It is all hype. 'The X factor' itself is now as much about 'Sob Stories'

as it is about Music. It ends up being extremely manipulative of the TV Audience.

I hate the War in Iraq, & was never a supporter of it. The War in Afghanistan

is totally different - the reasons. I despise The Taliban.

I support our Troops, be they in Iraq or Afghanistan - it is possible to care

about the Troops even if you hate War.

However, the 'X Factor' Single is designed to give Simon Cowell an easy No.1

- he likes to claim them as his own - and to also get him loads of praise in

the Media - he loves being the centre of attention. (If he really cared about the

Troops, he'd have anonymously given about £1 Million to Charities that look

after wounded Soldiers - but, that was out of the question. Simon wouldn't

get a Hit Single & loads of praise if he did it that way. Why so many fall for

that Man's obvious manipulating I'll never know!).

'The Sun' has been calling UK Troops 'Our Boys' ever since the Falklands War

in 1982. In 1982 it even had it printed next to its Title on the Cover - 'The Paper

That Supports Our Boys'. (Puke! - Far, far too over the top with its patriotism).

Now it helps to hype up the 'Hero' Charity Single. The other day it made it

front page 'News' that a Moslem Cleric had condemned the Single, & any Muslims

who might dare to buy it. The Man is in Lebanon, & I doubt if his rants mean

very much to most UK Muslims. But, 'The Sun', made out that everyone connected

with the Single could be in grave danger, (or being killed), & how 'extra security'

had been given to the people behind 'The X factor', & so on.

More manipulation. It was a hyped up scare story - designed to make 'Sun'

readers say:, 'Well he won't stop me supporting our Troops! I'm buying that

Single come what may!'.

Like Cowell, 'The Sun' will resort to any hype to try to make 'Projects' that it

supports become hugely successful.

One day I hope that Britain wakes up, & snubs Cowell, 'The Sun', & any other

Paper or 'Celebrity' that tries to manipulate the emotions of the British Public, in

ways that are so transparent, that the sad thing is that so many people are

taken in by it all! How sad!!!

Spot on analysis, i've got to say. I hate The Sun. :puke2: They deserve to be shut down as a paper. I've got to admit, I didn't know that the story about the Muslim guy condeming the single came from The Sun, but it doesn't suprise me. I hate they way they sell themselves as "the people's" paper. Absolute bollocks. All they every do is print vicious lies. If you're going to buy a paper (well a tabolid one) then you may as well pay the little bit extra for the Mail or the Mirror. Even though they're not brilliant papers, at least they dont spread as much $h!t as The Sun.

Still, I hope this single does well for a week or two, and I also hope they don't pulg it EVERY week on X Factor. :manson:

I actually really, really liked their version of the song. That song gives me shivers when I hear it anyway! But it was much better than I had anticipated!
Does anyone know what it's called coz I can't find it on iTunes
Heaven forbid we should support our soldiers who are risking LIFE AND LIMB out there

I dont agree with the war, but how can you be so cold towards out men risking their lives? :|

So you would rather buy an awful record where less money (just 29p per download) goes towards our brave Serviceman & their families than the long running British Legion Poppy Appeal.

You do realise that buying this record for the Help For Heroes only supports families of those serviceman who have fought in recent wars in Afghanistan & Iraq which I regard as immoral & illegal. Therefore I don't think it is unreasonable that I don't support it.

Whereas the long running British Legion Poppy Appeal supports Serviceman & their families for all conflicts (from World War I onwards) involving British troops where we have been involved in Wars where the cause is a lot more worthwhile than the illegal occupation in Iraq.

On November 11th I will be wearing my poppy and respect the 2 minutes silence. Will you?

Besides 2 minutes silence will be musically preferable to listening to this truly atrocious record.

Forgive me if you thought i was anti-the poppy appeal, of course that's a worthwhile cause and of course i will be respecting the 2 minutes silence and wearing my poppy as i do EVERY year.... but the fact of the matter is, to me, even though the song may not be all that great, it's still a very worthwhile cause and 29p just goes towards the "every little helps" aspect.

Leona Lewis - BIT/FITS

BITFITS? Which bit fits where?

