I think the fact that most entries in the competition seem to be 1980s inspired electro synth pop is an advantage because it makes it's quirky piano based singer/songwriter stand out much more.

I was thinking about this a while ago. We were being flooded with female singer-songwritier types before and now it's steering towards electropop so I was wondering if I should send an incredibly cheap entry from Vanessa Carlton this month instead. But I'm sure most people know her big hit and I already found out what happens when you send an album track from a similar kind of one hit wonder.

Ooh - I didn't see this post.

 

Rightm basically just look at odds as fractions, the closer the number is to zero the more likely the event is to occur, according to te 'bookmaker'. So a song at 66/1 is 66, while one at 1/5 is 0.2.

 

That's not the real explanation for it but it's probably the easiest one to understand - if you are familiar with fractions/dividing.
