'Death' is actually great! :o

'To Lose My Life' is OK, 'Unfinished Business' is OK too :o

Oh My, Please help me :drama: :(

I actually think they will be serious contenders for the Mercury Music Prize TBH! (That's even before I've heard anything else off their album)

Death was alright but i really dont see this band as anything special, they are hardly unique, they just sound like the average indie band, their exsistance is rather unessarcary.

but their exsistance is mor eimportant than Glasvegas.

but that isnt hard.

 Glasvegas are for Scotland :magic:

I don't think they're that great and i think they'll flop. I don't like the vocals at all :(

I remember Jake sent me 'Death' ages ago and I thought it was a bit rubbih. But i've given it more listen recently and it's such a great track. Has such an anthemic feel about the song - especially the last two minutes or so. I love To Lose My Life.

They remind me of a cross between Killers and Editors. I just think they have a very Killery type appeal to them - but the issues they sign about are quite depressive, and his vocals are very much like Editors' lead vocalist.

What do people think of the album?

I haven't listened to it a lot yet, but from what I've heard so far it sounds brilliant. Especially like E.S.T, The Price of Love and Farewell to the Fareground, as well as the singles obviously.

Oh and it's currently at #1 in the midweeks! :o

FANTASTIC

I think it's awful. I've really gone off 'Death' now and 'To Lose My Life' was never that good anyway. The only other good track on there (apart from 'Unfinished Buisness') is 'Farewell to the Fairground'. The rest blends from average-$h!t.

People talk of similarities to Editors, Joy Division etc.... but To Lose My Life sounds like something Teardrop Explodes would have released in 1981...their 'Treason' and 'Reward' era.... he sounds just like Julian Cope.

But I really like them..... great bass on the new single.

Went out on a limb and bought this yesterday, tis very good imo. Tracks I like (aside from the singles) include 'A Place To Hide', 'E.S.T' and 'From The Stars'
I love the album. It does sound very similar (I must admit) but lyrically it's quite clever, and they have good tunes as well. I heard Fairwell To The Fairground wellll before I got the album and it's BY FAR the best track. It's sososososo good.
I was in two minds of getting the album, considering the comments in here are rather on the positive side, I'm swaying towards in acquiring the album. Hpoefully it will not disappoint.

I bought their album after hearing Farewell To Te Fairground, and i was surprised by how amazing it is!

And yeah, they may sound similar to Joy Division/Interpol etc but everyone has their influences and everyone sort of copies other people.

Tbh i think they should be given a break, they're the only band lately to come up with something that has a bit of originality and isn't just coming off the same stereotypical train of every other indie band.

It's alright I suppose.... It's a pretty obvious bet as to what they have in their music collections though - Joy Division, Bauhaus, The Cure, Radiohead.... The usual suspects really.... They're nowhere near as interesting nor clever with their influences as Interpol though, and it just all sounds a little too contrived for my liking, and I'm a bit uncertain about the vocals, they really should be less 'clean' for the sort of sound they make... I can listen to it, but given that I grew up when this sound was being pioneered back in the early 80s, it really is nothing new for me I'm afraid and seems a bit half-hearted.....

Just a decent album for me. Not that revolutionary, the vocals are bit too dodgy, but it's worth it.

Well, not the money but the time. :P

I bought the album after Edith Bowman played Farewell To The Fairground, the next single, and I remember thinking when I heard the album in full that this has got to get a Mercury nomination

I cant believe it got to number one, slightly disappointed by its placing at the moment, but it was to be expected

To anyone who is unsure yet about buying the album, than get it, it is amazing
