Posted January 27, 200917 yr Bruce Springsteen and Franz Ferdinand look set to land new entries at the top of the albums chart this Sunday, with Working On A Dream (Columbia) and Tonight (Domino) respectively. Last week’s number one, White Lies’ To Lose My Life (Fiction) should secure a second week in the top five, behind Kings Of Leon’s Only By The Night (Hand Me Down) and Lady Gaga’s The Fame (Interscope). The Rifles’ Great Escape (sixsevenine) should also secure a top twenty placing. On the singles chart, Lily Allen’s The Fear (Parlophone), currently A listed at Radios One and Two, is set to enter at number one, far outselling its nearest competitor, Lady Gaga’s Just Dance (Polydor). Tommy Reilly’s Gimme A Call (A&M) should also challenge for a top ten placing Source: MW (by Ben Cardrew) ====================================================== Over the past couple of weeks, barely a second has gone by without Lily Allen saying or doing something deliberately controversial and/or outrageous. She’s worn a horrible fur hat, she’s revealed that her dad used to use her to sell drugs, she’s slagged off Christianity, she’s talked about a lesbian encounter, she’s said that cocaine doesn’t do any harm, she’s talked about a secret trip to a “nuthouse”… yep, it’s safe to say that Lily’s left no stone unturned on her quest to hit the headlines several times a day as she promotes her comeback single The Fear. And it might annoy you to hear that it seems to have paid off – the track is soaring to the top of the charts. We’ve just had our first sneaky peek at the latest midweeks and, just 24 hours after going on sale, it’s already sold over 30,000 copies – not bad, considering there’s a recession on – and is currently way of Lady Gaga, who’s been shuftied down to number two. The only thing is, how’s Lily going to keep it up? She’s going to have to pull something seriously shocking out of the bag to top all those stories. How about a secret affair with Victoria Beckham? Or a lovechild with Mini-Me? Or maybe, after all these years, Lily will reveal that she was actually Jack The Ripper? Any other ideas? January 27, 200917 yr fingers crossed that Lily is counted and at No.1, GaGa has had her time, although to be fair I'm slightly bored of The Fear, Just Dance and Day 'N' Nite...I should stop overplaying music so far in advance! and here's hoping that Tommy Reilly makes no impression on the top ten!
January 27, 200917 yr I think Lily is popular enough that even if iTunes is not counted, she will still be top 3. Personally I'd like Gaga to hang on but it's probably wishful thinking. Also would like to see Alesha top 10, Jason Mraz top 20 and GA still top 20.
January 27, 200917 yr Author and here's hoping that Tommy Reilly makes no impression on the top ten! Heard it for the first time last night, its utter $hite, the most boring thing to come out in history, its enough to commit suicide :(
January 27, 200917 yr I'm hoping The Fear will be #1! I love it! As much as I adore Lady Gaga I think she has had her #1 shot, now it's time for Lily! :)
January 27, 200917 yr Although Lily deserves #1 - i think iTunes has too much power, and if shes not being counted, then she will struggle to get #1. 01 Lady Gaga 02 Kid Cudi 03 Taio Cruz 04 Lily Allen 05 Kevin Rudolf
January 27, 200917 yr [*]Will Lily Allen take the top spot from Lady GaGa, or will the GaGa spent a whole month at #1 considering her sales were pretty high for last week its going to be close to call Provided all those iTunes sales are eligible *this time*, Lily should be #1 easily. [*]In the albums White Lies face competition from Franz Ferdinand, got a funny feeling White Lies will remain at #1, FF might have to settle for the runner up position at #2, other possible new releases this week from John Frusciante, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Turner and The Rifles You gotta be kidding - The Boss will make mincemeat of all competition!
January 27, 200917 yr Keen to see GaGa hang on as much as I love Lily and The Fear... Is it definite Lilys itunes wont be counted or are people just waiting for todays figures to be sure? Hope The Saturdays hang on with Issues and also keep top 10 with album! :D
January 27, 200917 yr I actually think that if Lily's iTunes sales aren't counted she'll be far lower...let's say 1,000-2,000 physical sales tops + 4-5,000 max from other sites, could put her as low as No.10
January 27, 200917 yr here's hoping for Lily. I first heard The Fear well into last year, amazing that it could finally get the place it deserves. iTunes sales had better count
January 27, 200917 yr So iTunes sales are counted for this? Holy cow for White Lies. Down 4... :( Bruce and Franz :yahoo:
