September 16, 200816 yr but Song 4 Mutya was expected to be No.1 by some people...I thought it was going to be anyway
September 16, 200816 yr I didn't think 'Song 4 Mutya' would get to #1, but at one point I thought it stood a chance of getting top 3.
September 16, 200816 yr it had everything going for it, hype, coming off the back of a successful Mutya debut single, a big name duet, huge airplay but two things killed it in my opinion: 1) the radio edit/Mutya album version was awful compared to the Groove Armada album version...it was cut in all the wrong places 2) the video was terrible, so cheap, an animated video in the style of the single cover could have been excellent and would have drawn more attention to the song
September 16, 200816 yr Girls Aloud - Call The Shots Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Oooh Both showed signals of going to no.1 but shockingly never actually made it.
September 16, 200816 yr 2) the video was terrible, so cheap, an animated video in the style of the single cover could have been excellent and would have drawn more attention to the song The video reminded me of some dodgy town fete  Edited September 16, 200816 yr by Harve
September 16, 200816 yr The video reminded me of some dodgy town fete  ...filmed on somebody's mobile phone camera :kink: the extreme close up's of Mutya were tasteless and the editing in the video was awful, whoever directed it needs shooting
September 17, 200816 yr the alternate edit was even worse. a green screen backdrop with Mutya's head in front and a random flash of the Groove Armada logo. That release was f***ed up, and it was even sabotaged by Universal Island
September 17, 200816 yr Something Kinda Ooh was one of GA's worst singles IMO Anyways...Sugababes "Easy" definitely. Really expected it to be #1, amazing song.
September 17, 200816 yr I myself didnt think Easy had a chance of making number 1. If anything i thought All Saints Rock Steady would get there instead.
September 17, 200816 yr Gimme More, Piece Of Me, Bewar Of The Dog, You Wan't Forget About Me, Better In Time, Something Kinda Ooh, Sexy No No No, Denial, Real Girl, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Thnks Fr Th Mmrs... moreee...
September 17, 200816 yr Denial and Thanks For The Memories expected to be #1s? :o No, they wern't really - I think people are confusing the point of the thread :P
September 17, 200816 yr Author I myself didnt think Easy had a chance of making number 1. If anything i thought All Saints Rock Steady would get there instead. They SO should've been #1! Much better than U2/Green Day song and Westlife.
September 17, 200816 yr Denial and Thanks For The Memories expected to be #1s? :o yea, both songs missed top 10 , but both songs is really great and desrve to be #1. Just my thoughts.
September 17, 200816 yr Author yea, both songs missed top 10 , but both songs is really great and desrve to be #1. Just my thoughts. Sorry, but you're not getting the point of the thread. Its not about songs that deserved to be #1, its about songs that were expected to be #1s.
September 17, 200816 yr That songs are great, and I expected that will be #1. Denial is better pop song than About You Know.
September 17, 200816 yr Easy kinda was expeced to be #1 until it premièred on radio. After all lead singles from the babes albums have a habit of reaching the top spot
September 17, 200816 yr Really surprised no-one has said this one, at least I don't think they have... Fighter - Christina Aguilera. Off the back of 2 previous (inferior, in my opinion) singles, that both reached number 1, and an amazing video - I thought this was a dead cert! Damn Evanescene & R Kelly! September 18, 200816 yr They SO should've been #1! Much better than U2/Green Day song and Westlife. Rock Steady is a great pop song  was my 2nd favourite song of 2006 (after Hips Don't Lie...) two stupid fanbase buys stopped it from reaching the top
