I have a strong feeling that Girl's Aloud's top10 run of singles will end this sunday.

Did you actually look through Wikipedia before posting this. If so, you'd have seen this. Which lists "St Trinians" has a chart entry.

And did you read my post before replying?

It's listed under other charted songs. It's not listed with their actual singles. Also if you go to the Sound of the Underground page and click along through their releases, you will not see it.

Hasn't this been solved already anyway? It gets stated then people continue to argue for both sides throwing back the exact same arguments in about 5 different posts. Get over it. Instead of doing this, I will just refer you back to my original reply - the last section.

If this song would never have been allowed to chart, why did they pull all the tracks from st trinians being downloaded on their own? <_< If it was never going to be classed as a single, it wouldnt need to be removed would it?

The singles chart these days is not about physical releases and things, its about popular songs. Album tracks can count in the chart, why shouldnt they? If people are buying a track on its own, it should get its merit with its own chart position.

Its like when lady gaga was releasing poker face this year and it went to number 1 from album downloads only. Say if she suddenly decided that she didnt want to release it as a single anymore and stopped the release. Does that mean it wouldnt be number 1 anymore?

how boring/unnecessary conversation

the media and the general public accept 20 top 10 consecutive run. End Of.

LOL I could've said that by myself but that will be a bit arrogant to say that. :(

As St. Trinians Theme wasn't an official single, this means it wasn't part of their Top 10 strike.

People who say it is, does that mean any album tracks are singles? NO :)

If the OCC entered it onto the Official Singles Chart, they must have had cause to consider it a single - and that's where the problem occurs. If it wasn't a single, it should not have been included in the Official Singles Chart.

Either the OCC need to rename the Official Singles Chart or stop non-singles from entering it. They seem to have created a contradiction...as gooddelta said...

this blurry line between singles and album tracks defining what is a hit really needs to be cleared up by the people who compile these records

You can sure as hell bet that if Girls Aloud's weeks on the Official Singles Chart tally ends at something akin to 500weeks, the fans will gladly include the weeks for St Trinian's to meet that landmark, yet the majority steadfastly deny it's peak position

No one has said that album tracks don't or shouldn't count towards the chart, your points keep confusing me as to what you are trying to say.

I think this topic needs to be closed as nothing will ever be settled, so whats the point.

 If an album track counts towards the singles chart and st trinians was an album track, then its officially classed as a single.

Its really not that difficult is it?

Album tracks are now classed as being singles when they enter the singles chart. Thats what the OCC is, an official singles chart.

I love Girls Aloud but hate their fanbase so on that reason alone i hope that 'Untouchable' peaks at #11 and puts an end to all this boring 'How many consecutive Top 10 hits' have they had debate! Its boring beyond belief and its difficult to escape as it seems to be discussed in most threads regardless of how off topic it is!

Anyway im off to use some of my free I-Tunes download codes to download the 10 tracks that are above GA so far in the mids

Does "Theme to St. Trinian" count towards Girls Aloud's official single release or not? If not, having over 20 consecutive Top 10 hits is really good.

It counts as it made the official singles chart - If their record company had of wished to keep the girls run of Top 10 singles intact they could have requested that it was omitted from the singles chart.

Just as the fans would have happily included St Trinians in the girls chart run had it made the Top 10.....

Your using up your free codes just for that? Now that really is sad.

Shall we all post the same thing again?
This surely needs putting an end to now.

St Trinians charted at 51 was it? in the uk singles chart. Thats singles chart. Just because it wasnt released on cd means nothing, album songs are allowed to chart.

Untouchable was number 28 last week, that is 28 from album downloads. So what are people saying? Chart runs dont count until the cd is released?

The top ten run ended with St Trinians, its a top 75 hit single - end of.

Well not really babe as TtST wasn't an official release was it? x

I think those that have given their opinion already a couple of times should hold back a bit and allow others to give their point of view on this grey area ;)

I agree it wasn't a single, but at the end of the day it charted - to me that ended their run of Top 10 hits. I can see the GA fan viewpoint, but at the end of the day it charted, single or not :D

- They had 20 consecutive Top 10 SINGLES

- They had 17 consecutive Top 10 chart entries

That.

Anyway im off to use some of my free I-Tunes download codes to download the 10 tracks that are above GA so far in the mids

Where do you get free iTunes codes from? :o
