December 19, 200817 yr im trying to work out if 4 - 14 - 20 is any good, well its not awful is it, by sunday it will prob have fallen to 21 or 22. To be fair aside from Britneys first two albums which spent 18 and 8 months in the UK Top 40 most of her albums seem to drop rapidly after release before climbing again and hanging around the charts - Her last album 'Blackout' dropped rapidly in the first 5 weeks (2-13-36-50-70) but hung around for a while and returned to the Top 20 5 months later :)
December 19, 200817 yr yeah the music industry has gotten smaller, but to me, the x factor effect that people understandably call it seems to have been the best year yet. has anyone got a break down on alexandras day by day sales, how much she sold each day. how much do we reckon she'll do? i think around the same as leonas first week. how much did leon tally up all in all? i quite like his new single lol. thanks again
December 19, 200817 yr Good to see Geraldine in the Top 5 - That is the 4th Top 5 hit Peter Kay has been involved in now right?! Also can anyone please tell me the positions of The Saturdays single and album in yesterdays update?! Thanks :D Up 20+24 Issues 20+26 Album 20+20+20+20
December 19, 200817 yr Why do people buy that Geraldine rubbish? It's not funny in the slightest, and the Royal Variety performance was just cringeworthy... anyway could you tell me where Enya is in the albums today please Mikey?
December 19, 200817 yr so really circ us isnt doing good at all, in comparison to blackout, yeah, but over all no? due to the x factor stuff and all that hype, its obviusly helped her album wise. i think a total of around 400 k at the most which isnt 2 shabby, but then again the amount of money she would have had spent on her. its a tough one 2 call freally isnt it. girls aloud are doing amazing. its not my fave album by them, one of tehir worst, BUT the loving kind is fantastic and is one of their best singles to date. their albums are never that strong though and usually hav3e alot off filler. you gotta love girls aloud though.
December 19, 200817 yr has anyone got a break down on alexandras day by day sales Sunday/Monday - 149,546 Tuesday - 35,854 Wednesday - 103,800 Thursday - 93,096
December 19, 200817 yr yeah the music industry has gotten smaller, but to me, the x factor effect that people understandably call it seems to have been the best year yet. has anyone got a break down on alexandras day by day sales, how much she sold each day. how much do we reckon she'll do? i think around the same as leonas first week. how much did leon tally up all in all? i quite like his new single lol. thanks again Leon did something like 275k off the top of my head. And this is what somebody posted earlier on in the week, i've updated it: Tue mids: 88k Leona; 150k Alex Wed mids: 97k Leona; 185k Alex Thu mids: ???k Leona; 289k Alex Fri mids: 360k Leona; 382k Alex Total: 571k Leona; ???k Alex So she's overtaken Leona again, I guess the music video influence on sales has kicked in. If she can continue to build momentum she should beat Leona. They should be around the same figures, though.
December 19, 200817 yr Up 20+24 Issues 20+26 Album 20+20+20+20 Thank you :) Bit disappointed 'Up' has dropped out of The Top 40 :(
December 19, 200817 yr Thanks BYM+M's :) Is it right Will's album has climbed a place to #32? Doing well seeing as he's receiving little airplay. :D And his album isn't being advertised on TV unlike some that seem to be featured in every ad break...he's doing great :D
December 19, 200817 yr alex seems to have lost ground weds mids theres nearly 100 k between them and fri mids theres 22 k between them. so close, very hard to call. over all i prefer leona, her voice in my opinion is the best i have ever heard, its so powerful and it looks effortless. i do love alex though and her voice is one of he best ever strongest wise. i just dont like her version off the song, prefer jeffs :0( lol and thats very rare for me 2 like older versions. so was leons like 257k for the first week? was it like 500k in all? no comparison really lol, he is quite cute though, not with his shabby hair, but with his new hair lol anyway back to the charts lol
December 19, 200817 yr Why do people buy that Geraldine rubbish? It's not funny in the slightest, and the Royal Variety performance was just cringeworthy... anyway could you tell me where Enya is in the albums today please Mikey? Enya is 20+5+2 Personally I think Geraldine's hilarious
December 19, 200817 yr And his album isn't being advertised on TV unlike some that seem to be featured in every ad break...he's doing great :D Will is at that position today, but he seems to have slipped one place... presumably from last week.
