May 17, 200916 yr In 2002 It was not Chiara but Ira Losco... stupid moron! I didn't watch '98 or '02 but I'm guessing he's saying the song was similar to them and you need something different to do well, not always send the same rubbish. Which it definitely was!
May 17, 200916 yr If she's the best you have then you won't win because your $h!te, not because you have no neighbours. Look at Iceland, Norway and the UK are it's closest neighbours and they are quite a distance away, and they came second. So you can shove your bullcrap about neighbourly/political voting up Chiara's arse. Good thing there's a lot of room
May 17, 200916 yr In 2002 It was not Chiara but Ira Losco... stupid moron! And anyways, how can we win when we had to win 2 times and due to unfairness we did not! We do not have any chance due to Neighbours and diaspora! And except for Chiara, we have noone good that tries to enter ESC ... I was refering to the Chiara songs, I do know well who entered in 2002  and the stupid moron was you my friend expecting that this year this dull song will do GREAT

I don't know if you noticed, but Iceland are pretty short of neighbours and a diaspora but managed to overcome it with an amazing song and finish 2nd ;) Deal with it, What If We was dull compared to Chiara's other efforts...

What If We was dull compared to everyone's efforts. Is It True also had that performance  Plus Norway doesn't exactly have many neighbours, given that EVERY country gave it something, this voting fix crap really is pathetic
May 17, 200916 yr Well, as I was out watching this with my mate last night, I can give my thoughts: Graham Norton was great - he was interested and was only sarky when it deserved it. Way better than Wogan! Jade did well, although I had a good ROFFLE at the violin hitting her! Norway and Iceland were brilliant and I was very pleased the best two songs on the night were top 2. 5th is amazing for the UK and my faith in Eurovision is restored properly. La Voix for Sweden was not that good on the night, which was a shame as it was a great song. In summary, the best Eurovision since the 90s for me!
May 17, 200916 yr Author Oh yes, Norton was fabulous! I loved the 'she never met a Malteaser she didn't like' comment!

May 17, 200916 yr Graham Norton was far better than Wogan... even if watching the contest made me realise he must have an IQ of far lower than 80! He was actually "doing his sums" to try and work out if Estonia could overcome a 54 point gap to overtake us on the final vote! Haha! I must say though he did a great job, and he seemed genuinly interested and excited about the voting - just like Wogan in the 1997 competition - and so I reckon he'll be commentating for a good few years yet! :D I also hope we continue to put in as much effort as this year, maybe it'll pay off in a few years. Also, just think, had Norway not been in it this year for whatever reason, how close and exciting would the voting have been?! Iceland, Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom and Turkey would have been even closer to each other in my opinion, and we would've had some real nailbiting results!

Two islands in the top 5 slightly disproves what the person who thinks Malta should've come top 10 was saying. IMO the voting was just about right last night, if the whole "general public like to vote for a country just cos it's next door" was true then Russia would've won 10 times already. Not everybody can do well ;) Malta sent a forgettable song and was drowned out by Jade and Yohanna.

May 17, 200916 yr Can we expect to see Fairytale atop your chart this evening? ;o Not atop, but top 10, along with Iceland
May 17, 200916 yr I can't find anywhere relevant to post this, but I wanted to :teresa: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/05/17/article-1183528-04F7B40C000005DC-388_468x675.jpg :kink:
May 17, 200916 yr Last night's scoreboard was excellent as well wasn't it? In fact, all the graphics and everything were great last night. http://www.myledbury.co.uk/eurovision/image/scorechart2009.jpg Much better than last year's graphics imo, which looked slightly 90s at times, and I'd say the scoreboard was better than last year's too, and certainly better than the miniscule 2007 one in Finland...
May 17, 200916 yr I actually laughed very much at most of these points! Celine Dion wannabe?! I think first you need to find who is the wannabe of whom ;p She like is though? And Celine has sold like $h!t loads more records than her. Portuguese song was gay! It was though! Like all her blokes mincing around her! Armenia - gothic  They just looked like goths! Now, granted my knowledge of European culture, music etc is rather limited, but I was just throwing in my view. I'm glad I kept you entertained, Pavel :D x

He was actually "doing his sums" to try and work out if Estonia could overcome a 54 point gap to overtake us on the final vote! He wasn't alone! Marty Whelan on RTE announced that one country was about to get 12 points from its neighbour when they had already been given 2 or 3.

Which it definitely was! In 2002 we did not win for 12 points (if i remember well) and we didn't have crap (though the winners (Latvia) had) And in 1998 Chiara was still fresh cos it was her first time. If she's the best you have then you won't win because your $h!te, not because you have no neighbours. Look at Iceland, Norway and the UK are it's closest neighbours and they are quite a distance away, and they came second. So you can shove your bullcrap about neighbourly/political voting up Chiara's arse. Good thing there's a lot of room I know she wasn't the best (obv) but she deserved at least 5 places higher. And to that someone that said that Russia would have won 10 times because of neighbours i was talking about : 1 Russia 1353 (1 Win) 2 Greece 1286 (1 Win) 3 Turkey 1152 (1 Win) 4 Ukraine 1026 (1 Win) 5 Norway 916 (1 Win) 6 Sweden 868 7 Bosnia and Herzegovina 810 8 Romania 686 9 Denmark 664 (1 Win) 10 Latvia 653 (1 Win) 11 Malta 563 12 Armenia 558 13 Estonia 550 (1 Win) 14 Spain 510 15 France 499 16 Croatia 496 17 Germany 463 18 United Kingdom 445 19 Finland 444 (1 Win) 20 Serbia 428 (1 Win) 21 Iceland 427 22 Israel 421 23 Serbia and Montenegro 400 24 Moldova 348 25 Azerbaijan 339 here's the top 25 of the decade (posted earlier from someone else) Why do u think the first is russia? russia shouldn't have gotten that high place! ?Though neighbours gave it some votes (few 12s but more 8s and more like that )
May 17, 200916 yr 8 of the top 10 in the final came from semi final 2 which is good I watched the bbc edit of eurovision and graham norton was great and i think he was miles better than Terry Wogan Graham had some great lines and was very funny in places and very enjoyable im delighted he took over from terry now
