I made this point in support of Release Me, seeing as everyone else seems to be slating it  I'm not saying it is a clear winner, just that it's in with a good chance because I can imagine it picking up a lot of 10's and 12's rather than a lot of 3's and 4's...

As for not allowing odds, I actually think that it's a great shame that they've been abolished as I feel that these threads often generate some of the most interesting discussion on here, and they are usually completely wrong anyway. I know you think that it will make the final more interesting but they are always completely unpredictable anyway...

If William Hill tried to abolish odds on Eurovision there would be an outcry! And the 2008 odds queen Charlotte Perrelli walked away with it didn't she :heehee:

Hmmmm, I may reconsider this  And anyway, Dima ruled the odds last year, and recently it's been very rare for something to win out of nowhere :P

My aim is to qualify twice this year :)

I think anymore than that would be an unreallistic target

I actually do think its a shame the odds thread has been closed :(

Its a fun idea. As for Release Me, I've listened to it a 3rd time, and its good just not great still.

in ESC or BJSC?

Because I don't recall Olsen Brothers, Tanel & Dave, Marie N and Lordi exactly having a wave of bookies support behind them :kink:

I don't think I ever saw any odds last year that didn't place 'Hero' in the top five, the only thing I can compare it to in BJSC is the complete and utter flop of Superhuman, which I thought was an easy top 5 finish for Lorikeet :o

I was referring to the BJSC, as people here are generally very perceptive as to what will do well - I think Black Butta was the last winner to have been completely absent from anyone's top five?

it was indeed, which shows that people know what makes a good entry! I just think that the 'odds thread' is one of the things that BJSC has grown up with which makes it so great each month...it's one of my favourite threads, I love to know what other people think will do well, and it always adds more discussion when songs come out of nowhere to do well in the final, or highly tipped songs flop

and also in the Semi-Final results thread when people say stuff like 'it has to be FSR Rontvia through last'...I don't think there would be as much expectation as to what will and won't go through without odds threads/predictas, so ultimately there will be less discussion all round, making for what you see as a more exciting contest, but what I see as a much more boring build up...

the contest only lasts for 3 hours and has plenty of surprises and risks, whereas the build up lasts for a month, and it's been dead in here the last few days with nothing to discuss

in a nutshell: bring the odds thread back :P

Sold. Odds threads shall be permitted and predictas shall be public :cheer:

hooray :party2:

I shall be making my odds when the confirmation closes (and obviously when I'm online), hopefully tomorrow night :D

:w00t: More speculation is what people wanted :o

I love speculation, and I love hyped songs failing, and I love unhyped songs doing amazingly well :cheer: it's all part of the M.A.G.I.C. of BJSC :kink:

Is the odd thread back? :o

yes, we can start it tomorrow :cheer: I hope more people than usual make odds, usually a lot of people don't like making them as they are too modest to know where to place their own entry in the odds -_- I love doing odds, it helps me to clearly separate the good from the bad

it's all part of the M.A.G.I.C. of BJSC :kink:

How unimportunately :kink:

:( I was actually looking forward to an Odd's Thread Free contest :snif: Makes it alot less predictable I reckon. :snif:

I bet I won't make it through to the final with my song :snif:
