June 14, 200817 yr I think Ne-Yo could do it, but I think it would be 1: unfortunate and 2: possible for Chris Brown to get it next week as his physical is out next week, and we've seen how physicals can beat download only sales on select weeks, I think Ne-Yo may run out of steam but I would like to be surprised, that is if Mint Royale arent toppled this week, who knows......
June 14, 200817 yr Coldplay - "Viva La Vida" - #2 on iTunes, and it's only just started getting airplay. It has massive crossover potential.

June 14, 200817 yr I think Coldplay could be #1 in the future, but not yet. Anyone know when Viva La Vida is actually released?
June 15, 200817 yr Author Am I wrong in thinking next week is gonna be the most wide open contest for No1 this year? We've seen some close battles between Basshunter/Adele, Duffy/Leona and The Ting Tings/Rihanna but I'd say realistically Coldplay, Mint Royale, Ne-Yo and maybe even Chris Brown stand a decent shot at the top spot. Here's my take on the contenders:- Mint Royale At lot of people thought this would run out of steam this week yet it's still there and it's beyond a dead cert to be No1 later today... It even increased its lead over Rihanna during the week so a third week at No1 isn't out of the question with all three versions holding on exceptionally well. Coldplay Not even a single yet but picking up the airplay and attention as the stand out track from VLVODAAHF #2 on iTunes in prime position to overtake Mint Royale if it does suddenly run out of steam. Ne-Yo We saw with Madonna that tracks sales can go through the roof the week prior to release with increasing promo activity and airplay this certainly will be No1 the only question is next week or the week after? Chris Brown The outsider but consider 'With You' leapt 17-8 in a strong sales week with physicals added so in a quiet week could 'Forever' leap 8-1? It would be a fluke but with sales on the slide (maybe as low as <25k next week) at the top and unpredictable sales patterns you'd never know. Edited June 15, 200817 yr by ej87
June 15, 200817 yr Ne-Yo HOPEFULLY! I love Chris Browns song but I think that will stall to number 2... and Coldplay have a chance but even if it reaches number 1 on iTunes doesnt mean they will get number 1 on the official chart... take Violet Hill for example that was number 1 for about a week and a half on iTunes but only made number 8... so... I also think it will be next week, but theres a chance it could be the week after too...

June 15, 200817 yr I think the next chart will definitely have the new number one, not that i don't like Mint Royale song :heehee: Hope it will be Coldplay who throws Singing In The Rain off the pedestal
