I'll only be doing from since when I joined BJ, or I'll be here a long time

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream (no.6) - Don't know how it got that high, it's an average pop song with nothing special about it. Plus Firework is a much better song and I charted it at no.13.

Jazzbit - Sing sing sing (Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup remix) (no.7) - I just heard it and thought, new We No Speak Americano this is amazing, however it dropped off my chart like a stone and don't like it much anymore.

Lil Wayne feat. Drake - Right Above It (no.9) - Really liked this at first listen, but it's not really top 10 material and Lil Wayne does rap annoyingly.

The Wanted - Heart Vacancy (no.13) - I hate boyband music, I can't believe it got this high, higher than ATL which is an OK song.

Cher Lloyd - Just Be Good to Me (no.15) - After a few weeks I decided to make X Factor songs ineligible, except the Charity single and When We Collide. This isn't a great cover I just liked Cher at the time, I don't much anymore.

Pitbull feat. T-Pain - Hey Baby (no.12) - Pitbull is awful and T-Pain is the only OK part of the song. Shouldn't of charted.

Joe McElderry - Ambitions (no.27) - His comeback was awful and I should of left this song out so he could be a One Hit Wonder.

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair (no.1) - Most annoying thing is that Rihanna was number two on the day this topped the chart. I was really into the song that week but now I hate it, Only Girl should of been a no.1 for Ri.

Ke$ha - We R Who We R (no.5) - I've never really liked Ke$ha and her annoying autotuned voice. How this got top 5 I do not know.

Trey Songz feat. Nicki Minaj - Bottoms Up (no.22) - Awful US song and I'm happy that it never charted here. Trey Songz is trying hard to be Jason Derulo.

Brett Domino - Gillian McKeith (no.5) - It was good as a joke song for I'm A Celeberity but only spent 2 weeks in the top 50 so should never of been that high.

James Blake - Limit to Your Love (no.16) - He has an OK voice but the song isn't too good.

The Saturdays - If This Is Love is technically the most successful Saturdays' single on my chart with 4 weeks at #1, and the longest stretch of time in the Top 20 (18 weeks). It's only about my 6th or 7th favourite out of their 9 releases, but my chart would suggest otherwise.

I think my strangest #1 is Sunblock - I'll Be Ready! At the time it was the first song on my chart to enter straight in at #1 too! I like it, but #1?

Nadine - Insatiable got to #2 with me (entered straight in at #2). I think the excitement of Nadine having a solo single initially covered up the fact that I didn't really like the song THAT much.

Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) - only #3! One of my favourite 2008/9 songs, and spent over 40 weeks in my Top 40. Surprised I didn't consider it as my favourite song in any week back when it was a new release.

I'm sure there's more but these four sprung to mind.

Alanis Morissette - Underneath

Got to #1 the same week that Brandon Flowers released Flamingo and I really don't think it deserved it  #2 would have been better.

Mine just has to be Nadine Coyle - Insatiable! It entered straight at number 1 (dunno how?) but fell quickly and it hasn't made my Year-End top 125 :o Now I just find it so boring - I even skip it most times when I listen to the album :o Also, Tinie Tempah - Pass Out only reached 20 in my chart but is in my top 50 of the year! Special mention to Duffy's Well Well Well, which had a week in my chart at 28 :o desptie the fact I now think that it quite literally reaches $h!tness of the level of Bieber! I think it was just "AAAHHH! NEW SONG BY DUFFY *dies*" that got it there! I've only listened to it 6 times, and 4 of those were the week it charted. The next listen, I was like: "God... This is crap actually, why the hell did I chart this???" and the listen after that I was like: "God, my ears! This is bloody awful!" and avoided it at all costs

I tend to put songs that really deserve it at #1, or anywhere for that matter, even if I don't really like the track as much now. Of course sometimes a song over/underperforms due to significant or a lack of competition. Underachievers generally last longer anyway as a result.

Anyway. Here are a few tracks which I like and even love, but stand out as not being quite good enough in hindsight to be #1.