Anyway, this isn't going to be a million seller. Number one is just about possible, if it's in supermarkets and everything, but it won't be for more than one week. I can see Girls Aloud going back up (if they make it to number one this week that is!) It was funny how the over-25s' door jammed and Laura had to mine Ruth's bits though (I love them both, so perfect combination!) Daniel didn't seem to get a line though, unless someone else mimed it, and only two of JLS did...

Why was there no voting option for 8 weeks or more at number one ;)

I like the idea of charity singes and for that reason I've voted for a million seller with 7 weeks at number one, to be charitable you understand :D

It's going towards the Poppy Appeal, isn't it? That's one of my fave charities

I don't like this version of the song tho tbh and I didn't like the original much either

It goes without saying, there are other ways to donate to good causes, but I think by record purchase is one good way because of the ease of accessability to donate (tho what with the physical single seamingly becoming harder to come by these days  ) and I'm sure there are plenty of charity records that don't get this kind of exposure and some that don't become hits.

I think it would do better if it was actually added to iTunes. But it seems to have f***ed up Play Digital so it will do very well without iTunes
The single is #2 in Amazon music bestellers :o This is HUGE considering singles quite never make it into the overall top50, because albums are selling a lot more than singles.

It seems a bit odd it hasn't been added to itunes yet? When Leon won last year wasn't there a problem with itunes and he wasnt added to mid morning and Simon wasnt happy about it? Or am i imagining that?

Anyways ill say easy #1 after that performance. Surely its going to be released to itunes though? Would seem odd if its on ALL other sites not itunes?

It will be quick and sell around 400k - 2 weeks at no.1

I completely agree! I will have my poppy for 11th November like I always do to support people who went to the necessary wars as well as the people who were forced to go to the illegal war.

Anyways ill say easy #1 after that performance. Surely its going to be released to itunes though? Would seem odd if its on ALL other sites not itunes?

What 'performance'? It was completely mimed from beginning to end, and two of the twelve didn't even make it on stage due to a malfunction with a door, so their vocals had to be substituted among the other contestants. :D Watch it back and you'll see. Anyway, I think the song will do amazingly well in it's opening week (100k +) but it will drop pretty quickly after that, with Britney, Leona, Take That et all nipping at its heels..

Isn't auto tune just amazing? :D

I'll Buy both! Which is 29p extra than you'll be putting into it :P :heehee: (Sorry if that sounded Bitchy, I didn't mean it in that way )

This single is for both Help For Heroes and the Poppy Appeal... so why the fighting?

Are you sure? I doubt it.

To be clear proceeds from the record go to both Help For Heroes and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2009.

I won’t be purchasing this record because it’s another uninspired cover, which does nothing for me. If I want to donate 79p or £3.99 I want the full sum to go to the charity so I’ll make a donation directly to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2009. However charity records are a good proven way of raising donations which people who not otherwise make.

While the motives of The Sun and Simon Cowell are inevitably driven by publicity to their brands, the cause itself is worthy…

Well I do think there is a crucial difference between: the military action in Afghanistan which had FULL international support to remove the Taleban who actively supported and harboured al Qaeda and massive Heroin production; compared to the Iraq war which was immoral, illegal, pointless and has totally destabilised that country now for generations.

DO British servicemen and women get to choose where they serve? Do they have any influence on the government who decided to take us to war? Clearly not. Are Tony Blair and Gordon Brown risking limbs and lives? No. It’s the soldiers who they sent to war which are being killed or horrifically injured.

So NO I do NOT subscribe to the fallacy that supporting a charity that raises money for injured soldiers from these conflicts is ‘supporting’ the Iraq war. It is supporting soldiers who are being injured in the highest numbers since WWII, who are under equipped, poorly paid and are not decision makers but servants for this country.

Why don't people just donate the 79p they would have spent on this $h!t to the actual causes themselves? That way the causes get MORE money and we don't have such unbridled $h!t clogging up the chart.

Surely that's a worthwhile cause?

It's silly getting into an argument, this is just a gimmick for Simon Cowell to make more money. I wonder if Simon knows what he is supporting...
