and maybe push for a top five.

I wonder where Keane and Pink are, to me the MW report seems to be very vague

Has Gnarls been deleted this week then? :o

Its really bugging me actually it could be at No.2 for all I know, its still got another 2 weeks lifeline in the chart, and than it gets starred out, according to the chart rules, by OCC

On the bright side, pardon the expression since its the title of Orson's album  Sandi Thom is the 4th track to climb to No.1 this year.

1027 04 Feb Notorious B.I.G. featuring Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge & Avery Storm Nasty Girl 2wks

1031 25 Mar Orson No Tomorrow 1wk

1032 01 Apr Ne-Yo So Sick 1wk

At least its making the single charts more interesting than the recurring new entry at No.1

Any Stan Boardman news, Mikey?

is that supposed to be this weeks biggest footy single?

or is neil and christine hamilton's effort out as well
