I've updated the first post. I'm sorry to those of you who dont like the theme :( I wasnt i control of the polls :P But tbh whilst i feel for those of you outside the UK i still dont think its such an impossible task.. besides, foreign language will be the next spinoff in may (?) anyway, and if this had been foreign that would have been UK #10s, so it's all relative...

 

The way i see it, the point of a spinoff is to divulge it away from normal BJSC, and therefore something like this is a great spinoff theme imo, if you look there are hundreds of great songs that stumbled at #10... so again, my apologies

In theory #10 songs are songs that caught the public eye but weren't good enough to do brilliantly :lol:, but the reality is much different.

Not at all. Maybe instrumentals should be included in that too? :w00t:

You can decide who should have it, i can always enter Smiley Faces instead, though that would be preferable. I was going to enter Black Eyed Peas- Lets Get It Started/Retarded, but that peaked at #11!!! Its a very famous song, isn't it?

 

For foreign language unless the obvious Shakira and JLo songs don't go i have to send Black Eyed Peas- Bebot :wub:, even if it will flop miserably.

was just coming on here to reserve Bowie - I-M-M-E-N-S-E!

I don't think Dalisska will be taking part after all, I really want to but I don't think I'll be able to find a #10 song that I like before the week is up(I'll keep trying but I don't really know), the theme of this spinoff is so ridiculously narrow, even if I do find a #10 chances are I won't like it.

 

When I saw this spinoff first I thought it was going to be uk songs in the top ten, not just 10! Because I never thought for a second there could ever be a spinoff so specific. :nocheer:

I had a brainwave this afternoon whlst at work surrounded by old people - This competition needn't be cheap as we can use ANY song that got to #10, not only the ones from the past couple of years which leads me to my second reservation:

And that is why this contest will be extraordinarily painful to listen to, bloody difficult to vote on and downright disappointing when the winner is announced. It's an oppertunity to enter songs you wouldn't possibly enter into the main contest though as the result doesn't matter one bit (esp. when I've already won two spin off contests :kink: )

The main BJSC is for introducing things IMO. The Spin:Offs are for entering things that wouldn't be allowed in the normal contest, or would usually be seen as Cheap or whatever.

 

Plus it's to get the number of BJSC down to 10 a year as well as just being a bit of fun! I really don't see the harm in this theme. just coz people have to do a bit of research! I've had to do research. Jester's had to do research, Gooddelta's had to do research! We've ALL had to do research. So stop moaning please. Although I personally didn't want "Foreign Languages" I would still try my best to find a decent enough song to enter, if I really want to.

 

If you're having trouble, people have said they'd help you, we've provided links, I'll be more than happy to help you out if you send me a list of artists you like or whatever. There have been suggestions throughout this thread too!

I don't know about discovering new music but I've definitely re-discovered some absolutely excellent music in the last 24 hours and for that I'm eternally grateful, because on this chartstats website, whilst looking for #10 singles, I've stumbled across a load of gems that stalled around but not at the #10 position :wub:

 

this is why the spin-offs in my opinion will be great, the BJSC is fantastic for finding new music, but the spin-offs will be great for different purposes altogether :D

I never said anything about research? I've had to do resarch to find my song and I never said that anyone else didn't do so. I really do not see the point in having a theme in which people already know most of the songs? And "so stop moaning please"; I don't see anywhere where I "moaned"? I was making a point. If you didn't rush in with your reply you may of actually read what I said.

Whilst i see where people are coming from slightly in the sense that they might not be able to have a song they want to enter as the theme restricts that, but surely thats the point of a spinoff? And therfore i agree with you... thanks :P

I saw this coming with the spin offs, that's why I couldn't be bothered, I didn't think anyone would take Kylie, since I'm a big fan of her, she was my obvious choice. :cry:

What about her sister? Dannii Minogue - This Is It was a #10.

 

Diana Ross and Lisa Stansfield each had three #10s if anyone is a fan of them. Mariah also peaked at #10 with "Thank God With You". I'd so send that if it wasn't one of her weakest songs imo.

 

I can see why people are finding it kinda hard to find these songs, I've been looking on polyhex for an alternative entry but I haven't come close to finding a song I like as much as "A&E". I figure that if I had a song I like as much I'd have found it by now, I've searched for all my other top artists with no luck. So I guess I'm confirming, sorry Trashlexis and therefore Martin. :(
