Britney is by no means one of my favourite acts, in fact the only songs I've really liked of hers in the past are Sometimes, Everytime and Piece Of Me

I do however think that Womanizer is her best single in years and has the same No.1 vibe to it that I got fro So What and The Promise

See I don't get the Womanizer love. With Gimme More, I could understand because it was really catchy and brilliant. But the only thing that makes Womanizer any good is the chorus. That's all I like. The verses are just disgustingly bad and out of tune. She won\t get a no1. No way  most People I've spoken to don't seem to care too much for it, ity's only on here it gets worshipped to the high heavens.

As for this Heroes thing. I hope to God it flops but it obviously won't. No1 looms but I think it depends on the strength of the cover version and the performance on Saturday that will determine how consistant it is.

I'll stick my neck out and say it'll sell about 300-400k with about 4 weeks at the top. The Killers or Take That will knock it off.

I agree.

As a rule I prefer Take That's output to Britney's but I think Womanizer is stronger than Take That's latest effort. However, I get a funny feeling that Britney might get stuck behind the Indie/Rock track of the year by The Killers. But as she is supposed to be over in the UK to perform on X-Factor & the EMAs then I think her publicity will be huge.

As for Simon Cowell's latest music of mass destruction, I don't even need to hear it to imagine how awful this will be.

Time to post Pulp's farewell single that was a clear satire of the whole Reality Pop TV concept:

Pulp - Bad Cover Version

Bad Cover Version lyrics

The word's on the street: you've found someone new.

If he looks nothing like me I'm so happy for you.

I heard an old girlfriend has turned to the church -

she's trying to replace me, but it'll never work.

'Cos every touch reminds you of just how sweet it could have been

And every time he kisses you it leaves behind the bitter taste of saccharine.

A bad cover version of love is not the real thing.

Bikini-clad girl on the front who invited you in.

Such great disappointment when you got him home -

the original was so good; the one you no longer own.

And every touch reminds you of just how sweet it could have been

And every time he kisses you, you get the taste of saccharine.

It's not easy to forget me, it's so hard to disconnect

When it's electronically reprocessed to give a more life-like effect.

Aah, sing your song about all the sad imitations that got it so wrong

It's like a later "Tom & Jerry" when the two of them could talk

Like the Stones since the Eighties, like the last days of South Park.

Like "Planet of the Apes" on TV, the second side of "'Til the Band Comes in"

Like an own-brand box of cornflakes: he's going to let you down my friend.

I have a feeling that Womanizer may suprise people with how well it'll do personally! I have a feeling about it for some reason! As for this, if the public are FOOLED into eating the giant spoon that comes through the TV during X Factor AGAIN by buying this then I'll be banging my head against the wall thinking what idiots the british public are! You buy singles based on if you like the SONG don't just buy because some idiot who can't dress himself who's made a career out of having his average singers cover the same songs over and over who the media claim is a 'music expert' tells you to on some stupid TV show which is solely responsible for killing the christmas #1!
Its OK but its not amazing. Girls Aloud's The Promise and for that matter the Sugababes new singles are equally as good as if not better than Britney's latest offering.

I do think all of us on BJ (yes - even including me from time to time  ) are 'over-generous' when describing the music of our favourit acts.

Back to this charity song though ... I can't stand them!!!! I think I'll pay a fiver for my poppy this year instead of buying this Simon Cowell advert.

But Britney is definately not my favorite act - Far from it actually.... I just LOVE this new song from her and think people are underestimating how well its gonna do. I'll even stick my neck on the line and say it will become one of the biggest first week sales of 2008 and go on to sell several hundred thousand.

I infact adore Girls Aloud and have been saying for quite sometime how much i love the promise and how well its gonna do!

I can see this being HUGE given the cause, opening with first week sales of over 200k and a slow decline from there. Could it spend 7 weeks at No1 until the winner of the x factor gets his or her customary xmas No1? Well there are potentially huge singles from Leona and Take That and strong comebacks from Britney and The Killers. However I suspect this could flirt with the million mark in terms of sales.

I see a maximum of 1 week at the top (if that) before Leona deposes it, and I don't see it hanging around long either.

Gah ! I keep hoping that the British public will wake up one day ...sob tories and charity ..pfff ...the X Factor is more and more like a famewh*re. Not enough with having Christmas no 1 and winners (well, most) getting singles at no .1 ? Nah, they had to tap this charity thing , too...

Sadly, I think it will sell loads due to the 'patriotic' approach .

I'll buy more poppies this week. B)

that clip does sound good though I mean they have some excellent singers this year!

I don't think it will sell a million - hopefully much less than that. Simon Cowell has no shame. If you feel strongly enough about the charity put a few extra pounds in the poppy collection. Who would want an overwrought version of this song sang by a bunch of x factor finalists (some of them not very good singers anyway)?

I'm an x factor fan and have bought some of the music that various contestants have released over the last few years but I wouldn't touch this with a bargepole.

How many people are going to watch the x factor tonight? 11 million or so last week so probably the same this week. So if there is a launch with powerful patriotic VT clips bigging up the charity. Then it's not inconceivable that lets say ~10% of the viewers will download or buy the track to help the charity, which would be 1,100,000 sales...

While the pop idol 2 single was a relative flop, it wasn't for charity, the series was widely regarded as a flop, had a limited shelf life being a Christmas record. Still it managed to sell over 70k at No5, which would have been enough to be No1 most weeks in 2003!

Put it another way Michelle only sold 40k more in her first week than it yet spent 3 weeks at No1.

If any of you buy this single, then shame on you IMHO.

As for the cause, I'm damned if I'm giving one penny towards it as it will be showing tacit support to the War in Iraq & Afghanistan, via a charity supported by Simon Cowell & championed by Rupert Murdoch's The Sun Newspaper = My idea of hell.

I'll do what I always do and donate to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal instead = a far more noble and worthwhile cause.

I think I shall put a bit extra in the poppy fund this year! I'm certainly not supporting this $h!te!

As much as I don't agree with the Iraq/Afganistan war, I do support our troops out there. I won't be buying the single though, and will give my cash as usual to the Poppy appeal.

Whilst yes I do feel sorry for them that that's where they've been sent the war is still illegal. A charity to provide better facilities for our servicemen? Bollocks! What about a charity that supports the relatives of the thousands of innocent people who've been killed in the war?! Now that I might consider supporting!

Heaven forbid we should support our soldiers who are risking LIFE AND LIMB out there

I dont agree with the war, but how can you be so cold towards out men risking their lives? :|

I agree. I don't agree with the war either, but these soldiers are out in the war, and all they're doing is their duty for Queen and country which is what they're meant to do. The wars are pointless, so many innocent lives are lost, but they're out soldiers and they deserved to be praised, even if the war they're fighting is absolute bollocks.

However, this fundraiser is backed by The Sun. And I hate The Sun.
