December 7, 200816 yr stay out of the thread and dont watch it then ;) maybe you should stick to your strictly facist 1960s television mate *feels another lecture about debate vs arselicking is needed <_< * 60's tv was far superior to this drivel.... well maybe apart from the black n white minstral show!
December 7, 200816 yr How could you say Leona winning the X-Factor was a fix? Who else from that series was good enough to compete against her and win it? Ray Quinn? I'd say the not insignificant fact (as revealed by Sinitta at the 2008 MOBOs to Simon Cowell's embarrassment but his PR Max Clifford did a rather good job of not letting it become a bigger story) that Leona did not actually enter for that year's competition before the closing date for entries. But was invited to enter by Sinitta herself who knew her from the BRIT school hinted that she would be looked upon favourably due to her obvious vocal talent. I don't know about you, but that fits my definition of a fix. As I said last night in terms of talent it is a no brainer that Alexandra deserves to win from the remaining acts. As her background as part of the London Community Gospel Choir along with her mum (a long time friend of Sinitta since they appeared together in the 1980s musical Mutiny) have proved to have been a very good background for her due to her not putting in a dud performance this series unlike virtually every other act this year. Especially as she has performed in the past 2.5 years at numerous concerts supporting many major acts at top Stadiums gigs, including 2008's Glastonbury where the LCGC on the Sunday performing such rousing songs as 'Oh Happy Day', 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot', 'This Little Light of Mine', 'One Love', 'Faith' ..... and Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'! The problem is that will the public be able to stomach another "ringer" winning the X-Factor for the second time in 3 years when the competition is supposed to be a public competition where anyone can supposedly win? I think the media coverage in the next 7 days will be very interesting, certainly I can see some of the media lead a backlash against the show & campaign for Simon to be saddled with another joke winner (Eoghan).
December 7, 200816 yr My idea of the final 3 would of been Ruth, Diana and Alexandra, Alex better win but annoyinly it's more likely going to be JLS or the other c**p one unfortunately. Very pointless!

And on the whole - he's quite right. :(
December 7, 200816 yr Gutted Diana's out i bet John's really sad but at least there's Alex still :D I totally agree Just how Eggnog is still there shows people don't vote on talent. It's all the little girls that think he's cute that vote for him. If Alex doesn't win it now there's no justice. Eggnog & JLS are rubbish. Also if she doesn't win, i'll probably not watch it next year as there would only have been one really talented singer (Leona) to win out of 5 series. I strongly urge all Diana's supporters now get behind Alex and vote for her in the final. I also hope Diana get's a record deal. I would certainly buy her CD.
December 7, 200816 yr I dont think Diana should be worried, she'll easily get a record deal. Really this is only a blessing for her since she now wont be controlled by Simon & co.
December 7, 200816 yr I dont think Diana should be worried, she'll easily get a record deal. Really this is only a blessing for her since she now wont be controlled by Simon & co. Cowell has first option on all 12 X Factor finalists so if he wants Diana he will get Diana same as he has taken up the option on Ruth
December 7, 200816 yr Author In the end all the losers will get a record contract, bar a few, whatever happens next Saturday all three acts will get a record contract out of it, but only 1 act get to release a xmas single. In the end no one is losing out on anything, Diana could easily get a record deal, but she will have to wait until this time next year to release anything, as she is still contracted to Simon. I just hope Alexandra can win it now, she has improved immensely and have taken a shine to her now, at the beginning I wasn't too keen on her.
December 7, 200816 yr The comforting thought is that the winners' title really isn't a golden ticket at all anymore - out of the winners of these reality series, it's only Will Young and Leona Lewis who are still popular and remembered. The only kudos in winning something as banal as XFactor is the on-the-night fanfare. After that, it's an albatross around any real performer's neck.

Almost every single singer that gets to final stages will have had some form of formal training be it having sung in bands (Ben for example being lead singer in a rock tribute group) choirs (Alexandra) being professional pub singers (Rachel) gone to stage school (Leona) or had singing lessons/voice coaching or whatever, the stereotype of a girl singing into her hairbrush infront of the mirror and then going onto X Factor final 12 is a myth, they are all semi professional singers over the years pretty much so I don't think "fix" Edited December 7, 200816 yr by B.A Baracus

