Posted November 15, 200816 yr Besides all the songs that did it last year (Mariah, Pogues, Band Aid, Wham!, Slade, Wizzard...) I think: The Killers - Don't shoot me Santa Darkness - Christmas time And other that should be revived: Britney Spears - My only wish this year Waiteresses - Xmas wrapping Sugababes - New year Tweenies - I believe in Christmas (yes, really)
November 15, 200816 yr Xmas Wrapping is so long overdue to be a top 40 hit...chances of it selling however much you need to get in the top 40 at the moment (4-5k?) are incredibly slim though...
November 15, 200816 yr Not if someone performed it on X Factor ;) Great song I agree. I also think Cheeky Girls - Have A Cheeky Christmas should have another shot :)
November 15, 200816 yr Can somebody bury the Wham song? It is adorable, but I heard it every year so many times that i wish 10 years nobody would play in radio this song! :teresa:
November 15, 200816 yr Fairytale of New York will be the highest recharting xmas song once again just as it deserves !
November 15, 200816 yr "all i want for christmas is u" should go no.1.....the only christmas song i like
November 15, 200816 yr I don't think anything different from last year will chart, the ones that reappear are 'Christmas standards' here. I'd like "8 Days Of Christmas" by Destiny's Child to be 'revived', it's one of the only Christmas songs I like.
November 15, 200816 yr "all i want for christmas is u" should go no.1.....the only christmas song i like My fav Xmas song, by far, is Slade. :)
November 15, 200816 yr I think it's great to have all these Xmas tunes that'll no doubt rise into the top 40 again this year, just a bit of a shame that the X Factor is probably rubber stamped for the Xmas no.1, oh well.
November 15, 200816 yr Whats always annoyed me about Wham's 'Last Christmas' is that you can replace the word Christmas with the word year or week and it'd just be another love song. Much prefer Mariah, Slade and Wizard whose songs more than just mention the c-word to qualify them as Christmas songs.
November 15, 200816 yr Maybe Cascada- Last Christmas will get some decent attention . I quite liked it last year, though my taste has moved on since then :P
November 15, 200816 yr Hopefully Chris Rea, The Waitresses and Elton John out of the ones that didn't really make an impact last year. Also the Manic Street Preachers version of Last Christmas that was recorded on TFI Friday should chart. It's on iTunes. Oh and Miss Piggy's version of Santa Baby it is really amazing  Edited November 15, 200816 yr by dizzeeforPM
November 15, 200816 yr Currently, Mariah Carey is the only Christmas song in the singles 200 at number 104. (WE 15 Nov 2008)
November 15, 200816 yr Currently, Mariah Carey is the only Christmas song in the singles 200 at number 104. (WE 15 Nov 2008) That must be down to the DFS advert
November 15, 200816 yr I want Jona Lewie's Stop The Cavalry to chart! It deserves it. And with the current success of 'Hero' for the troops - hoping the words to 'Stop The Cavalry' ring a bell! Norma
November 16, 200816 yr That must be down to the DFS advert  Maybe they will re-issue it on physical this year to give an extra push to the ballads... who knows! It's my fave xmas track ever... I love the beginning...
November 16, 200816 yr Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmass Tree Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
