13 years without a Girls Aloud studio album :cry:

 

and 12 years without YVA studio album. :cry:

 

13 years! How has it been that long? I remember buying it in the Woolies closing down sale...! :lol:

Unpopular opinion but I still think this is their best studio album.

 

What a final album to go out on :heart:

 

 

Listening to this for the very first time (up to Love Is The Key) and it's very good. Must say they nailed the singles choices.

Overall a much stronger first half of the album for me.

 

Standouts include:

The Promise, The Loving Kind, Untouchable, Rolling Back In The Rivers Of Time, Miss You Bow Wow, Turn To Stone.

Apparently Out of Control reissue is coming quite soon! And 'Miss You Bow Wow (Sarah's Version)' will apparently be the first release?? Exciting if this is true!

Oh I love that! Sarah’s “I remember living that dream” is such a moment, perhaps overlooked by the iconic moments of Something New, The Promise etc. I’d love to hear a version with her on lead vocals.

When they labeled the 'Tangled Up' reissue as a Deluxe, rather than the 20th Anniversary Version (and decided not to wait until next year), I did half wonder if they'd aim to get this out of the way before any 25th anniversary stuff next year!

I reckon that's probably correct then, and will likely be around a November release ('Tangled Up' had a pretty quick turnaround between announcement and release iirc).

I suspect we'll either get a 'Ten' reissue next year for the 25th anniversary, or a new greatest hits (entitled 'Twenty Five' maybe?). The dream would be for a new single to be promoted alongside that, but I'm not sure they would want to do that (and completely understand if they didn't) unless there's a REALLY good song hiding in the archives with Sarah on it!

And yeah, 'Miss You Bow Wow' (which I actually entered into BJSC back in the day) has the potential to be even greater with Sarah's vocals taking further prominence!

Wow, that's a quick turnaround, what's with the live tracks from earlier eras?

Looking forward to the new songs and alternate versions!

The only obvious omission from the era that I can see is 'Untouchable (Edit)' [the one that was a radio edit version of the album track effectively, not the remixed single version], aside from that I think this includes everything else from the era that was already on streaming!

They've included the 'Girls A Live' CD tracks, which was released alongside 'Out of Control'! (Tracks 11-18 on CD2). It's a bit fillery of them to include them, but I suppose it'll be nice to have them on streaming for the sake of completion!

It's quite interesting that they've included the Almighty remixes of Untouchable - they are previously unreleased!

I appreciate the sudden fast turnaround. For the last few years I'd been fearing having to wait until 2028 for this!

I think it's a very good indication that they're clearing the way for doing something in 2027...

Thanks Jay, completely didn't remember about the existence of that! I wonder why I only bought the standard edition CD at the time as usually I used to buy deluxe everything!

I’ll be glad to have this to compete the collection. This was always my favourite studio album they did too.

Hopefully 25 years is celebrated next year too and that’s what the focus is on and how this one is coming pretty soon! I’d love them to do something to mark their silver anniversary and I do feel it’s slightly possible. Like a previous poster said a new greatest hits labelled 25 with everything and some extras on it or 10 Deluxe with some live performances?!

But yes it seems like some 25th anniversary celebrations may be happening next year, exciting!

Intrigued by the alternative version of The Promise, I’m guessing it’s the same production but with different verses? The final version definitely sounds like it’s parts of different songs pieced together. Can’t imagine they’ll get rid of Sarah’s iconic verse though. Maybe Kimberley will have more vocals?

Can anyone share the full tracking list? I can’t see it on the iTunes link.
