Posted December 20, 200816 yr The 411’s End Of Year Chart 2008 Hello and welcome to my end of year countdown. For anyone who might be interested I did not use a point system for my end of year so the countdown will reflect my favourite songs of the year true fully without a bias towards songs released at the beginning of the year. Songs released last year (Call The Shots) shall not be making an appearance and neither shall songs released in 2009 (Loving Kind, Sober, Just Dance, Issues) even if they reach their peak in 2008. December 20, 200816 yr Author 100. Cahill feat Nikki Belle – Tripping On You – 24,19,23,34,39 – 5 Weeks I really should have charted this higher, the 7th highest dance record on the countdown aswell 99. Ida Maria – I Like You So Much Better When Your Naked – 22,14,20,24,33 – 5 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0rgpDcWLKM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0rgpDcWLKM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Only got into it after the release which explains why it only peaked at a lowly #14, it did get old rather quickly though. 98. David Jordan – Move On – 31,25,27,26,28,23,21,20,26,35 – 10 Weeks Poor David, he will always be a one hit wonder now wont he. The first of 3 appearances for him. 97. David Jordan – Place In My Heart – 24,16,12,12,11,13,18,33 – 8 Weeks And here's his second, the re-release of Place In My Heart, which i dont actually think managed to chart at all did it despite being relesead twice. 96. Miley Cyrus – 7 Things – 22,31,xxxxx,33,26,19,17,13,13,12,20,37 – 11 Weeks Best thing Miley has ever touched IMO, shame it didnt make the top 10 but there was so much competition at the time
December 20, 200816 yr Author Thanks John. I've added some comments now just to make it slightly more interesting.
December 21, 200816 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/01/JoinWithUs.jpg/200px-JoinWithUs.jpg 30.THE FEELING – JOIN WITH US Kicking off the album’s countdown is The Feeling’s second album Join With Us and like a lot of similar bands the second album flopped – badly. I Thought It Was Over was a decent enough effort but was poor when compared to the first album material. Without You was just an appalling choice of single by the time the album’s 2 best songs were released (Turn It Up & Join With Us) it became to late to save the era. Album Highlight(s): Join With Us, Turn It Up
December 21, 200816 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/69/KatDeluna-9Lives.jpg/200px-KatDeluna-9Lives.jpg 29. Kat De Luna – 9 Lives One of the albums I bought on import this year then is from the rather unknown Kat DeLuna whose only UK single limped in at #41. I personally think this album is OK, it’s nothing to brag about it’s just simply rather average and mediocre. Let’s be honest here, Kat is nothing to get exited about, there are plenty of other solo female singers out there who really are coming up with better stuff than her so if she finds another label after getting dropped I doubt the sucsess will be any different. Highlights: Run The Show, Whine Up
December 21, 200816 yr Author 95. Brit & Alex – Let It Go – 39,38,28,22,17,18,24,35 – 8 Weeks name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" data-tag="youtube" data-tagfull="<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Looking back this probably should have peaked higher than #17 since I now adore this song a lot more than I did in April. 94. Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood, Keyshia Cole, Leann Rimes, Ashanti and Ciara – Just Stand Up – 33,25,12,11,12,13,22,34 – 8 Weeks <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr5mvNPyV1I&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr5mvNPyV1I&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object> The ultamite collaboration! Really wanted to put this in my top 10 but there just wasn’t enough space. Also watch the live performance, so many LOL moments in it. 93. Taio Cruz – I Can Be - 27,13,9,12,28 – 5 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGGL6_-C31s&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGGL6_-C31s&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Wow, I hadn’t realised how c**p of a chart run I gave this. Anyway Taio’s best song IMO just that it got very old very quickly for me. 92. Chris Brown – Forever - 34,24,18,13,12,11,10,14,18,23,28,33,30 – 13 Weeks name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" data-tag="youtube" data-tagfull="<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> The first of 4 appearances from Chris, an artist I like many probably only started taking an interest in this year. This is a good effort from him and just about managed to make the top 10 but some of his other material is better. 91. Black Kids – Im Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend - 33,12,13,19,30 – 5 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bErcZbracc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bErcZbracc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> The surprise hit of the year really. Probably should have given this a longer chart run but it did well to get to #12 really.
