October 7, 200817 yr Teletext Pink, Oasis for No 1 Pink is likely to have a second week at No 1, with So What comfortably ahead of nearest challenger Kings Of Leon. The Courteeners are the highest new entry at No 5, followed by Kaiser Chiefs at No 8 and Cage The Elephant and Snow Patrol also new in the Top 40. Oasis' album sold 89,434 copies on its first day, 72,000 ahead of Kings Of Leon at No 2. Bob Dylan and You Me At Six are also new in the Top 20.
October 7, 200817 yr Yeah I think Pink just has the edge. I slightly prefer it, and Boots seem to have messed up their promotion of the Sugas... Love the sugas, Pink has already reached no1 so lets give them a turn! Oasis holding up well in singles so far but can see them slipping. Great show on albums front so far though. They deserve it- there sound is always very samey but unique to them and they haven't dropped the quality imho, last couple have been better than some of their middle period Oh dear will Kings of leon ever drop out top3? I'm so sick of it and I never liked it in first place...I really don't understand that hype all of a sudden! Me either, i don't know why everyone woke up one morning and decided to like them. I hadn't even heard anyone mention their new stuff before it charted and the sales have been unprecedented. I don't see what the fuss is about, SoF isn't very good... I heard that the universal group will only be doing cd1's in shops from jan 2009. GA are the same, they are only doing ond cd for the promise which is their first 1 cd release (aside from wtw) its a total p*** take. What a way to ensure the physical dies <_< Oh well a lot of acts have been releasing just one CD format as single since last year, some of them even a cheap, $h!tty, pointless 2-track CD. At least Sugababes has a maxi cd out. It's quite clear that CDs are slowly going to disappear. That is a shame. I liked the different things you got on each and i think bigger fans (who likely would buy both) opt for the physical more than the casual buyer now so they are doing themselves out of sales. Thats c**p for GA as well, the 2CD physical def helped them maintain their run so hope they manage without it (sure the promise will). Seems the industry would rather we just download probably in an effort to cut all overheads and rake in pure profit but CDs already cost a bit more and are mass produced so you'd think it'd still be worthwhile. Between making them so hard to obtain and even the shops who stock them have such small sections hidden in the depths which are so poorly signposted you don't even know they are there unless you are determined and look hard. Sure putting singles next to the till queue would sell a fair bit more physicals as impulse purchases

October 8, 200817 yr Absolutely gutted that 'The Courteeners' have dropped from the Top 5 - They obviously got an early boost on yesterdays update due to the 3 for £5 pre-order of the single they was doing via their website (In which all pre-ordered copies got signed by the band). Hope they can hold onto a Top 40 position as they are an amazing band :wub: :wub:

October 8, 200817 yr Gutted The Courteeners have dropped so far, I hope that there is soem kind of mistake, maybe sales could be missing, but yeah bar P!nk and Sugababes the top 10 looks very boring and uninteresting