2006

06. GOLDFRAPP / RIDE A WHITE HORSE (Probably the only track I've ever made #1 that was a big mistake. Went 1-4-4-18-23-39 in my chart. Ironically I like it a lot now)

16. FALL OUT BOY / DANCE, DANCE (Inferior to four other FOB songs which didn't make #1. This Ain't A Scene... did however, and was my deserved #1 of 2007)

2007

02. THE AUTOMATIC / RAOUL (New version, and re-released, thus re-entered. Monster also got #1, but definitely deserved it)

08. TAKE THAT / SHINE

09. TAKE THAT / SHINE (Two weeks on top!)

2008

22. THE TING TINGS / THAT'S NOT MY NAME

23. THE TING TINGS / THAT'S NOT MY NAME (Good song, definitely on top by default though)

43. JACK WHITE & ALICIA KEYS / ANOTHER WAY TO DIE (Bond mania)

2009

01. JAMES MORRISON feat. NELLY FURTADO / BROKEN STRINGS (Good song, not #1 worthy though. Went on top inbetween 6 weeks of Gaga during a quiet week)

05. TINCHY STRYDER feat. TAIO CRUZ / TAKE ME BACK

06. TINCHY STRYDER feat. TAIO CRUZ / TAKE ME BACK (Loved it at the time, and like it now. But #1? Plus it knocked Poker Face off the top, and is inferior to Number 1 and You're Not Alone, both of which never made it)

10. KELLY CLARKSON / MY LIFE WOULD SUCK WITHOUT YOU (Quiet week again)

2010

35. ROLL DEEP / GREEN LIGHT (I'll probably regret this in a year's time. Enjoyable, but inferior to Good Times which only made #6!)

My current #1 is BLACK EYED PEAS / THE TIME (DIRTY BIT). I have no doubt i'll regret this in years to come, especially as I Gotta Feeling never made it, but for right now it's great.

These are the songs that scored less than 50 points (Silver certification) on my chart that shoulda been bigger hits:

Run - Leona Lewis (16-18/8 Points/32,000 Sales) If this was released now this would be a massive no.1!

We Break The Dawn - Michelle Willams (12-14-16-18/24 Points/96,000 Sales) Shoulda been a Top 5 hit

Hate That I Love You - Rihanna feat. Ne-Yo (9-7-10/37 Points/148,000 Sales) My chart was only Top 10 at the time but shoulda been a bigger hit

Paper Planes - M.I.A (6-8-10-14-19/48 Points/192,000 Sales) Shoulda been a bigger hit

These are the songs that shoulda been less successful:

Echo - Girls Can't Catch (12-8-12-15-17/41 Points/164,000 Sales) Shouldn't have even charted this crap

Beautiful Girls - Sean Kingston (3-2-2-3-3-6-8-10/131 Points/524,000 Sales) :gold: My chart was only Top 10 at the time. If this was released today it probably wouldn't even chart, maybe low Top 20. This is my biggest ever chart regret.

Oh and another one....

Freemasons feat. Katherime Ellis - When You Touch Me (1-3-4-7-12-17-20/83 Points/332,000 Sales) :silver: I liked it at the time, but doesn't deserve no.1 status. It kept Chris Browns' "Forever" off the top spot which is definitely a shoulda been no.1 gaining Platinum status having scored 186 points (744,000 Sales)

The Pierces - You'll Be Mine - #19 peak

The only song currently in my YTD top 100 not to reach my top ten at any time...shame :(

  • 4 weeks later...

I don't regret these #1's but they hit it because a) it was quiet week, b) there wasn't much of a competition or c) I had enough of the previous #1. If wasn't for any of those three reasons, they probably wouldn't hit the topspot.

Lightning Seeds - Life's too short

Craig David - 7 days (not as strong as 'Fill me in')

Moby - We're all made of stars

Laura Pausini - Surrender

Nelly Furtado - Powerless (Say what you want)

Kevin Lyttle - Turn me on

O-Zone - Dragostea din tei

Eminem - Mockingbird

Jo O'Meara - What hurts the most

Pussycat Dolls - Stickwitu

P. Diddy & Nicole Scherzinger - Come to me

Madonna - Jump

Girls Aloud - Something kinda ooh

Eric Prydz & Floyd - Proper education

Ne-Yo - Closer

The Verve - Love is noise

Vita Chambers - Young money