December 21, 200816 yr  the rest of the singles except Black Kids :puke: Great to see you've listed 'Whine Up' as one of the highlights from '9 Lives'
December 21, 200816 yr 94. Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood, Keyshia Cole, Leann Rimes, Ashanti and Ciara – Just Stand Up – 33,25,12,11,12,13,22,34 – 8 Weeks 93. Taio Cruz – I Can Be - 27,13,9,12,28 – 5 Weeks 92. Chris Brown – Forever - 34,24,18,13,12,11,10,14,18,23,28,33,30 – 13 Weeks I love these choices. I agree with you about I Can Be, though. Forever is a quality track. It's not his best, but it's a step in the right direction (being more than it's more of a pop leaning song). I'm a sucker for his R&B jams, but it's good he's trying new things and it's definitely helping him reach superstar status. Some nice choices so far.
December 22, 200816 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/8a/Adele2.jpg/200px-Adele2.jpg 28. Adele – 19 Considering the amazingness of Chasing Pavements I was expecting a brilliant album but what I got was very underwhelming and disappointing. At least Adele chose all the best songs to be singles though, so well done her. I just hope she doesn’t become a one album artist and that she doesn’t vanish into thin air. Album Highlights: Chasing Pavements, Hometown Glory, Cold Shoulder, Make You Feel My Love
December 22, 200816 yr Author 90. No Angels – Disappear - 22,12,13,19,23,30,33,36 – 8 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZBZfmwyH3o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZBZfmwyH3o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Yes, that’s right Germany’s entry to this years Eurovision which criminally finished joint last with the UK and Poland. Anyway the only Eurovision song to make the top 100. Others who I charted were Euroband, Diana Gurtaskaya & Charlotte Perelli, anyway love this song 89. Kat De Luna – Run The Show - 31,29,26,16,14,19,27,35 – 8 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeM8JUWOwP8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeM8JUWOwP8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Poor Kat, came so close to making the top 40. Anyway I really said my thoughts on Kat herself when posting her album at #29 but this was a great wasn’t it. 88. Keri Hilson – Energy - 38,15,16,14,12,10,14,16,15,15,14,13,19,23,34,37 – 16 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZZRHlhViiE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZZRHlhViiE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Again poor Keri, this was actually quite an unexpected flop for quite a lot of people since everyone thought it might even become a #1, how wrong we were. 87. Britney Spears – Break The Ice - 38,26,38,32,13,8,10,15,12,31 – 10 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WWSN15O29g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WWSN15O29g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Obviously not as good as Gimme More or Piece Of Me but a very good 3rd single from Britney. Radar would have been a much better choice though. 86. Atomic Kitten – Anyone Who Had A Heart - 27,9,12,21,24,30,33,37 – 8 Weeks name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" data-tag="youtube" data-tagfull="<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Lots of artists I feel sorry for in this group aren’t there anyway poor Kittens – Am I actually the only person who likes this song by them, I knew it would flop but I still expected better than the #77 it got.
December 22, 200816 yr Fantastic bunch there! No Angels was really under rated as a Eurovision entry! 90. No Angels – Disappear - 22,12,13,19,23,30,33,36 – 8 Weeks 89. Kat De Luna – Run The Show - 31,29,26,16,14,19,27,35 – 8 Weeks 88. Keri Hilson – Energy - 38,15,16,14,12,10,14,16,15,15,14,13,19,23,34,37 – 16 Weeks 87. Britney Spears – Break The Ice - 38,26,38,32,13,8,10,15,12,31 – 10 Weeks 86. Atomic Kitten – Anyone Who Had A Heart - 27,9,12,21,24,30,33,37 – 8 Weeks
December 22, 200816 yr Hey Aled, my comments so far... 100. Cahill feat Nikki Belle – Tripping On You – 24,19,23,34,39 – 5 Weeks Quite bland but decent dance track, was a top 5 hit for me. 99. Ida Maria – I Like You So Much Better When Your Naked – 22,14,20,24,33 – 5 Weeks Love this, comepletely forgot about it though. Another top 5 hit for me. 98. David Jordan – Move On – 31,25,27,26,28,23,21,20,26,35 – 10 Weeks Don't remember this one but I don't like him. 97. David Jordan – Place In My Heart – 24,16,12,12,11,13,18,33 – 8 Weeks Read above. 96. Miley Cyrus – 7 Things – 22,31,xxxxx,33,26,19,17,13,13,12,20,37 – 11 Weeks Nice but not her best. 95. Brit & Alex – Let It Go – 39,38,28,22,17,18,24,35 – 8 Weeks Hmm, think I charted it but I'm not that much of a fan. 94. Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood, Keyshia Cole, Leann Rimes, Ashanti and Ciara – Just Stand Up – 33,25,12,11,12,13,22,34 – 8 Weeks Another song I forgot about. It really does make you wonder how big this could have been with more than just one live performance and a video! 93. Taio Cruz – I Can Be - 27,13,9,12,28 – 5 Weeks Didn't really like this. He has done many better tracks. 92. Chris Brown – Forever - 34,24,18,13,12,11,10,14,18,23,28,33,30 – 13 Weeks A nice little song but far from his best! 91. Black Kids – Im Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend - 33,12,13,19,30 – 5 Weeks Love this, definitely one of the best new bands this year. Much better on the album though. 90. No Angels – Disappear - 22,12,13,19,23,30,33,36 – 8 Weeks The performance on the night deserved last! I do like the song though, about 5 others were better. 89. Kat De Luna – Run The Show - 31,29,26,16,14,19,27,35 – 8 Weeks Love her, my favourite from the album. 88. Keri Hilson – Energy - 38,15,16,14,12,10,14,16,15,15,14,13,19,23,34,37 – 16 Weeks Really really bad. I have nothing against Keri but this was never destined to be a hit. 87. Britney Spears – Break The Ice - 38,26,38,32,13,8,10,15,12,31 – 10 Weeks Forgetable, one of her weakest singles ever. 86. Atomic Kitten – Anyone Who Had A Heart - 27,9,12,21,24,30,33,37 – 8 Weeks  I didn't think anyone liked this. I reckon it will be either No Air or Outta My Head at #1.
December 22, 200816 yr Author Thanks for commenting KJ, John & Lewis and a hppy xmas to you all. Lewis, i agree with you on Forever, Run The Show & Just Stand Up, they really should have made a video for it. Britney has done better than BTI but id say there are at least 6 odd songs which i consider it to be better than. As for Keri, a lot of people on here said #1 was a definate for it and even i thought it would at least make the top 10. I havent got the Black Kids album, i didnt like the second single so i never bothered.
December 22, 200816 yr Black Kids' album is amazing Aled  Although it is basically INGTYBHTDWY and Hurricane Jane repeated. Both are similar and awesome, how could you not like Hurricane Jane? Edited December 22, 200816 yr by Harve
December 23, 200816 yr Author 85. Definatly one of Rihanna’s weakest tracks and most of the original albums is better than Take A Bow. 84. La Roux – Quicksand - 16,9 – 2 Weeks <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMBNZ6mDSYk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMBNZ6mDSYk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object> Fantastic track from an artist who will hopefully be huge in 2009. My 12 in BJSC aswell. 83. Alicia Keys – Like You’ll Never See Me Again - 32,31,25,14,14,11,7,13,22,26 – 10 Weeks name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" data-tag="youtube" data-tagfull="<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> What a dreadful choice of second single this was, has she opted for Teenage Love Affair or Superwoman to be second she could have at least have managed another top 40 hit. Stop, this is such a beauty of a song. 82. Chris Brown feat Keri Hilson – Superhuman - 20,11,10,8,11,13,16,22,35 – 9 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAAjloVFVfU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAAjloVFVfU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> How boring did this get after a while? Had this been released back when it leaked it would have been a definite #1. 81. Kelly Rowland – Work - 39,29,20,9,6,4,10,20,31 – 9 Weeks <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqAXFapbF1M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqAXFapbF1M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Slightly overated song on my opinion and not a patch on Stole and IMO the brilliant Daylight aswell, probably should have given it a better chart run though.
December 23, 200816 yr Author 27. Little Jackie – The Stoop http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c3/TheStoop.jpg/200px-TheStoop.jpg Like Kat DeLuna at #29, there is fundamentally nothing wrong with this album, it’s just that after lead single World Should Revolve Around Me there is nothing that makes you take notice or go wow at like World Should Revolve did. But anyway still a strong enough debut from a very exiting new act, what the hell’s happened to the second single though? Highlights: The World Should Revolve, Crying For The Queen, The Stoop 26. Sandi Thom – Pink & The Lily http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/bc/Sandipink.jpg/200px-Sandipink.jpg Yes, that’s right, somebody actually still likes poor Sandi Thom. This albums is to be honest not all that good and was really on par with her debut. Lead single Devil’s Beat was however one of the year’s most overlooked songs and had it been recorded by an artist with more credibility (well any credibility really) then the era would have been more successful. Highlights: The Devil’s Beat, Saturday Night
