September 27, 200816 yr Leona will get this but only because of her X-Factor performance - Lets not forget she is the 'darling' of the show and one of the biggest success stories - And I love Alesha but I think she'll be fighting for a Top 75 position rather than a Number 1! September 27, 200816 yr Having heard both Leona's and Britney's I'd hope it would be Britters! But I think the world, his wife and his dog know that it'll be Leona ... even if it is just a so-so song. Norma
September 27, 200816 yr I hope to god it's not Beyonce. One of the most overrated singers of the past couple of years? I think so. That said, if it is as good as 'Irreplaceable' or 'Crazy In Love' then I wouldn't mind it being #01. :P
September 27, 200816 yr Just for a bit of fun, let's get out my crystal ball: (Ne) 01 - Leona Lewis - Forgive Me (Physical & download 1st week + X Factor appearance = cert even though I don't think the song is that special) (Ne) 02 - Britney Spears - Womanizer (Only download is released this week, latest info has physical has been put back to Nov 24th) (01) 03 - Girls Aloud - The Promise (Provisional appearances on X-Factor & SCD in two consecutive weeks should ensure a huge hit single for this classic retro soul pop tinged single) (02) 04 - Dido - Don't Believe In Love (The release of her 3rd album this week should ensure this stays high in the chart) (04) 05 - The Killers - Human (This return to their 21st century Duran Duran sound of their debut album will still be selling well for this former chart topper) (??) 06 - Beyonce – If I Was A Boy (So far only a 15 second snippet of the intro has been released, with a similar sound to Britney's & Xtina's releases, so difficult to judge. Also no digital release date provided yet) (08) 07 - Christina Aguilera - Keeps Getting Better (Digital release down as Oct 19th, so physical release will help the song sustain its run in the bottom half of the Top 10) (03) 08 - Leon Jackson - Leon Jackson – Don't Call This Love (This former chart topper is now starting to fall away rapidly) (05) 09 - P!nk - So What (The song that spent two weeks at #2 behind The Killers shows it has staying power) (06) 10 - Sugababes - Girls (Their UK#3 hit (& first lead single from an album in 5 to fail to reach #1), along with Girls Aloud in the ascendancy has critics & fans speculating on the future of the trio who seem to have lost their way musically since Mutya left the band) interesting predictions there :o I can't see Dido going to No.2 with that bland comeback in a million years though...and you may well be spot on with Christina, I'd be surprised to see it go top 5 actually...it's just doesn't scream massive hit, it screams 'token greatest hits track' which is exactly what it is...
September 27, 200816 yr and again, I disagree with a lot of people in this thread when I say that I think Forgive Me is an excellent single, I'm very happy to see Leona move away from the big ballads finally, and the video is excellent too! Without any X Factor performance or support whatsoever I think this single could have eased into the top three, but with the support it's bound to be a No.1
September 27, 200816 yr I dont think that alesh and Christina are in with a chance. Im not liking the sound of britney's new song but a lot of others are so its possible but i dont think so. Beyonce's last two lead singles went straight to number one, but we havent heard the song yet. Leona looks the biggest cert, which would be great, love her. Edited September 27, 200816 yr by Gerid
September 27, 200816 yr I really don't know at the moment. I think thisispop's predictations may be pretty accurate though i can't see Dido being there. I haven't heard her track yet, but i haven't seen any buzz surrounding it and its getting released in 4 weeks, so I don't really know. I think Leona may clinch it because she has X Factor and physical and download all at the same time, Britney will be a huge threat though and i think the buzz surrounding them two will bring Christina's sales up as i reckon the media will do a Britney vs Leona vs Xtina chart battle. Hopefully, Girls Aloud will maintain a high position by this point - hopefully still in the top 5 anyway. Alesha can go either way, if it wasn't for SCD then it would be impossible for her to crack the top 20 but with that and the fact that she won it last year, might help condure up a lot of sales
September 27, 200816 yr YAY!! Let the battle begin!! It has now been confirmed that Britney will be performing on the X-Factor too!! :o So pleased!!! It has also been confirmed that Britney Spears will perform on the series. "She will be appearing on the show as a special guest, but we're not confirming the date yet," an ITV spokeswoman said. September 27, 200816 yr Alesha can go either way, if it wasn't for SCD then it would be impossible for her to crack the top 20 but with that and the fact that she won it last year, might help condure up a lot of sales But Alesha released a download only track last year after her SCD win and failed to trouble the Top 100 so I doubt this will be any different :(
September 27, 200816 yr But Alesha released a download only track last year after her SCD win and failed to trouble the Top 100 so I doubt this will be any different :( But was it promoted on a TV show that gets 8 million viewers?
September 27, 200816 yr Britney's physical has been delayed to the 24th November. I imagine her download release too
September 27, 200816 yr But was it promoted on a TV show that gets 8 million viewers? No but she was the winner of the show with 8 million viewers and got decent press and TV exposure about the single release on the back of her win. And tbh I am not sure if Alesha's music will fit into the general viewers of the show - 8 million viewers or not :P
September 27, 200816 yr Britney isn't even in the equation any more, I'm guessing they realised it was a stupid week to release on - a bit like last year when she went up against Leona, Take That and McFly in one of the biggest selling weeks of the year. I don't think this will be as big a battle as Leona/TT but it's still interesting. I think Leona will come out on top, then Christina followed by Beyoncé and Alesha being least successful.
September 27, 200816 yr i love both xtina briters and leona but this is my prediction: 01 LEONA LEWIS - FORGIVE ME 54,000 02 BRITNEY SPEARS - WOMANIZER 51,000 04 CHRISTINA AGUILERA - KEEPS GETTING BETTER 31,000 13 BEYONCE 52 ALESHA
September 27, 200816 yr I'd say Leona will win as it's a new track and she'll no doubt have a boost from appearing on the X-Factor.
September 27, 200816 yr No but she was the winner of the show with 8 million viewers and got decent press and TV exposure about the single release on the back of her win. And tbh I am not sure if Alesha's music will fit into the general viewers of the show - 8 million viewers or not :P But '4 U I Will' wasn't even a single. It was used for the 'Ford' advert and was put out with the thought 'well, we might aswell ...' and I was told that by Alesha and her management. If they were serious about it then it would have been put out in CD format and they would have pushed it with promo. She stands a good chance. 'Lipstick' went to number 14 and I didn't think it was an *amazing* track either. Polydor were so half-arsed about everything with her which is why she never did better. They messed up the release dates with both her singles. I had to text Alesha and tell her that 'Lipstick' was added to iTuines on a WEDNESDAY and she didn't even know. Her label screwed everything up, therefore she lost out on 3 days worth of digital sales. Since then she's won over a lot of fans, has worked with a LOT of great producers and writers on her album and after a meeting with her label I have full faith that they are behind her %100. They are putting a lot of money and time into her. Her video will be debuted on GM:TV which alone gets millions of viewers a morning, and her first performance is SCD which gets 11 millions viewers (who voted for her to win and I know a lot of them are now behind her with everything ...) No use knocking her yet. Let's just see what happens. As much as I want her to get number 1, I know she won't because of the competition but she could still achieve top 10. For anyone to say she'll be struggling for top 75 is ridiculous. You can shift 100 copies and get to 75. I could get a 75 charting if I fancied putting a single out ....
