December 28, 200816 yr Well to start with there' stuff like All Summer Long, Rockstar, Low, Wearing My Rolex etc which were just awful but there's also stuff like I Kissed A Girl, Take A Bow, Womanizer, When I Grow Up, Girls, Touch My Body and Man Who Cant Be Moved which whilst being good enough songs did not deserve to do aswell as they did.
December 28, 200816 yr I'm surprised you haven't mentioned 'Disturbia' :kink: Lol i forget Disturbia, and agree with Alesha too.
December 28, 200816 yr Good Choice. How is it? Girls was never overated, infact most people hated it, if anything it was bloody underated!
December 28, 200816 yr The Script - Man who can't be moved Ting Tings - Thats Not my name Can't think of any other right now
December 28, 200816 yr Britney Spears - Womaniser Tuneless dirge. She's simply the musical equivalent of Kate Moss; undeservedly benefitting from adverse publicity. Basshunter - Now You're Gone Cascada was bad enough... This is why sales to Chavs should be immediately discounted. Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl Just a vlie, ridiculous song, aiming to sell simply on shock tactics a la tATu. Adele - Chasing Pavements Pleasant enough, but she pretty much just ripped off James Morrison on this.
December 29, 200816 yr Take That - Greatest Day one of my favourite bands but should this really have peaked higher than the epic Rule The World!?!
December 29, 200816 yr Spin off from the flop thread. Which songs do you think were overrated in the charts? Mine are: Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah X-Factor Finalists - Hero Leon Jackson 2nd single All did well because of Simon Cowell manipulating the chart. With Leon, I think help from Scotland. Can't Cowell drop dead, retire? Coldplay - Viva La Vida Pompous arses who make depressing music. agreed 100% Alexandra Burke/Jeff Buckley/Whoever else!!?? - Hallelujah. Horrible, 'plodding' depressing, over-rated song. Makes people jump on the band wagon, especially the 'cool' "DEFINATIVE" version by Jeff Buckley...now deceased (could that have maybe helped it's popularity...hmmmmm....Princess Diana syndrome) agreed with this too 100%
December 29, 200816 yr For me are overrated: Kid Rock - All summer long Britney - Womaniser
December 29, 200816 yr Leona Lewis - Run overrate tripe. She tries way to hard to sound like mariah and she fails Katy Perry - hot and cold ARGH THIS IS PLAYED EVERYWHERE! If this was her first song and she wasn't dating Gym Class hero. This song wouldn't even chart. Alex - Hallelujah :puke2: congrats to alex and simon cowell for making this track overrated Rihanna - any track she sings is always overrated especially that vile mai hee Girls Aloud promise such an overrated band. Why don't they try spending some time concentrating on music instead of this tacky shows on ITV. I'm suprised no one said Nickleback rockstar.
December 29, 200816 yr Lol I like most of the songs mentioned in this thread. I dont think they are 'over-rated' at all. It's just a list of songs people dont like.
December 29, 200816 yr Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah. Depressing, horrible, awful Haha, I love all this nonsense about songs being 'depressing'. For a start, how in the name of Simon Cowell can a song called 'Hallelujah' possibly be depressing? It's not depressing; it's beautiful. Well, Buckley's was anyway; Burke's ruins it with the ending key change and X-Factor choir. The whole 'depressing' argument just describes though what's wrong with todays charts. People only want to hear 'happy' music that doesn't make them think - and yes, I enjoy a mindless track as much as anyone (stuff like AC/DC and Airbourne does that for me) - but the beauty of music is how it can convey so many different emotions. IMO, two of the best songs written this year were 'This I Love' by GNR and 'Coil' by Opeth. But no-one here will have heard of those I'm sure... :teresa:

I actually like Buckley's version but to say it's not depressing is ridiculous. It's typical "slit you wrist" music; the vocal expression, arrangement et al. Sure, you can say it's beautifula, but it is also depressing song. I think it's a good, emotional song but I can see why people are put off Buckley's version. As for overrated? Greatest Day by Take That. Good song, but not a patch on Rule the World. I think that song is criminally underrated, especially when lists are compiled of Take That songs that don't even INCLUDE RTW. That Gabriella chick, too. Her voice really irritates me.

Makes people jump on the band wagon, especially the 'cool' "DEFINATIVE" version by Jeff Buckley...now deceased (could that have maybe helped it's popularity...hmmmmm....Princess Diana syndrome) I doubt that would have had much impact - Jeff Buckley died 11 years ago and he recorded his version of 'Hallelujah' 15 years ago....
December 30, 200816 yr Anything X-factor related: Hero, Halleluja... Dear God! I so wish it stopped! Girls Aloud The promise : #1 my ass! they are generally overrated! Kid Rock all summer long... WTF! Beyoncè If I were a Boy/single lady: the first si booooring to be a launch single and the other one is just un-listenable! Rihanna Take A Bow : yaaaawn! Take That Greatest Day: ok-ish but definitely not deserving #1
December 30, 200816 yr KATY PERRY - I KISSED A GIRL Most overated song EVER. Yes yes yes yes yes! I like the production, but she can't really sing, and the lyrics are AWFUL :puke: Love how this has become another X Factor bashing thread