December 19, 200817 yr And his album isn't being advertised on TV unlike some that seem to be featured in every ad break...he's doing great :D Woolies also had hundreds of copies in stock today and have 20% off all entertainment which could be helping sales :)

December 19, 200817 yr Why do people buy that Geraldine rubbish? It's not funny in the slightest, and the Royal Variety performance was just cringeworthy... anyway could you tell me where Enya is in the albums today please Mikey? The Take That fans are out in force buying it too (Me included! :P ) - I never would have bought the CDs or download were it not for Gary Barlows involvement :)

December 19, 200817 yr Author The Circus passes million barrier 10:47 | Friday December 19, 2008 By Alan Jones Some time this morning (Friday) The Circus by Take That sold its millionth copy in the UK, and became the all-time second fastest album to reach a seven-figure sale. The album was released just 19 days ago. The only album to reach a million more rapidly is fellow Mancunians Oasis’ 1997 album Be Here Now, which reached the target in 11 days. The Circus has sold 991,508 copies up to close of business yesterday (Thursday) and has already been certified quintuple platinum, with Universal shipments exceeding 1.5m copies. Initially available for as little as £5.88 physically (Asda) and £3 as a download (Amazon), The Circus is now hard to find for less than £8 in any format but continues to sell at a very rapid clip. Remarkably for an album to sell so many copies in such a short time, it wasn’t available in the stricken Woolworths chain until this week. The retailer may be winding down but now has plentiful stocks of the album priced at £10.97 – though a blanket 10% reduction on audio products means the till price is £9.87. Four other albums have sold a million copies in less than a month: in third place is Take That’s last album, 2006’s Beautiful World (27 days), Robson & Jerome’s self-titled 1995 debut and The Beatles’ 2000 compilation 1, both took 28 days, and Leona Lewis’ Spirit became a million seller after 29 days last year. Beautiful World is by far Take That’s biggest seller, with to date sales of more than 2.5m. It will overtake former member Robbie Williams’ biggest-selling solo album, I’ve Been Expecting You, within weeks. Take That’s return to prominence after more than a decade apart has been an unqualified success, and in addition to selling more than 3.5m copies of their two new albums since reconvening, they have sold nearly 1.7m copies of their compilation Never Forget – The Ultimate Collection. With catalogue sales of their earlier three studio albums and a compilation, Take That have sold more than 5.5m albums so far this decade. The Circus is the third or fourth album to sell a million copies this year, following Duffy’s Rockferry and Coldplay’s Viva La Vida. It crossed the barrier almost simultaneous with The Kings Of Leon’s Only By The Night, which had sold 995,147 copies by close of business last night. Meanwhile, fifth season X Factor champion Alexandra Burke’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah is on target to secure the highest weekly sale by a single for exactly two years. Available since Sunday as a download, it secured its first trickle of physical sales on Tuesday, and has already sold 382,296 copies. The last single to sell more copies in a week was third season X Factor champion Leona Lewis’s debut single Bleeding Love, which dashed to first week sales of 571,253 in 2006. Lewis’ latest single, Run, has been number one for the last two weeks but has now slipped behind Burke’s single and the late Jeff Buckley’s 1994 recording of Hallelujah. Run has sold 54,408 copies so far this week, Buckley’s Hallelujah 59,676. Buckley’s version first surfaced in the Top 75 here in March, following ITV2’s screening of a cover by American Idol contestant Jason Castro, in the style of Buckley. It returned to the chart a few weeks ago, after being performed in The X Factor by Diana Vickers, who finished fourth in the contest. Assuming Run doesn’t wrestle its way back to number two before the end of the week, Hallelujah will become the first song ever to hold down the number one and two slots in the chart simultaneously.
