Over the past couple of weeks, barely a second has gone by without Lily Allen saying or doing something deliberately controversial and/or outrageous. She’s worn a horrible fur hat, she’s revealed that her dad used to use her to sell drugs, she’s slagged off Christianity, she’s talked about a lesbian encounter, she’s said that cocaine doesn’t do any harm, she’s talked about a secret trip to a “nuthouse”… yep, it’s safe to say that Lily’s left no stone unturned on her quest to hit the headlines several times a day as she promotes her comeback single The Fear. And it might annoy you to hear that it seems to have paid off – the track is soaring to the top of the charts. We’ve just had our first sneaky peek at the latest midweeks and, just 24 hours after going on sale, it’s already sold over 30,000 copies – not bad, considering there’s a recession on – and is currently way of Lady Gaga, who’s been shuftied down to number two. The only thing is, how’s Lily going to keep it up? She’s going to have to pull something seriously shocking out of the bag to top all those stories. How about a secret affair with Victoria Beckham? Or a lovechild with Mini-Me? Or maybe, after all these years, Lily will reveal that she was actually Jack The Ripper? Any other ideas?
