January 4, 200917 yr 8 (from 10) The Killers - Human [P] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1789799.JPG Chart Run: 4-3-4-5-7-11-10-8 [8 wks] Release date: 17-11-2008 Format: SS (7" only) Catalogue Number: 1789799 Label: MERCURY Though a batch of 1980s-New Wave-inspired bands started making noise in the early 2000s, it wasn't until the Killers' 2004 debut album HOT FUSS (and its crossover hits "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr. Brightside") that the style really broke through to the mainstream. Heavily indebted to the likes of the Smiths, Psychedelic Furs, et al, the Las Vegas, NV quartet brought a contemporary sense of urgency to their retro-loving dance-rock sound and taught a new generation of kids that it doesn't have to be disco to be dance music. For follow-up SAM'S TOWN, the group obviously feasted on a gorge of Bruce Springsteen style rock, and while the sound boasted a slightly harder edge, the group retained the critics' and fans' adoration. - HMV Video here: track listing 1. January 4, 200917 yr Could this turn out to be Britneys biggest single (length of time in charts-wise) And curiously, what does hold that record? Piece of me seemed to do quite well too. PoM 23 weeks BOMT 22 weeks these are her longest. I'd say Womanizer has a shot and will be there or there-abouts! :)

January 4, 200917 yr No idea, Col :( On the chart of the 20 January 2001 Westlife had two albums in the Top Ten – their debut, Westlife was at number 3 while their follow up was number 10. If my memory serves, Westlife was on sale at the time. Not sure if anyone else has had two albums in the Top Ten since ... (Source of album positions: ChartStats
January 4, 200917 yr The resurgence of Hot N Cold is random :/ It's not that uncommon for the radio-friendly tracks to surge up the chart again post-Christmas though is it? It happens every January. It's not much different to the recent rises of Kings of Leon, Pink, the Killers, Britney, Pussycat Dolls, Guru Josh, Coldplay, Dizzee Rascal etc.

The Followill brothers Caleb, Jared, and Nathan (along with their cousin Matthew) play a straight-ahead, hard-driving brand of rock & roll that owes more to Crazy Horse and the Rolling Stones than it does to Molly Hatchet. Their debut album, 2003's YOUTH & YOUNG MANHOOD showed them to be an earthier equivalent to garage-rock contemporaries like the White Stripes and the Strokes. - HMV Video here: track listing 1. It's not much different to the recent rises of Kings of Leon, Pink, the Killers, Britney, Pussycat Dolls, Guru Josh, Coldplay, Dizzee Rascal etc. True, but most of those were on TOTP (which was repeated on NYE) so I put that down to them, but I haven't seen Katy Perry about more since.....

January 4, 200917 yr Author 5 (from 4) James Morrison Feat. Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings [P] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1792152.JPG Chart Run: 73-51-31-18-6-4-5 [7 wks] Release date: 8-12-2008 Format: CDS Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: 1792152 Label: POLYDOR Rugby, U.K., singer-songwriter James Morrison could be the genetic offspring of James Blunt, Joss Stone, and Terence Trent-D'Arby. Soulful vocals mixed with sensitive acoustic guitars, and some tasteful Beatles-esque string flourishes, and there you have it. Morrison's debut album, UNDISCOVERED, released in July of 2006, owed as much to contemporaries KT Tunstall and Damien Rice as it did to legends like Otis Redding, Cat Stevens, or Nick Drake--and that undeniably successful formula, not surprisingly, took the album to the top of the U.K. album charts. - HMV Video here: track listing 1.
