#1 written all over it.

Whilst I love the song, I would definitely say it's 'MARS' for the mainstream audience. It reminds me of Mars so much.

FOOK. Completely forgot to listen. Guess I could 'listen back' or whatever it's called. No doubt it'll be uploaded somewhere soon anyway I suppose.

So much better than I'd even imagined

This will be HUGE

Indie/Rock/Alternative = Dizzee Rascal???

Ummm dance/©rap/pop maybe...generally musically/lyrically inept.

Disclaimer...that isn't to say that I think rap = crap ... there is an abundance of decent rap music available ... I'm referring to Dizzee's material to date.

Edit: Having heard it, I think it's OK, nothing great though, I don't get all the hype over it at all.

Is it really released in June? Because it was played on R1 today. Even on a bus on FM radio, twas amazing.
wtf is this doing here?!?

I guess some people are referring to it as "alternative"...maybe, I dunno...

I was reading the CoolClarity thread in The Lounge earlier and reminiscing over the time that I stood-in and compiled the Indie/Rock/Alternative chart there, a number of people were charting Jamiroquai. It's one of those subjective things, I suppose.

Personally, I wouldn't (as is evident of my earlier post in this thread!). Might be interesting to "sound out" why people think it fits here?

This well and truly is 'Bonkers' It's... weird...

I'm not sure if I like it or not...

Hmmm...

I see no reason why it shouldn't be here, really.

Dizzee's always been more alternative to other similar artists and this new direction could certainly be considered alternative (?)

I can move it if people think it suits dance/ rap more, but at this moment I think this is the correct place for it.

Tbh i think it fits in Hip Hop, even 'Alternative' Hip Hop should go in the forum imo.

We have two threads. One in Hip-Hop one here. Which is more successful? That's the best judge of where something should be imo. It's all good and well putting a thread somewhere based on technicality but what's the point if it garners no proper responses?

I think sometimes "scene" has to be considered. Particularly somewhere like BJ where no alternative forms of Dance or Hip-Hop and RnB are particularly explored. I think it makes the "alternative" in Indie and Alternative a genre within itself but also an umbrella for alternative Pop, Hip-Hop and Dance. If it isn't then it doesn't really get discussed and ends up shunned?

Not really. The only reason I'm replying to this thread about it is that I next-to-never visit the Hip Hop/RnB forum (or whatever it's called). It's grown on me slightly, but I still don't think it's that good.

Which is essentially what I'm saying  No point posting a thread somewhere on a technicality if it'd garner more responses elsewhere...

OFFICIAL VIDEO:

Good video, even if slightly "Bonkers" as the title suggests :P

ADORE. The song is fantastic. The video is weird though :heehee:

This song is in my head for already 3 days. I can't get it out of it. :(

This just sounds like noise to me. I've never understood the appeal of Dizzee Rascal. I think this rips off Middleman a bit as well.
