Girls seems to be growing quite rapidly on people now, from what I can see. This time next month I just know the majority will love it. :D It's so good to see them step outside their safety zone too.

If that safety zone is to release a fantastic original contemporary pop single as the first release from their forthcoming album then you are correct. But I don't see what is good about covering a ropey TV advert. What next Girls Aloud's new single being a single version of the Bodyform advert?

Safety zone? Sugababes doing Heavy Metal, THAT would be them stepping out of their safety zone.

Yeah, I fail to see how this is stepping out of their safety zone either. This is just as 'safe' as anything on Change, except even more awful than the many dud tracks that album had.

This will definitely be remembered as one of their worst singles in years to come on a universal level, if not as their absolute worst.

Sugababes should do crunk, as in Ciara, then they could break into the US

I don't see it as safe whatsoever. It's missing the electro (Push The Button, Easy) or pop-rock (Hole In The Head, About You Now) of their previous lead singles and what with it's horns it actually seems to me as if it's aimed at a slightly older market. All opinion obviously, but I think the general shock reaction to the song shows that it's rather different for the Babes, and to me it's on the other side of the pop genre.

I might appreciate this "new sound" more if it did shock me like you said Jark but to be honest its just plain boring, I'm not shocked just dissapointed.

IMHO The general shock reaction from music fans is not because they've changed their sound, but rather because their high level of quality control on first singles from album releases has dropped dramatically with this glorified cover.

I think what it is, is after the amazing About You Now, I think i was expecting more from them tbh. I think i am disappointed more than anything and so im not enjoying it as much as i should.

I liked the version on the Boots ad, as i think the song itself is quite good, and the babes do a competent cover, so it idefinitely isn't awful but it does seem a little safe and it's usually Sugababes fans pointing out how Girls Aloud are so fond of cover territory!

Think it'll do fine as its based on a well known song

cover territory!

This isn't a cover though, its an interpolude. I think thats how you spell it

the song sucks and i'm willing to bet the album will, too.

It's an extended sample, and nobody complained when they did the same thing with (the severely overrated) Freak Like Me :heehee: A fair few of their singles use samples. Red Dress and Hole In The Head both did too.

Sugababes last studio album "Change" was there lowest of there carrer , as they preper to realise there new LP in October will it flop or be a hit ?

I'm sorry, your sign is broken. Let me fix it:

There! No paint or tools needed at all! I'm a genius! :naughty:

I think the difference between the songs you mention and 'Girls' is that the sample is of a song that is more widely known in the UK because of a particular advert. 'Freak Like Me' was a cover of a minor hit from 7 years before the Sugababes released it so it was probably forgotten by most people but I agree with you, 'Freak Like Me' is very overrated, it was my least favourite lead single from them. I'm not sure what songs the other two sample but I don't have a problem with people sampling songs if they can make it work (e.g. 'Don't Stop The Music') and I think those two songs did that.

If the Ernie K-Doe song hadn't been used to advertise Boots then I'm sure I'd like this a song a little more because the original wasn't released and only entered the top 75 after the advert was aired. I'd still think it was a weak lead single after their last two were so great, but I probably wouldn't be as bitter towards it. I guess that sounds like a stupid attitude to have thinking about it.

Actually their debut, "One Touch", sold less than "Change" did. ;) But you could say it was a flop after their last three studio albums sold over 800K. -_-

Most people will think of it as a cover, as they are sampling a well known song.

Girls continues to grow on me slightly on every listen.

I don't think 'Freak Like Me' is overrated. 'Push The Button' however... -_-

I agree.

I'm understand why PTB is popular, but it's never been a favourite of mine. One of the weaker tracks on TIMW in my opinion. Ace Reject in much better :D PTB was overplayed.

i still love it.

as for the comments about the worst single. Follow Me Home :puke:and Shape :puke: :puke: :puke: come to mind.

The version of WTW the girls did on their tour was so much better

'Follow Me Home' is a fantastic song, but I prefered it when it was an album track. It was one of those songs where making it a single ruined it for me, 'In God's Hands' by Nelly Furtado and 'Just A Ride' by Jem being others.
