Leona has broken the record for fastest ever climb to #1 on iTunes - by beating the record previously held by herself!

Bleeding Love was the previous record holder, hitting #1 in the 10pm update on the corresponding Sunday following its release.

Run has beaten it by 5 hours. Her popularity bar when it reaches its peak is going to be at least 3 times bigger than the rest of the pack.

I reckon she'll also take the "biggest download-only" sale as well.

Is it me or are the Christmas songs underperforming compared to last year? I know it's still early but I'm sure they were higher in 2007

December 1st 2007:

11 [14] Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You

19 [27] The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York

33 [39] Wham! - Last Christmas

37 [47] Andy Williams - It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

40 [57] Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?

51 [71] Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

61 [75] The Killers - Don't Shoot Me Santa

73 [88] Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone

76 [87] Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas

82 [104] John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

89 [102] Perry Como - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

102 [113] Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmas Time

108 [***] Elton John - Step Into Christmas

110 [***] Big Crosby - White Christmas

112 [***] Aled Jones - Walking In The Air

113 [***] Boney M - Mary's Boy Child / Oh My Lord

118 [***] Mud - Lonely This Christmas

120 [***] Cliff Richard - Mistletoe & Wine

Yes they are :o

I think its a good thing though that charts at the moment aren't cluttered with X-mas songs, probably won't happen till next week. Though tomorrow is the start of advent...
Bloody hell Tyler! Are you sure you don't want a glass of water? Or a little lie down perhaps?

LOL. The song is good, and the video isn't hard to look at either. :kink:

Really glad Leona is number 1, love that song, been waiting to buy it for ages. As long as Britney's top 3 then I'm happy. :)
Oh so the Xmas songs arent doing as well this year then, though i suspect this will improve as we enter December.
great for Leona, hope it's the xmas No.2 so I can get lots and lots of money :P

 knowing you it will either...

Stay at number 1 or it will get beat by X Factor winner AND Sir Terry Wogan & Aled Jones :teresa:

I put a £10 bet on the song three weeks ago that it would be xmas No.2 at odds of 16/1,

the odds are now at 6/1 and she is second favourite behind Terry Wogan/Aled Jones...

Well right now that certainly looks smarter than me betting £10 on Eoghan to win X-Factor at odds of 7-1 back at the beginning of the Final 12 acts.

 I might consider placing a bet now, a possible £70 doesn't sound too bad.

Some people must still have some xmas songs left over from last year
I haven't bought on christmas song yet apart from AIWFCIY. I'll buy some though when they start charting.

sounds funny but its the truth

the digital boom in the UK happened in 2006. These christmas songs saw their peak in recent years last christmas.

I don't think christmas songs will reach the top 5 heights they did last year.

I'm Like a Ringleader I call the Shots!

:D

Britney ahead of Take That on both albums and singles now.

Does anyone have pop bars for the albums chart?? If they do exist anyway...

'A Moment Like This' shifted over 50,000 copies within half an hour of being added hence debuted at #1.

Hence the reason why he said, Fastest CLIMB to the number 1 :P

I've seen that stat quoted loads of times and don't believe it for one second.

It sold 88k in the Tuesday midweek, so if that 50k stat were true, it would have shifted 50,000 in the first 30 minutes and then 38,000 from 00:31 on Sunday morning to 00:00 Monday midnight/Tuesday morning, which just isn't right at all.

Well right now that certainly looks smarter than me betting £10 on Eoghan to win X-Factor at odds of 7-1 back at the beginning of the Final 12 acts.

I also have money on Eoghan to win...only a fiver at 4/1 though...
