I confess I have chosen 2nd option :kink:

1.

If a songs $h!t, its $h!t regardless of whether the artist is well known or not.

eg i would never give points to Shape or My Love Is Pink just because they are Sugababes songs. Mainly because they are f***ing dreadful, but i wouldn't hesitate to give points to Never Gonna Dance Again or Run For Cover coz they are

2 I think. I vote for the songs I like the best, but generally I wont give songs that I knew well high points. For example, if someone entered "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse, it would probably be my favourite entry overall but I would probably end up giving it about 6 points because I already knew it and I like finding new songs or bringing albums tracks to my attention in this contest.
For the song, if its pretty new to me and good then I'll vote for it.
For The Song Mainly. Because it is a SONG contest... and I agree with Phillywilly ^_^
I'd have to say #1, I don't really take famous artists into account, I just hate half of the famous artists naturally
I go for #2 mainly - if somebody entered Umbrella, despite the fact it's one of my favourite songs of all time, I would be too disgusted at such a cheap entry to give it any points. Yes, it's a song contest, but somebody entering stuff like Umbrella and Say It Right would just be a ridiculously cheap attempt at victory - what would it doing well prove? We already know that they're popular songs...I give my top points usually to obscure songs that I love or my favourite songs that the contest has introduced to me
Well since this will be my first time voting, my votes will mostly be about the songs but something like Bleeding Love, About You Now and Mercy would be hideous entries.

Mercy was used, before it reached #1 though.

It's funny you say that as Mercy was actually an entry! In all fairness though, it was over a month before it was released so it wasn't anywhere near as cheap as it would look now :P I'm very surprised it only finished 3rd actually...I thought it was set for second place but then Europe shoved it out of the way :(

as well as Love Song now :o

People predict future UK top hits so right :o

btw how would Basshunter have finished if Now You Are Gone was used in BJSC1 or BJSC2 :kink:

I think it would have done badly because most people dislike the song. I doubt it would have been last though, it has a few fans I guess.

Not too well I don't think...Now You're Gone wasn't amazingly popular on here, top 10 in the Multichart I think.

I vote for song and song only...if Love Song (which i know has been used before) was used in this competition, then it is extremely likely to get high points off of me because i love the song that much!!!

If some random song from an unkown artist was to top that, then i would be like WOW and give that the 12 :) It doesn't matter to me how well te song is doing in the charts as long as it is good!!! The reason most albums tracks do not tend to do as well is because they were not selected to be singles as they were not good enough. If they are not good enough then they're not likely to do well are they??? You do get some album tracks/b-sides that are generally amazing and SHOULD have been a single in a lot of people's opinions, but in general, they are not good enough.

Did any of that make sense???

I'll have you know I won with an album track. :smoke: (all be it a live performance)

I've boldened the key points :)

I'd disagree, I say generally when album tracks are entered into this contest they tend to be the ones that people believe should've been singles - examples of that being Gwen - Wonderful Life, Jordin - Freeze (although that flopped miserably, I daresay it would do better if entered for this contest ). Don't you think it would also be ridiculously lazy were someone to enter Love Song now? I could never bring myself to reward someone so lazy that they just cherry picked what's popular in the charts for their entry :(

But it's a good song...and that's why it's doing so well in the charts...THIS IS A SONG CONTEST!!!

And as i mentioned...Most album tracks are'nt that great. Of course there's gonna be one or two people that love a particular album track, but the vast majority of people MIGHT no like it. That's the risk i took when choosing Fall For Anything, and it doesn't look like it's going to pay off for me this time :| :(
