November 30, 200816 yr thanks Harve, Masterton's been doing his since the early 90's anyway, I've been doing it for about a year, so I'm about 20 years behind in experience  But already bettered (is that a word?) him :D Edited November 30, 200816 yr by Harve
November 30, 200816 yr Well, I do hope you still do the commentary, Rich as I always read it and enjoy the facts and figures :D
November 30, 200816 yr Slight problem with Same Difference album won't be stocked in Woolworths, Morrissons, Sainsbury's or ASDA due to Woolworths going into administration (Something to do with Woolworths Inc. owning the company that buys CDs for those supermarkets). as quoted by shyboy on haven Oops, does this just apply to Same Difference/Syco CD’s or all of them. I guess we'll see chaos in Supermarkets for a few weeks if it’s the latter. I find it bizarre that the supermarkets are incapable of procuring their own CD orders themselves, perhaps by clubbing together they drove the prices down?!
November 30, 200816 yr Great commentary. Ignore the fools that hate! The vast majority of people who read it enjoy and appreciate your efforts!
November 30, 200816 yr Author gooddelta do you actually type all that up? :o You must have a lot of free time on your hands! :P yes I do, and I work full time and am finding less and less time each week to do this because I've started a trainee manager course where I work and it's quite intense! I wouldn't be at all surprised if I have to hand over the reigns to somebody else in the not too distant future even though I really like writing it
November 30, 200816 yr Author I actually believe that the fact Radio:ACTIVE was given away in the paper very much affected McFly's sales for their singles. OFTR came out on the week of the Sunday the paper had the album and Do Ya was on that and the Deluxe edition. Lies did the best, even though it charted lower than OFTR at 4, with it not being on the free album but the Deluxe edition album was due out soon afterwards. The main reason has to have been their single choices though, with OFTR and Do Ya. There are only about 2 weak songs left on the album now, but the way they're going they'll release them too. But seriously, they'll probably have a strong single next. Lies has been the strongest release but still isn't the best on the album, there are about 3 better at least. Interesting Commentary anyhow. to some extent you are probably right, but Stay With Me is a new song and I would have thought fans would have wanted the I Kissed A Girl b-side as well...I'm just surprised that two new songs couldn't entice their fanbase to buy this single, it must have only sold around 10k...

November 30, 200816 yr I've just had a very rude comment about it on chc where I recently began to post it, one of the posters there has said that it 'isn't very interesting' and not a commentary because I am 'not commenting on the chart like Masterton does'... comments like that really make me wonder why I waste three hours a week writing this thing...if you don't like it that's fine but please try and write one yourself and see how easy it is  Must have been a chav I really enjoy reading your commentaries they are really good, I love reading them they are better than JM's
November 30, 200816 yr Author Must have been a chav I really enjoy reading your commentaries they are really good, I love reading them they are better than JM's  just someone with nothing better to do than criticise my hard work  thanks Martin, glad you enjoy it :D
November 30, 200816 yr again, and as always, a great read :D The article is being read by more and more people in both the forum and front page and im glad it is getting good exposure considering the amount of effort that goes into it each week!!
November 30, 200816 yr to some extent you are probably right, but Stay With Me is a new song and I would have thought fans would have wanted the I Kissed A Girl b-side as well...I'm just surprised that two new songs couldn't entice their fanbase to buy this single, it must have only sold around 10k... McFly fans don't like the covers as much as their original songs. Also, Stay With Me was performed once, on CIN, and played on the radio once. That was it. Hardly good promotion. As well as that, I Kissed A Girl is on the Live Lounge CD. As well as all this, everyone keeps saying how murder it was trying to buy the single. I luckily bought it online which took the trouble away, but apparently even though the DVD Single was a HMV exclusive it was hardly stocked anywhere. Many had to ask at the counters to be told. Yet everyone who has complained said even though they couldn't find it, they easily found that X Factor Hero cover. I've never heard of so much trouble trying to find their CD singles before. I've been buying them online since OFTR earlier this year when a few shops stopped stocking CD Singles and I got a bit worried, but this just proves how much indeed they need to start releasing songs that reach out to new fans and the downloading nation. Hopefully Do Ya has been a wake up call for them to release the better songs. Someone on their official forum very well explained McFly as a 'one step forward, two steps backwards' band at the moment, so they really need to get their act together.

I actually think that Do Ya is a good song and Stay With Me is a decent cover of The Faces hit. The Children In Need tag should have been a good promotion for it. They certainly attract 1000s of fans everytime they do CD signings. Maybe it is just a case of bad timing with this one or lack of places to buy the physical singles.
November 30, 200816 yr Rich, this is a fantastic read as usual .You are very committed to be able to do this week after week & still make it interesting.Ignore the negative comments elsewhere , we at Buzzjack love your commentaries as confirmed by the other posts.

McFly fans love B Sides and other CD extras, therefore that's where their buys come from mainly. Plus the fact that a lot of fans are young, but I must add that they're not all 10 year olds!
December 4, 200816 yr Yes, Gooddelta - you write very well about the Charts each Week. It is not only full of Trivia/Data, but it is also interesting to read. It is not easy to be able to do both things. Regarding 'Miles Away' - you can say that it is Madonna's smallest ever Chart Hit in the UK. It may even miss the Top 30 - let alone the Top 20! But, she will be back. She is like Elvis Presley - he had periods when he had small Hits, & he then had huge Hits again - over & over again. Until now, her smallest Chart Hits were 'Take A Bow', (1994), & 'Oh Father', (1996) - both No.16 Hits. If we count 'Holiday' 3 times, (1984, 1985, & 1991), & 'Crazy For You' twice, (1985 & 1991), she's had 68 UK Hit Singles. I actually believe that the fact Radio:ACTIVE was given away in the paper very much affected McFly's sales for their singles. OFTR came out on the week of the Sunday the paper had the album and Do Ya was on that and the Deluxe edition. But seriously, they'll probably have a strong single next. Lies has been the strongest release but still isn't the best on the album, there are about 3 better at least. Well its becoming that because of all the hype on the first single and albums - third and forth releases by established acts (but not including add ons to deluxe reissues) are becoming more and more pointless - as by then the album is retailing for about £5 and the radio stations are still playing the first hit over and over again...
