Posted January 24, 200916 yr haven't done this for a while...here are some songs I can see going top 5 or potentially to No.1 in the coming weeks and months: Lily Allen - The Fear Will be No.1 next week, it's practically guaranteed Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You Let's forget about Never Again and My December, this was the comeback that fans of Breakaway wanted...this screams No.1 in the same way that About You Now, I Kissed A Girl and So What did and should top the charts in both the UK and US Taylor Swift - Love Story A huge hit in the US, country music isn't something exactly lapped up here, at least not since the Shania/Lonestar/Mavericks/LeAnn Rimes days of ten years ago...this should change all that as young blonde singer Taylor has a universal appeal and this is very much a pop song in essence...already top 5 on the iTunes video chart, this is practically guaranteed a top ten position The Veronicas - Untouched The Australian duo have been successful in their home country for about 4 years but this single, the second Australian single from their 2007 album Hook Me Up is taking off in America, having peaked at No.21 so far, and they would be stupid not to come over here with the song where I believe it could be a huge hit for them...they've waited long enough! U2 - Get On Your Boots The comeback single from Adam, Larry, The Edge and Bono. It's not the usual anthemic U2 full out stadium rock comeback single but it's a bit different and could do well because of that, as well as because the huge U2 fanbase will lap it up... Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream Australian electro dance duo who have had huge success over there recently, they should appeal to the same audience as MGMT and came 4th in the BBC Sound of 2009 poll. This lovely single has huge potential! Daniel Merriweather - Change Hyped as another 'one to watch', Daniel has already found success as a vocalist on Mark Ronson's Stop Me and Wiley's Cash In My Pocket. His own single Change should be a big success for him Alesha Dixon - Breathe Slow Already shaping up to be huge and climbing the charts quickly, the follow up to The Boy Does Nothing could give Alesha a second top five hit Lady GaGa - Poker Face It has No.1 written all over it, but then again so did Hot 'N' Cold and Don't Stop The Music, so maybe it will stall at No.4...either way, it's destined for the top five and a very long chart stay for the rising star currently at No.1 with Just Dance. The song has already topped the chart across Europe, in Australia and New Zealand and in Canada and should have similar success here! All American Rejects - Gives You Hell The new single from the American rock act, it's had a good start airplay and download wise and could well challenge for a top ten position, if not more, in the coming weeks Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) Already a No.7 hit, this is stupidly pencilled in for a physical release in two weeks despite being the b-side to If I Were A Boy and increased radio support could see this limp up a few more places Beyonce - Halo The 'proper' next single from Beyonce, Halo is a rather epic sounding urbanballad penned by OneRepublic singer Ryan Tedder which Simon Cowell had hoped Leona would have gotten her hands on. Surely another huge hit for a woman who can seemingly do no wrong at the moment!?! Shontelle - T-Shirt - Climbing quickly up iTunes and gaining more radio support by the week, T-Shirt is the debut UK single from the successor to Rihanna, Shontelle, and with a song that sounds like 100 others, how can she go wrong? Take That - Up All Night Hoping to go the way of Shine as opposed to I'd Wait For Life (remember that!?!), Take That will be aiming for another chart topper with the uptempo Mark led song Up All Night, but 1.5 million sales of The Circus already might put a stop to that...a good video could still give it some moderate success though VV Brown - Leave Another of 2009's tipped stars, VV Brown didn't make it far with the 'buzz single' Crying Blood, but the follow up Leave should be a much bigger success T.I. feat Justin Timberlake - Dead & Gone Justin Timberlake seems to be able to make any single into a success and T.I. is fresh from a No.2 single, Live Your Life...this one is incredibly infectious and should ease into the top ten in the coming weeks Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone Not for a while have we had a huge trance hit in the UK but Calvin Harris single-handedly aims to bring the sound back to the mainstream with the excellent club track I'm Not Alone, which should surely go top five and fingers crossed, re-ignite the genre into the UK charts, which I for one miss greatly Flo Rida feat Kesha - Right Round The man who gave us Low, Elevator and In The Ayer, his new single Right Round samples the Dead Or Alive classic You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) and this rap take on it has top 3 written all over it
January 24, 200916 yr Some pretty decent predictions there. But the only one I would disagree with is The Veronica's. I really can't see them having a Top 20 single let alone a Top 5 :( I guess we will wait and see... Also agree about the Comparisons you made with 'Poker Face'. It will definately do a 'Hot 'n' Cold'/'Don't Stop the Music' One of the artists best, but missing out on the Top spot, whilst having an incredible and steady chart run!
January 24, 200916 yr Author Some pretty decent predictions there. But the only one I would disagree with is The Veronica's. I really can't see them having a Top 20 single let alone a Top 5 :( I guess we will wait and see... I've got my fingers crossed that they do some decent promotion and pick up Radio 1 support and good TV airplay...with this, I don't see how they could fail with Untouched
January 24, 200916 yr Taylor Swift, will be this year's Sara Bareilles, one hit wonder and gone. Nice track, it probably get overplayed to death. Empire Of The Sun hoping big things for them, and probably will take Lily Allen on as the next #1. U2 is another possibility, love the track.
