I hope 'Halo' is a big hit! It is incredible. Best thing Beyonce has ever done and that's saying something!

Who keeps doing all these tacky instrumentals and covers of big songs that seem to pop up every now and again? Ripoff much?

And I'm shocked The Days are nowhere. I was expecting a big clearout this week from Empire Of The Sun, Rudenko, Gary Go and U2 and they're not exactly setting the chart on fire so far...

Is it well known that Amazon's MP3 store doesn't count towards the chart?

No.

Surprised how many people like this Gary Go song, dont get me wrong I think it is a nice track, but I dont see anything special to it at all.

I reckon come the sunday official chart they will all reach the top 15 even top 10!

I don’t see that being a factor for the vast majority of the downloading population though. ;)

Besides if people were prepared to buy a fake cover version of Love Story on iTunes I can’t see them waiting if they can download their favourite song elsewhere.

But it is for fanbases.

For example it is a very common practise for artist websites to tell fans of the said artist where to & where not to buy the track digitally for it to count towards the chart.

Oh it's just because the song is...

wait for it...

WONDERFUL.

SOME fan bases, predominantly those with a teenage following like McFly, who care where their singles end up.

I can’t see many Prodigy fans feverishly checking whether or not their purchase of Omen will count towards the chart, or for that matter even legally downloading it. :rofl:

Likewise given that U2 have been going for nigh on 30 years, I can’t see many of their older fans feverishly downloading specifically from chart reporting sites or following artist’s forums. The first they’ll know about it is from a TV performance or seeing U2’s new album in a shop.

I suspect a rather larger proportion of the public buys a diverse range of music they like, primarily buying into tracks not artists. Not everyone is obsessively lapping up every release from a select few American female artists at the behest of a website. ;)

Is it me or is Empire of the Sun's 'Walking On a Dream' free? It is on mine anyway.

Walking On A Dream - Single Of The Week :o

:o Wow, never saw that instrumental of Kelly's MLWSWY, her and Taylor are looking certain for no. 1's at this rate! :w00t:

It's not on mine :( My front page is still the same as last week :( With Sky Larkin as the freebie :(

Ditto, Sky Larkin is my freebie also.

You are either a wind up merchant or a complete numpty.

Firstly, the Prodigy released The Omen exclusively on downloads only to iTunes last week; whilst if you were a member of their official website you'd have received an official e-mail on the Monday telling you that the track was available to buy to download. Likewise in their forum there is a thread telling you where to & where not to buy the single with regards counting towards the chart.

As for U2 :rolleyes: ..... Being a big fan of this act having seen them live on 3 different tours I was looking forward to this new single. One of the first things I did when I got access to the internet was sign up to their website for updates; as doubtless hundred of thousands other U2 fans have in the UK who are probably also 30+.

Anyway, to further empathise your daftness here are a few U2 chart runs from Polyhex:

Discotheque 1 {1}-6-15-28-39-51-62-66-71-72R(5)-75->11

Staring At The Sun 3 {3}-17-34-41-60-74->6

Last Night On Earth 10 {10}-29-43-69-68R(2)->5

Please 7 {7}-26-47-72->4

Sweetest Thing 3 {3}-4-10-18-31-38-44-60-59-55-70-71-72->13

Beautiful Day 1 {1}-3-14-25-38-44-50-62-65-74-73-58-43-52-58-73->16

Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of 2 {2}-10-25-40-37-39-43-67->8

Elevation 3 {3}-13-24-35-41-48-53-60->8

Walk On 5 {5}-27-52-68-70-68-58-64->8

Vertigo 1 {1}-7-13-22-22-23-24-27-30-43-53-65-71R(23)->13

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own 1 {1}-7-18-27-35-39-56-60-60R(2)->9

City Of Blinding Lights 2 {2}-13-30-43-37-56-56-57-56->9

All Because Of You 4 {4}-19-49-74->4

Window In The Skies 4 {4}-14-34-61->4

Or do you think when U2 announce their tour dates; they don't sell out in minutes because their fanbase has not got round to hearing about it? Or the week of new album release U2 don't gain their peak sales? :rofl:

If anything fans of indie/alternative/rock bands are much more obsessive (all at least they were when you could buy a physical single in all towns in the country) about maximising their chart potential than boy or girl pop acts. That is why for example the average Morrissey single peaks then drops faster than the average Girls Aloud single.

:o Walking On A Dream is free! How can I see the free track(s) every week on i-tunes?

Yes I now see it as "Single of the Week"

I guess it's not Chart Eligable then :unsure:

Oh and Britney hasn't got an advert on the front page for her release week :drama: Which I'm quite annoyed about TBH -_- :(

:o I was hoping Empire of The Sun could make the top 30 :( What's worse is I bought it before it was free :P And I was gonna buy their album off of amazon too :P. Poor Taylor, still not added...
