I was wondering, because i've just counted up every song that's made my top 40 this year, new, old or whatever and given a rough number. So has anyone else counted up all the songs that have hit their chart this year. Mine btw is gonna be by the end of the month 340-350 :o

I simply copy and paste the songs that drop out of my chart from my chart excel document to my "all entries" document. Since 21st December i've had 468 drop out, plus 100 currently in my chart which makes 568. I didn't count, i just looked at the column number of my final song :P

Thats 41 songs i want to add to my chart :o . Although i think the bottom group won't enter this week as there isn't enough room. If all enter, it would be 36 minus "proper" re-entries, which have already fell out once of course.

So far this year there have been 280 songs in my top 40. I have 3 charts left to go his year which will probably have 4-5 new entries so it might reach 295. This means I'll have had 53 charts this year though. I guess because my last chart for last year was still relevant for part of 2008. (e.g. my #1 for 1/1/08 would be the same as the #1 on 31/12/07)

Blimey! My brain can only cope with twenty songs in a chart at any one time! If I did a Top 100, I'd forget what I'd already put and have the same song in several different positions... :D

I use an excel document to compile it and CUT and paste each song from the left side of the spreadsheet to the right side. It makes it so much faster so i don't have to type anything in except for it's latest position in it's chart run and the name of the new/re-entries. Did this weeks in 45 minutes with distractions but haven't posted it yet.

Didn't count :o I need to make my missing charts from the chart runs of next ones. My system on PC was restored so i only can find my charts on BJ. I wish i made the archive thread for this year. :( I'm planning to count the songs after my thursday exam. You only need to wait because you so want to know how many songs have been charting in my chart this year KINK
209 so far, shouldn't think that'll rise too much between now and New Year (in my chart there are still two weeks left of the year because that's the way I do it). It'll be 215 tops most likely.

With my Personal Chart this week counting for two weeks, I have one week left Tue 30th December.

So far I've had 399 songs in my Top 40 this year.

So an average of 7.673 new entries per week.

I've had 134 top ten hits this year, divide that by 52, I have 2-3 new songs in my top ten weekly...

my top 50 is much more volatile with a turnover of anything from 7-19 songs per week, probably averaging 10/11

19 new songs a week in a top 50 is insane :o . Thats nearly 40% of the chart new :o

My chart's bi-weekly, so the count is a little low. From the first debuts on the chart in January to those on the last chart in December, the total amount of songs that appeared on my chart in 2008 is exactly 100!

Probably 100 or so this year. When I started, there were about 270 in a calendar year.

2007: 400

2008: 373

2009: 359

2010: 350

2011: 349

2012: 350

2013: 351

2014: 260 (up to 14 Sep)

My chart is definitely slowing down, and becoming remarkably consistent (349,350 or 351 in the past 4 years) which works out at roughly 5-6 new entries per week. Using my database shows that the top artists in each year were as follows,

2007: Amy Winehouse (61 weeks)

2008: Laura Marling (59 weeks)

2009: Friendly Fires (48 weeks)

2010: Foals (63 weeks)

2011: The Joy Formidable (50 weeks)

2012: Jessie Ware (78 weeks)

2013: Disclosure (79 weeks)

2014: iamamiwhoami (45 weeks*) (up to 14 Sep)
