Posted April 24, 200916 yr So some friend and I were at the cinema the other day seeing 17 Again (sigh, I know.) and as usual we talked to each other throughout the adverts and after some of the trailers, discussing whether we'd like to go see them, what we thought of the trailer etc ... but some maaaardy woman on the row in front of us kept turning round and giving us disapproving looks and telling her friend louder than was necessary (ironically) that she hated when people talked 'during the movie'. I would point out, once the actual movie started, we didn't say anything. So I ask you - is trailer chat appropriate? Does it irritate you when people talk during the Pepsi adverts at the start? Is it okay to discuss the trailers as they're on screen?
April 24, 200916 yr Of course it is. I would be bored to death if everytime I went to see a movie I wasn't allowed to talk during the trailers. But talking when the move is on is a no-no.
April 24, 200916 yr i whisper to my mates during trailers, obviously talking through the movie is inappropiate, but trailer talk, nothing wrong with it, if someone was talking unessarcarily loud, then their a bit twattish, but its not that bad tbh.
April 24, 200916 yr Its only the f***ing adverts god them bits p*** me right off talk as much as you like thru them lol
April 24, 200916 yr Uhh...I hate when people get in a mood when you're talking through trailers. There's nothing wrong with talking through trailers, unless you came to the cinemas to watch the trailers.
April 24, 200916 yr I dont mind talking through adverts but during the trailers im usually all hush hush to see what i want to see and what not.
April 24, 200916 yr My best mate and i tend to give each trailer a quick wee rate after it's over and just before the next one begins. The usual, that looks $h!t or the 'we HAVE to see that' I miss goin to movies with her :(
April 24, 200916 yr during ads is okay not the film when my friends and i went to see get smart, we has a couple chatting and laughing all the time so annoying
April 24, 200916 yr Talking at a reasonable level is fine during ads and in between trailers. I don't understand people who think otherwise :\
April 24, 200916 yr Me and my mates usually talk in between trailers, basically just saying our opinions on how good we think the movie would be (similar to what Phil said). Some trailers are boring as fukk though, I really don't see any reason why you shouldn't be allowed to talk during them!
April 24, 200916 yr Talking during trailers and adverts is fine, everyone does it, during the movie I keep mum.
April 24, 200916 yr Talking (quietly) I can tolerate. What I cannot abide is people going to see a film and then talking loudly - and not even about the film! Loved it in a cinema in Wigan a year or so ago. Some kids (teens or something) at the back were laughing and joking and generally spoiling people's enjoyment of the film. All of us wimps just sat there and muttered but then this bloke from a few seats in front of me and my kid got up, walked calmly to this gang of idiots and said something like 'I work here ... but this is my day off and I'm taking my kids to see a film. Now if you don't shut the f&ck up - I'll tear your frigging heads off'. Well he got my vote for the hero of the day! Norma
April 25, 200916 yr Talking during trailers and adveets is not a problem at all to me but chavs talking during movies is the main reason that I download as opposed to go and see although there are other reasons such as comfort If I was to go to see movies again I would only watch R rated and independent/arthouse films as they are not the sort that chavs would bother with Without being sexist 90% of the talking I have experienced in movies and giggling has come from chavvy teenage girls Edited April 25, 200916 yr by B.A Baracus
April 25, 200916 yr If I was to go to see movies again I would only watch R rated and independent/arthouse films as they are not the sort that chavs would bother with "R rated"... Craig, WTF are you on about....? You're NOT American the last time I checked, you're a bloody Londoner like me.....  You meant to say "18" yeah....? I should point out, that kids in US can actually get into R-rated films if they're accompanied by an adult, so if you're gonna use American equivalents, then you should say "NC 17"...... ;) Anyway, talking, or making noise, or using mobile phones during the film - DEATH PENALTY offence as far as I'm concerned.....  Trailers/ads, fine, but SHUT THE FUKK UP when the film's on.....
April 25, 200916 yr "R rated"... Craig, WTF are you on about....? You're NOT American the last time I checked, you're a bloody Londoner like me.....  You meant to say "18" yeah....? LOL   Shows how much I download or buy R1 DVD's as I just have American ratings in my head lol Agree totally with the end bit
April 25, 200916 yr Agree totally with the end bit I agree with what the late, great Bill Hicks had to say.... "You want a miracle....? Raising a kid who doesn't talk in a movie theatre, there's your fukkin' miracle.....?
April 25, 200916 yr I might be a child (?), but it's my mum who talks in films, it's really embarrassing . Fortunately i don't go to the cinema with my mum much anymore
April 28, 200916 yr I always talk through the trailers, you need something to make it a little bit more enjoyable because most adverts/trailers are really boring, especially at my cinema because it seems to be overrun with lame adverts and then you only get one trailer before the movie. I occassionally talk through the movie, but only make odd comments about certain things that happen, and thats only when the cinema is pretty dead. I hate it when you go and see a movie with a friend and they do a running commentary throughout the whole movie!