January 24, 200916 yr Of those lot, I'd predict: #01 Lily - The Fear #01 Kelly - My Life #03 Taylor - Love Story #06 Veronicas - Untouched #02 U2 - Boots #08 Daniel - Change #04 Alesha - Breathe Slow #02 GaGa - Poker Face #04 AARs - Give You Hell #05 Bey - Single Ladies #07 Shontelle - T-Shirt #03 TT - Up All Night #11 VV - Leave #02 TI/Justin - D&G #01 Calvin - I'm Not Alone #05 Flo - Right Round Flo won't ever be huge again I don't think, but a top 5 hit should be possible. VV's success will be more relative than outright. Bey won't climb much higher now but overall sales at the end of its run are bound to surpass 200k. Daniel's song isn't very good but will scrape top 10. Kelly will of course reach the top... In addition I'd add these to the list: #04 Beyonce - Halo #04 Britney - If U Seek Amy #05 Jazmine Sullivan - Dream Big #07 Metro Station - Shake It #05 N-Dubz - Strong Again #06 Saturdays - Work
January 24, 200916 yr I think that Pete Doherty's debut single could be a big hit and The Days will have a big hit with No Ties
January 24, 200916 yr Taylor Swift - Love Story [#1] Britney Spears - If U Seek Amy [#3] Beyonce - Halo [#1] Lily Allen - The Fear [#1] Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You [#1] Chris Cornell & Timbaland - Part of Me [#1] U2 - Get On Your Boots [#2] Lady GaGa - Poker Face [#1]
January 24, 200916 yr I think The Veronicas, Alesha Dixon and Kelly Clarkson are all guaranteed top 5s. 'Poker Face' is a likely #1, but won't peak any lower than top 3, certainly. Hopefully Taylor Swift does nothing.
January 24, 200916 yr Not too keen on Untouched (the song) so im hoping that asuming they have follow up's that Hook Me Up & This Love arent total bombs.
January 24, 200916 yr Author Not too keen on Untouched (the song) so im hoping that asuming they have follow up's that Hook Me Up & This Love arent total bombs. I have a dreaded feeling that they'd be a one hit wonder here actually like Rogue Traders
January 24, 200916 yr it would be such a shame. Aussie bands deserve so much more. I hope Nat Bass comes over here. Alive and Someday Soon could do quite well
January 24, 200916 yr and Jessica Mauboy  Well Burn did go to #1 so i think we have a better chance of Jessica coming over than Nat.
January 24, 200916 yr i aim to pick up quite a few albums very soon :smoke: 3weeks time i will be in Heathrow en-route to Aus :w00t:
January 24, 200916 yr Great to see the rejects in this and said to do well. I hope it turns true, Great song
January 24, 200916 yr Lily Allen - The Fear - #1 Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You - #11 (won't make Top 10, but will sell well) Taylor Swift - Love Story - #26 (2 weeks in Top 40) The Veronicas - Untouched - #14 (won't make Top 10, but will sell well) U2 - Get On Your Boots - #2 (will be a massive seller) Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream - #18 (haven't heard this but if like MGMT will just about make Top 20) Daniel Merriweather - Change - #29 (massively over hyped) Alesha Dixon - Breathe Slow - #3 (will be one of 2009's top 10 best selling single) Lady GaGa - Poker Face - #4 (will not get to #1 cause too many people will already have it) All American Rejects - Gives You Hell - #32 (also never heard this) Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) - #6 (almost already there) Beyonce - Halo - #4 (good but no too good) Shontelle - T-Shirt - #12 (very overrated) Take That - Up All Night - #2 (something will stop it from getting to #1) VV Brown - Leave - #12 (will be the defining moment of her career) T.I. feat Justin Timberlake - Dead & Gone - #8 (never heard but should do well) Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone - #14 (also never heard) Flo Rida feat Kesha - Right Round - #3 (same as above, but i will like it cause of the sampled song) The Saturdays - Work - #7 (will do well) Girls Aloud - 1st single off next album - #1 (will come back with an alright song but X-Factor will get it to #1) Sugababes - 1st single off next album - #1 (will be back with their biggest seller, hopefully) The Saturdays - 1st Single off next album - #2 (will be selling loads)
January 24, 200916 yr Author Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You - #11 (won't make Top 10, but will sell well) are you joking :o I've never heard a more guaranteed top ten hit in my life
January 24, 200916 yr are you joking :o I've never heard a more guaranteed top ten hit in my lifeI think it's EJ in disguise
January 24, 200916 yr hey, i may be a bit loony on the fact i love the babes way too much but I'm not EJ. It's just that i find the chorus really annoying, all these positions are based on how i like them, with a tiny bit of what everyone else thinks. I think it will defo be a 250k seller though.