December 7, 200816 yr Was out partying last night so missed the show, but have been listening to the songs for the latter part of the day and I can reveal my scores- 01| Alexandra - Don't Stop The Music 02| Eggnog - Year 3000 :o 03| Diana - White Flag 04| Alexandra - Unbreak My Heart 05| JLS - I'm Already There 06| Diana - Girlfriend 07| Eggnog - Does Your Mother Know 08| JLS - Umbrella
December 7, 200816 yr Diana was invited round cheryls house this evening for dinner to discuss her future plans. (From Sky News) i know its not that interesting but i thought i'd mention it :D Edited December 7, 200816 yr by KJ Christmas Rob
December 7, 200816 yr As far as the fix thing goes, even if Sinitta knew every contestant in the whole series and invited them all to audition late, at the end of the day, the judges don't decide the winner. If Leona had been invited late, but was $h!t, she wouldnt have won. We don't care where the singers have come from, what their background is, as long as from the 12 finalists, we choose our winner. If there was any 'fix' in the phone voting, it would have been flagged up as it has on MANY other shows. ----------- 01. Alexandra - Un-Break My Heart I think this is probably a bias placing, because I like many of you was a bit underwhelmed by this when I saw it, possibly because of the structure as you say! However I was out last night and probably watched it 100 times on the bus home (God bless YouTube on the iPhone) and I fell in love with the little intricacies, until I adored it. I think Listen was a lot better but still a cracking performance. 02. Diana - White Flag Watching live this was right up there with Alex for me. Her best performance since 'Call Me', there were some bad bits but when it was right, it was magic. Perfect song choice for her, and there was one word 'I'll hold my tongue' which was just full of emotion. You know when something just goes through you and hits a nerve (in a good way), it was just a magic... word. The last line was also emotional and well sung. 03. JLS - I'm Already There Good stuff, this. Much better than You Light Up My Life IMO. Aston hit a big old note there. It was a bit 'winning performance' to be honest but vocally it was good and it was overall pretty strong. 04. Eoghan - Year 3000 This was lots of fun, and one of the best performances from Eoghan in weeks. Not his best (loved him on Mariah week), but very good. Don't know if I agree he should be doing it as his style if he gets a deal though... an album of Busted type stuff seems a bit old.. Why was he singing 'is doing fine', too? Is he not allowed to say a girl is pretty fine?] 05. Alexandra - Don't Stop The Music I thought was one of her weakest. Vocals were good, movement was very good, it just lacked any oomph in my opinion. I'm glad she did an upbeat, contemporary song, but for me this was nothing on Toxic, even though it was vocally far more capable. I think this is just not a big performance song, it's a good to dance to song. 06. JLS - Umbrella Vocally it was really good - and props to Marvin for taking it into the key change 'I'll be all you need and more' very strongly. However the dancing TOTALLY put me off this - I found it all very strange and highly uncessary - what was the use of a flip in a song like this, it wasn't Run DMC... also when they did their communal group move, why was Aston doing that funny thing with his arms, dancing like Soulja Boy and shouting OHHHHHH! I just found the whole thing detracted from the vocal and as a performance was very offputting. I think they were in time with each other but out of time with the backing vocals - which I think there were loads of! I don't see why a group of four people should have any at all, it makes me wonder how much of their 'great harmonies' are actually great harmonies.. 07. Eoghan - Does Your Mother Know? Decent but unspectacular is how I would describe this. The vocal was fine, again very loud BVs and he moves surprisingly well, but nothing really great happened. I think it COULD have been great if there'd been a routine he'd actually joined in with rather than just bouncing around the joint - that really would have escalated it. 08. Diana - Girlfriend I really didn't like this. It was good to see her having fun and moving a bit but I just found there was no saving grace with the vocal. I am not a fan of the original to be fair but there is so many better Avril songs she could have done - and the one bit of this vocal I was looking forward to her doing ('hey yoo-uu-ouuuu'), they missed out. I found it a total dissapointment, and I know Avril is Canadian but to hear Diana doing the speaking bit in an American accent was horrid. Such a shame because White Flag was really great for her. Result To be honest, I wasn't bothered at ALL as long as Alex got through, but in hindsight, I'd rather have seen Diana stay over JLS or Eoghan. So I am a bit sad, but it's far from the worst outcome for me. Overall 01. Alexandra ----------- 02. JLS 03. Eoghan but JLS are there by default. I'd rather see Diana, Ruth, Austin or Scott in the final over JLS. Prediction WINNER - Eoghan 2nd - Alexandra 3rd - JLS
December 8, 200816 yr 1 | Don't Stop The Music 2 | Unbreak My Heart *insert gulf of mexico here* 3 | I'm Already There - Best non alex song by far *insert firth of forth here* 4 | Year 3000 5 | Umberella * insert atlantic ocean here* 6| Girlfriend - f***ing dire she sounded horrid as usual 7 | Does Your Mother Know - what a way to ruin my fave Abba song. :puke: 8 | White Flag - i didn't think you could make a dido song $h!tter Overall. Alex - Fantastic deserves to win JLS - pretty $h!t, shouldn't be here, but then again alex is the only one that should be. Eggnog - He's a vile vile little $h!t that hasn't an ounce of talent. I wish people would actually vote based on talent Diana - deserved to go. Shouldn't have made it past the auditions. I feel like my ears are being raped everytime she sings. she has the worst vocals i have ever heard, and those of you who thought White Flag was amazing should go to your GP and ask for a hearing test. That was the worst thing i have ever had the displeasure of hearing.
December 9, 200816 yr Author I believe the formula for Saturdays show is All 3 acts will be singing 3 songs each, apart from the final stage. In the first atage all 3 acts will duet with Beyonce, than they sing a Xmas track, one act will not go through after their second sing off. In the final stage the remaining 2 acts will be singing the single.
December 9, 200816 yr I believe the formula for Saturdays show is In the first atage all 3 acts will duet with Beyonce Advantage Alexandra She would be great in a duet with Beyonce whereas Eoghan's drippy weedy little voice would be car crash telly
December 9, 200816 yr In the first atage all 3 acts will duet with Beyonce I highly doubt that will happen. They're getting three guests, like last year, and one guest will duet with one act. Advantage Alexandra She would be great in a duet with Beyonce whereas Eoghan's drippy weedy little voice would be car crash telly I personally don't see a duet with Beyoncé as a good thing for Alex. I know Alex admires Beyoncé but Bey has a much more powerful voice than her and she doesn't seem to be the sort of artist to have grace and hold back to flatter the contestant's voice. It could be a bit 'car crash' like the Rhydian/Katherine Jenkins duet last year where Katherine completely overpowered him.

See where you are coming from for sure but what cost Rhydian last year was all the Kylie fans jamming the phone lines for Leon as opposed to anything Rhydian did wrong, Katherine Jenkins would overpower anyone, while no doubt at all Beyonce will overpower Alex voice wise I think Eoghan with his really weak voice and Beyonce with her power voice is the match made in hell, JLS and Beyonce could go quite well
