According to the blurb with the CD single which I bought today, her album is out *next Monday* 3rd Nov, not the 17th as the new release schedule suggests!

It's pretty much a no-brainer that it'll be #1 by a *HUGE* margin (p***ing off Razorlight fans, no doubt), but how many do you think it'll sell 1st week?

I'll say 300k

I doubt it'll be #1 tbh. Will probably go Top 5 with around 60/70k.
The hype around this seems so minimal, I've actually heard nothing about it outside of the internet. :( It will definitely be #1 but I'm not sure the sales will be massive or anything.

It wont be Number 1, will it? Dido isnt really that popular, I must say I would be extremely surprised if she could beat Razorlight, because the popularity is definetly in Razorlights favour, I must say.

I have nothing against Dido though, White Flag is a fantastic song. But, I dont think Number 1. Number 6 perhaps.

I really couldn't put a sales tag on it, firstly the music direction on it has changed, there seems to be mixed feelings about her new album and secondly I don't think its on par with her previous albums, if I had to put a figure to it, I say around 130k as a safe bet, but I don't think it will fly over 150k for some reason. Her previous albums are well written, and I'm in 2 minds with purchasing her new one to be honest.
She will probably be no1 but her total sales will be massively down on her first 2 albums.

Maybe not even #1! If everyone thinks its out on the 17th then it might not sell much on the first week apart from die hard fans that find out. I'm thinking 1/5 of what Life For Rent sold in 2003, considering there is practically zero hype, DBIL isn't in the itunes top 120, there's though competition and album sales are down. Might even be outside the top 5 if everything REALLY is a shambles. It sounds crazy but i'm not sure a whole lot of people my age would have heard of Dido, even.

No.1 by a mile with 278k sales. Started a similar thread on Haven and guesses range from very low to 300k so far.

All the online sites, Play, Amazon etc still say 17th so bet the blurb with the single is out of date as it was originally slated for next week, 3rd.

Safe Trip Home Pre-Release Charts:

#2 Amazon behind The Killers

#3 Play.com

#5 HMV.com

I think Dido can slightly outshine Oasis and do 250K, which would be remarkable for her and in this day & age.

As Martin said I'm in two minds too about getting it. Don't like anything I've heard so far from it, not even Grafton Street, which is said to be the best track.

Its a very difficult album to predict-I hope it does well, but, like Anastacia, the project has been handled so badly. I can see no.1 but I'm not sure about massive sales.

Isn´t really THAT popular??? Does the fact the she sold more albums in UK this decade then ANY other female, despite having only 2 releases count???

I seriously doubt the album is coming next week. If it is, then it WILL flop.

The problem is not with Dido´s popularity. The problems are:

1) she doesn´t have a video for the lead single

2) she did no promotion so far

3) the release is being announced for Nov 17th, and if it comes next week it will be a surprise and most people won´t even be aware

I still believe this is a mistake. In normal circumstances, Dido would go # 1 with ease. Razorlight are nothing compared to her.

But releasing an album by surprise, with no promo, and in the wrong date, really kills her chances of having a nice debut week.

The single was released today and looks like will flop. It´s not announced anywhere, the release schedules still say it´s coming next week (Nov 3rd), it contains no bonus or remixes, the cover is just a blue screen with the song´s name on it, and like I said, it had no promotion and not even a music video.

I think the record label is just testing her to see how much results she can achieve with no effort at all. They really made a mess with her comeback.

that will only happen if she wakes up and starts promotion. If the album comes out next week, it will be lucky to enter Top 5.

Her own website also says the 17th, rather than the 3rd, so I guess it's more likely that the CD single info is wrong.
