Just goes to show how the download era has totally changed the market meaning fanbases alone are not enough to guarantee a hit as acts such as Madonna, Kylie, Boyzone, Will Young etc, have found out :)

To be fair though, Madonna and Kylie both screwed up their singles. Madonna didn't even make a video for 'Miles Away', and Kylie cancelled her physical release for 'The One' (which would have been the only real buyers for a fourth single, given she has one of the biggest physical fanbases out there), and a cheap video for it was shown after it had fallen out of the top 75.

^^ Yeh i agree, the kylie and madonna flops were exceptions. Madonnas album flopped anyway so you would expect the 3rd single to flop and videos are the most important promo so it never got off to a great start.

I think kylie would have easily got top 10 if it had been a normal single campaign.

Oh well.. there was a glimmer of hope when I saw news updated for today, it was only 1 piece of news, any hopes of a mid update today is fading away like a flower. :(

Maybe we should send smoke signals :smoke:

Isn't this post SPAM.

Aww it's a shame we haven't heard anything yet, but here's my predictions.

Same number 1's in singles and albums. I think Duffy may return to the top 5 with Rockferry, she very nearly did last week so January sales should benefit her. I think Issues will climb into the top 30, Loving Kind will probably re-appear, Lady GaGa should climb throughout the week, possibly top 20 come Sunday. No Can Do will probably land around number 32.

That's what makes it worse. At least Kylie & Madge have the reason for NOT promoting. Whereas the Sugababes have done quite a bit of promotion.

Sugababes did as much promo as possible really, ive seen tv ads, tv promo dates, video and remixes. Its gona be a major flop unfortunately. And it does deserve top 15-20.

i wish sugababes went top 20, one of their best songs in my opinion

5 No Can Do

4 Overload

3 About You Now

2 Push the Button

1 Stronger

Are we getting any info this week then?

cheers

I dont think we will get anything all week personally.

On the subject of the No Can Do flop, I think it will get low Top 30, about #29 or something.

I am sorry to say...I wonder how x factor ruin the other great singles...

anyway...I wish all the things will be over next week with Lady Gaga

not offending alex...but it shouldn't hold so long at the top spot...give me a new single later this year to wow us...that's what the winner should be...don't let the winner's single take over the other good singles...

Just like US...the winner single is not everything...

I am not starting a fight...but it's just to be fair to the other good singles...like Broken String or Run or If I were a boy

At least not all American Idol's winners get No. 1 single. e.g. Jordin Sparks

yeah that's what i mean...

winner's single shouldn't be everything...

big songs are out there...that's what my point is

Oh, okay. Not everything = Not no. 1

I got it from GAM. It has been #1 on Play since last Thursday so it definitely doesn't surprise me.

Plus HMV have it cut down in their sale to only £3.
