May 30, 200916 yr Cameron, and in the past few weeks more than ever, simply declares what the public wants to hear at that exact time. It's a different matter entirely when he's in power (which I think we all agree is an inevitability) and his statements actually have some weight. It's pure New Labour pre 1997 and it'll come unstuck when, to use a crude phrase, his arse can't cash the cheque his mouth writes. SPOT ON... He's just another empty suit of bugger all like B-liar was.... But, as we all know, the sheep-like electorate out there are just a sucker for a pretty face in a nice, shiny suit spouting a load of spin aren't they.... ? You would think that the British electorate may have learned by now, but naaaaah, most people are just utterly stupid and will believe whatever sh"t the Mail/Sun/Express/Star/Telegraph/Times/Mirror (delete as appropriate) tells them..... If more people read stuff like Private Eye or New Statesman they'd come to realise that ALL Govts are liars and crooks and they might just push for a real sea change in this country rather than just replacing one suit with another..... "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"...... As Mick Jagger once said.....

As for your main points, it really is exasperating to see someone so like Blair being given such an easy ride.

Ah, bugger, wtf made me think it was Jagger.....? Yep, it sure is exasperating... Cameron is so much like Blair it's not even funny... Seriously, do they just clone these people somewhere....? People wonder why the likes of the BNP are beginning to gain ground, well, it's obvious to me, it's because Labour and Tory are so much alike these days....
May 31, 200916 yr or because they've done such a $h!te job with our country people are looking elsewhere and they are overlooking genuine parties like the Lib Dems or god love em the Greens. They appeal to the torry voters who don't like cameron and think there are to many 'foreigners' in the uk
May 31, 200916 yr They appeal to the torry voters who don't like cameron and think there are to many 'foreigners' in the uk  It's not strictly true that they're just appealing to tory voters... They're targeting depressed working class areas, which would've been natural Labour country a decade or so back... But, not anymore because the working classes are increasingly disillusioned with Labour... Or should I say, Nu Labor....?
June 3, 200916 yr as members of the cabinet are resigning/not up for re-election, browns hold on power does now seem to be slipping away from him. i must admit, im not so sure now that the tories wont win the election, labour are floundering when i expected a resurgance.
June 3, 200916 yr I'd expect there to be questions from the Opposition about why the government have failed to stimulate the economy in the wake of K Rudd's stimulous packages saving the country from entering a recession. Maybe relegating Aus to tier 2 in the last G20 summit wasn't such a clever idea.

Maybe relegating Aus to tier 2 in the last G20 summit wasn't such a clever idea. I don't know a ton about Rudd's stimulus programme, but doing it here would presumably have involved a LOT of extra public spending, which Brown/Darling would've found hard to justify given the unprecedented level of debt we're already in. Plus, we really did have to co-ordinate our response with the other major European countries, and France and Germany were already unhappy about the levels of spending.
June 3, 200916 yr Anyway, surely it's now a matter of when, not if, Brown goes. The government is falling apart.

Rudd didn't have banks to bail out tho. Which is a plus. They've invested in public infrastructure and the likes to provide jobs, and the 2 A$900 stimulus payments have very much helped too. I agree, Brown is gone, not very much could save him if anything.
June 3, 200916 yr With the country in the grips of the worst recession for decades, how can it be in the best interests for the country for the current government to keep imploding? Impotent from the expenses scandal and leadership plots. We need a government that gets to grips with the current economic problems and their causes, even if it’s conservative. It’s time for an election.
June 3, 200916 yr I'd vote Conservative ... if I was extremely wealthy! As I'm not, and am never likely to ever be, and would be even poorer if the Conservatives were in power .... I'll stick with Labour (as bad a job lot they are). Norma Edited June 3, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers
June 3, 200916 yr To think the Conservatives were ousted in 1997 in a landslide because of years of sleaze and weak leadership on their part. Labour have already lost the next general election, regardless of who is party leader. Cameron is such a weasel though - he had a wonderful opportunity to pummel Brown today, and failed miserably. Damned if we do, damned if we don't :(
June 3, 200916 yr Damned if we do, damed if we don't :( Absolutely freaking true! Does it matter if there is an election or not? We the people will get sh it on from a great height anyway! May as well just 'whistle Dixie'. Norma
June 4, 200916 yr I'd vote Conservative ... if I was extremely wealthy! As I'm not, and am never likely to ever be, and would be even poorer if the Conservatives were in power .... I'll stick with Labour (as bad a job lot they are). Even if I was rich, I still wouldn't vote Tory, because I'd always remember my Working class, Scottish roots, and on both levels this pretty much almost genetically hardwires me against voting Tory.... Cameron's a maggot, he's just a grinning, spinning gonk in a suit like Blair, ticking boxes, saying what the plebs and pundits want to hear; I wouldn't trust Osbourne with the country's economy as far as I could throw him frankly, could be that he'd be more competent than Darling, but, god knows, that's hardly a major feat.... A braindead chimp could do a better job than Darling....

If I suddenly became rich (like by winning the lottery  ) I wouldn't vote Conservative either - like you I have a basic hatred and mistrust of the Conservatives. Even their very name suggests what they are all about 'conserving' riches for the rich. My dad would turn in his grave if any of us ever did! Norma

Norma Plus if I'm not mistaken you're northern so you would be in $h!t anyway :P To think the Conservatives were ousted in 1997 in a landslide because of years of sleaze and weak leadership on their part. Damned if we do, damned if we don't :( I always loved watching question time when Blair ALWAYS trashed Howard and Cameron and it really shows how bad the Conservatives are when Cameron can't even win against the charisma free zone that is Gordon Brown  I did have a big lol at the fact that Brown made it obvious that Darling is gonna go. If only the Lib Dems had a decent leader (i.e. Vince Cable) then maybe we could have a party to vote for that we genuinely want to run the country rather than just voting for one to keep a worse party from getting into office! Thus of course as I would never vote Tory I'm swinging towards Labour again and will probably deface a photo of Cameron for my sig like I did with Michael Howard for the last election.

I'm voting tactically at the next election, I want to see a Hung Parliament, with the Lib Dems having the balance of power and in a far greater position to call the shots.... Nick Clegg's a bit of an empty suit it has to be said, so, yeah, Vince Cable could be the guy... I'll never understand why they didn't choose Simon Hughes tbh.... Ideally, I'd like to see Charles Kennedy making a comeback, he was simply a great Party Leader, full of guts and passion, and stood up for what he believed in.... Then the silly buggers went and stabbed him in the back just because of a fairly minor drink problem...
