I absolutely love X, I think 2 Hearts definitely killed the project.

I liked 2 hearts but unfortunately the majority of the rest of the album apart from a few good tracks wasnt very good.

X would have been a perfect album if 'Heart Beat Rock', 'All I See' and 'Cosmic' were replaced with either 'Magnetic Electric', 'Rippin' Up The Disco', 'Fall For You', 'Do It Again', 'Carried Away' and 'King Or Queen'.

And of course if '2 Hearts' remained just a nice album track.

That is NOT true :heehee: Even if all of the songs were career-bests there was just too much of a mish-mash of styles on X for it to ever properly work. No cohesion, no direction. You've got the dark electro of Like A Drug, the anthemic pure pop of Wow, the piano beat of 2 Hearts, the bittersweet balladry of No More Rain. It was never going to work.

At this rate Gabriella Cilmi's 'Lessons to be Learned' will be included in this! Such a shame as the album had HUGE potential! Apart from the massive lead single (Which looked likely to flop just as hard if it wasn't used in the advert, Lets be honest -_-) But they're not exactly releasing the right singles are they? :(

should have been:

1) Sweet About Me

2) Got No Place To Go

3) Don't Want To Go To Bed Now

4) Save The Lies

Sanctuary shoudn't even be in the equation

It worked for Stripped and Northern Star. Its all about choosing the right singles, its about timing, etc...

Well its not 'all about' that for me. The best albums always have a concept, a theme, a direction or cohesion. X had none of those.
Well I really liked the mix mash of styles, so I was pleased. I could've done without some of the tracks like Cosmic and Heartbeat Rock, but overall it was an excellent album, in my top3 of 2007.

I actually liked Cosmic  I do think it was criminal that Do It Again missed the album

I agree with this, as much as i think the other 3 are much better than SAM. Sanctuary should just be left as a nice album track for the fans to enjoy.

i'd swap 2 and 3.

DWGTBN would have been a great way to finish summer. its slightly to upbeat for xmas.

most of the singles on Northern Star got polished up with new radio edits though didn't they...I don't think the slow version of I Turn To You would have been a massive success here...

I know Wow had a UK radio edit made, but it was overproduced and worse than the album version...the remix of The One was good though but had next to no promotion and the video came out way too late to have any impact

Stripped is just a complete anomaly I think, a 20 track album has to have some differentiation or it would be tedious. I do find Stripped quite hard to listen to all in one go because it doesn't flow at all. I find it easier to listen to all of the ballads, and then all of the R&B tracks in two separate chunks, almost treating it as two separate albums

The new radio edit that was made for 'Wow' was unlistenable. I'm glad they used the version that appeared on the album for the video and stuff.

I agree, although the version used in the video was slightly sped up wasn't it? it seemed a bit faster

Even excluding I Turn To You, there was still a lot of variation from Going Down to Northern Star to Never Be The Same Again. Definitely a mix of styles. Stripped had pop, ballads, latin, rock, R&B, soul and rap. Basically everything except dance

Evanescence - The Open Door.

LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! OMFG Damn record companies can p*** me off so much sometimes!!!!!

But it sold millions and millions worldwide. The release of the later singles went all wrong. But they tried. I mean look at the video for Good Enough its amazing!

this is very true of Northern Star, I couldn't believe it when she followed up Goin' Down with Northern Star...I thought she was going to try and become a rock chick but she only did that for one single  which if I recall had a McFly style chart run, probably hence the change!

that girl group Frank should have released "Never Left A Girl" as their lead single. their label were terrible.

Lol i think it was appropriately titled Goin' Down  She did eventually try to become a rockier chick though

I think the album had better to be fair. They and their album were excellent, but they were never going to get anywhere sadly. :( They just didn't get the support they needed.
